Delivery I hand ball the kiln dried logs from the ibcs into 0.6 cubic meter bulk bags I then load them on my pickup and drag them off at the customer, there is a nack but I can easily drop a bag off without spilling any logs then I can drag them 10ft or so if need be
In some ways the phone can be easy for filming, I make stands out of a piece of plank and a saw kerf to fit the phone on edge, also use airplane mode for filming stops the interruptions and saves battery. Nice work
It’s hand balled into bulk bags or nets. If it’s a loose load for wholesale I grab it with the digger grab and rotate it. If you are carful you don’t damage the cage

Yes over the past few weeks I’ve had a bit of oak and it’s all a learning curve. I think oak needs part seasoning before kiln drying. It’s just so wet when fresh cut. I had some reading 42%. Or just more fans and airflow I did have some mould but only on the oak, Ash right next to it was fine. I’ve learnt from it and going to put aside any oak and part season over the summer first before putting it in the kiln. I’m so pleased to hear you have gone ahead with the build and I hope it serves your business as well as it has mine 💪🏼
Yea same ash fine oak is suspect, my oak was down 3/5 years no sign of mold b4 being split but a small bit after being in the kiln . yes I've said to people I'm learning to cook or bake 😅, Thank again for all your help!!
Conditions are perfect for mold growth, heat and humidity. You really can't give up the heat so is the answer to get rid of the moisture faster by creating more air flow or more air changes per minute or hour? Very curious as I would love to build something similar this year.
Yea when you've time , weekly or by weekly, tips on everything sourcing wood/ cutting wood bagging all the problems how you sort them out , yard videos , delivery videos, show us how much hours your business is taking up(I bet 70 hours a week) Absolutely everything it's all very very interesting and you always produce a very insightful video compared to what's online, good man!!
@@oakfarmfirewood Thing is, making the vid takes time, both in taking the footage and editing it ready for YT. Can you really afford all that time. Some content creators do a weekly vid and that would work for me. As Andrew Cax says, ALL aspects of the business are interesting - it's just fascinating to get a bit of a window into someone else's life and/or work.

Do you buy the wood or get it for free from tree surgeons? And how do you deliver the kiln dried logs to your customers? 4x4 with trailer?
I buy cord wood (3m lengths of tree) pay per ton. Cut-split-dry-sell.

After your done drying the wood in the kiln how do you manage it without wrecking the IBC cages??

Yes same here if you are always cutting green oak you need to invest in more fans and reduce humidity quicker with vents

Hi , does the boiler use a lot of wood offcuts in order to retain the heat?
Depends massively on the outside air temp and what you have it set to, but tends to use an ibc of waste every 24 hours
What btu is required by the burner to run one bin?

What temp do you get inside the kiln
At the end of the batch when the wood is dry it can get up to 80C but earlier in the cycle it’s a lot lower around 40-50c
I don't think you need a daily vid. Just as-and-when, with good content. I enjoy your videos a lot, but don't feel the need to have a daily update.
