    Your best work this is just the video I was looking for! Couldn’t find how to set out. Been a bricklayer for 10 years but just a line monkey, so although I’m neat and quick no one ever showed me how to set out. Much appreciated dude you obviously put a lot of time into your videos

    Been watching Essential Craftsman doing a build in America, very good, but I think this is going to be much better as it's more relevant to how we do stuff. Fantastic effort to do a build AND vlog it as well. Top Bloke!

    I loved when 80's mode was engaged at 11:00 and you did that trowel trick and the video work in general. Nice series. Thanks

    Last one I promise . Level all the profiles to dpc level , do all setting out on the wooden profiles ,string out your line , put brick profiles in corners ,gauge down from string line , simple . Learn a bit of trig and throw that square away . All the best

      Yeah, I definitely need to chuck that square away 🤣 and do it properly. Cheers for the comment buddy 👍🏻😁

      @@RodianBuilds nothing wrong with using your square mate....it's square after all 👍 that's exactly what there for!!! You could 3/4/5 a corner if needed but it's no more accurate than a square. The level trick is one i use and show the young lads coming up i use my 2 foot though against the bank but exactly the same as you do. Always set lines to outside facework on timber profiles for external walls. With reference heights i walk round the corners with a spray tin...mark the highest corner which will be the one that dictates damp then dip every corner and spray on the concrete the difference so as i walk round building the corners I know how much to pick each up on each one!!!on your own that's much easier than trying to set profiles to height to pull string lines off.....lastly get yourself a W Rose much nicer trowel than the marshaltown and watched all your videos mate your doing a great job on your own it's hard going so i tip my hat you Sir 👏👏👏 oh and mortar is called gobbo where I'm from up north.

      @@TheTraditionalGolfer quite hard to 3:4:5 when big chuck of top footing corner in the way of your diagonal. builder square all day long and centre line is fine enables you to move easily if any adjustments!

    Hey mate thanks very much, your tutorials have helped so much. Makes sense where other videos don't.

  • @andrewsmith1168

    When i do footings with wooden profiles I find it easier to measure the outside brickwork from the centre line on the profile. Then put a nail on the profile which in your case is 150mm from the centre line. It saves you marking it twice on the footing and the chance of it being out. Not trying to tell you how to do it but I’ve always found it easy that way. Fair play to you doing it your own especially with that level 👍

    Bloody hell Rodian I just wanted to come down there and help with the tape and hold the staff . Setting out is not easy , especially on a house that size and shape ! You did well though mate 👌🏼. It’s p%+#@d down all weekend here July 2019 hence I’m going through the back catalogue while my lot are at Manchester Comicon 🧱👍🏼

      It was very awkward setting it all out on me tod. Next time I'll get laser levels and all that jazz. Should make life easier. We were going to go to comicon up there but were double booked 🤣

    • @RodianBuilds
      @RodianBuilds  5 лет назад +2

      There was an old garage where the house now stands. I salvaged a load of concrete blocks and used them. Saving a few quid 😁👍🏻

    Curious why you didn’t dig out all the soil inside so there is clear void under the beams. Makes pulling lines and measurements for square easier. Very dangerous using a square to square a long run, even fractions of a mm out at the square means 100mm+ 15m away. Only way us 3-4-5 Pythagoras. Dead easy and bang on.

    • @RodianBuilds
      @RodianBuilds  5 лет назад +2

      There was a part of the vlog I left out because I didn't think it was interesting. Basically the digger I was using was f*cked and kept dying on me. Had to wait for it to be fixed before I could dig it out. I agree the 3,4,5 method would have been way more precise but I've never had a problem with using a square. Just watch, the next one I do and it'll be a country mile out of square 😂😂

      @@RodianBuilds if your going to buy a laser have a look at Stabila LA180. It gives you square function for setting out and the normal depth as well. If your own your own doing this stuff it will pay you back in spades. Get a decent laser measure and you are away. I'm silimar boat to you doing groundworks solo and what used to take 2 of us pulling tapes and 3-4-5 now can be done by me in half hour tops using the stabila. Brickies never moan as I pencel all the corners on the conc ready for them to run knowing they are perfectly square as the laser dont lie! Keep it up bud you having a go which is the main thing, its all a learning curve!

    .

    • @RodianBuilds
      @RodianBuilds  5 лет назад +1

      I'm not so keen on how the Ox feels in the hand. I would recommend this Marshaltown 19/11 trowel amzn.to/2HTBjVm I've used Marshaltown trowels for many years now. always been a brand i have been able to rely on.
