    Yup I’m interested to see how this test does without a vent . Maybe set a few bricks under the frame so there’s a lil airspace under it . Now I gota go try this lol

    I’m interested in seeing the results! I’m just concerned about moisture being able to escape? It might start condensation on the inside of the plastic🤷‍♂️I sure hope it works. Air movement and heat are usually your best tools in my opinion. Kudos for giving this a try. I will be awaiting the results 👍🏻👍🏻

    I’ll be curious to see how it vents the moisture. Good vid, and I’m looking forward to the results.

      Thank you. So far there’s condensation running down the sides of the plastic and draining on the grass. I’ll keep you posted, subscribe if you haven’t done so for updates!

    It will be interesting to see the results of this IBC tote kiln.if you can find it clear corrugated plastic would be a stronger and last longer

      Ah yes. Coronated clear plastic panels. I know exactly what you’re referring to! I’m going to price those!

    Good idea. I'm in So. Cal where termites are a problem and I'm thinking this may be a good way to cook the little buggers. Thanks for sharing.

    Very interesting to see how this works. I think you need to have a vent to let the moisture escape. The wood may start to mold without letting it escape. Maybe do as Allen family firewood suggested raise the bottom up to let some air escape. I just subbed to your channel.

    You most definitely need to vent the kiln . Vent the top and bottom this create air flow which is critical for drying wood.

    It will be interesting to see the results of this IBC tote kiln. If you are going to build another one, I would wrap the frame plastic a little differently. 1 panel for the roof, front and back, and 2 separate panels for each side cut to the triangular shape. This will be more efficient with the use of plastic and not have to fight with any bunches of excess plastic. As others have commented, venting the excess moisture may be a problem, but time will tell.

    No wind can get to it to assist in removing water. You made a humidity dome. I think if you add some air circulation you'll be golden. But leave it as is for this test. I think uncovered will have less moisture content at end of test because of air flow.

    Subscribed, I'm interested to see how this goes.
    I wonder if you need a way to vent moisture from the "kiln"... it should get hotter, but may also trap moisture.
    Only thing I would do differently is put a couple feet of space between those totes

      @offthetrailsoutdoors1169  Месяц назад +2

      Thanks. I agree, the tors should have been further apart! Love and learn. I’m also interested in seeing if this is viable and should I put a vent on the top somewhere?!

    • @FirewoodInTheField
      @FirewoodInTheField Месяц назад +1

      @offthetrailsoutdoors1169 at this point if they have already been sitting I would not add a vent, you'll spoil the experiment. Lol.
      I'd still move them apart though.
      You could perform a 2nd test with a "kiln" that has a vent hole in it

    Get the greenhouse plastic last a long time

  • @ThePoacherNo1
    @ThePoacherNo1 Месяц назад +1

    You are trapping all the moisture in your plastic tent. Where do you think the moisture is going to go? If you leave the wood in there long enough it will rot. The other pile will dry nicely as air can circulate between the wood and carry the moisture away.

    • @offthetrailsoutdoors1169
      @offthetrailsoutdoors1169  Месяц назад +1

      The condensation is running down the outside of the plastic to the ground. This is a test and yes you maybe right , the wood would start molding !
