I’m really glad you made this because it’s exactly how I lather. I believe a lot of people need to see it. I have customers that never add water after loading their brush and I try to tell them but a visual is much better.
Hey Will. Now, that's a great lather; I'm amazed at just how much water your soap really can take, especially as I thought you might lose some lather down the plug hole, as you added more (and more) water to the brush. This was a great video thanks very much. All the best.
Hey those Maggard interview videos were real to me! 🤣 great tutorial - I usually don't lather straight from the tub; I put a dollop into a separate lather bowl and lather from there. I'm afraid if I lather straight from the product tub it'll take a while for the soap to dry before I screw the lid back on, and over time it'll decrease the scent strength. Probably overblown in my mind, though.
This is just a load from the tub; this was a straight-up face lather. But what's important is the water content; the lathering location doesn't matter much so long as you give it enough liquid!
Awesome! By far my favorite soaps. Even the previous formulas like Soft Heart or Excelsior perform better than most soaps from other big companies! As other mentionned, a video where you bowl lather would be nice and I could send it to friend! Nice video👌
Oh you have the dimple chin like I do to to negotiate a blade through. That's throwing some water at it dunking that poor little, I guess synthetic brush. Good to see you on RUclips. Great soap.
I generally bowl lather your soaps since it takes a ton of water. It’s always been my favorite soap and the base has come a long way since Reserve. Thanks for the video. I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Ciao, ho acquistato il mio primo barrister and man, volevo sapere, ma prima di fare il primo prelievo con il pennello devo lasciare per un po' un po' di acqua calda nello scatolo? Grazie
Oh, wow. I don't *think* I have anything in this base (I'm still working through a good bit of White Label and the base after that), but it looks fantastic!
Nice video, Will! Love your products! Sad to see COOL go. It’s my wife’s favorite scent. As far as making a tub last as long as possible, does face lathering or scooping use less product, while still getting the job done? Looking forward to more videos 😊
It depends very much on how heavily you load. Some folks measure their jars before and after shaving to get an idea of how much they're using per shave, so you could do that and compare it with the weight of a scoopful of soap to give you an idea. But, without more data, there's no absolute answer, sorry.
@@barristerandmann I did a little experiment with 30 shaves with 2 soaps of the same formula. Over 30 shaves, I used 44g by scooping and 17g by tub loading. The numbers will obviously vary from person to person and soap to soap, but I am guessing they'll be somewhat close. If I have something I can't get anymore, I will definitely tub load to make it last longer.
“Alright, now that we’ve added water we can add some more water. After that we’ll add water. Ok, it feels good now … so we’ll go ahead and add some more water.”
my mind is blown. Every time I've tried to add a lot of water to my highly regarded soaps(none of them are B&M, awaiting one now), it just ends up thin and bubbly. I struggle so much. I know it's seriously hurting my shaves but I just can't figure it out...this creamy consistency I'm looking for is a mystery to me
There's the watery, glossy lather you showed, and then there's the dense, non-glossy lather, which is more protective and lubricating? And I'm doing bowl lathering, not face lathering, so how much soap should I put in there? I've heard it's usually the size of an almond, is that correct?
Keep in mind that I was talking the ENTIRE TIME. 😅 Typically, my shaves take no more than five minutes or so. I just use a ton of water from the outset and think about it a whole lot less!
Great Video Will & Thank You for making it and taking your time to break it down.. This is exactly how I do it I take my time and enjoy my shaves sometime under 10min other times 30min but that’s stretching it 😁to another level! I actually can't believe how much water you used, I am SHOOK - in really, ridiculously hard water habitats, would you use...dare I say it...even *more* water?
You certainly could! The water in Upstate NY is pretty hard; we frequently see limescale and pipe corrosion in older buildings. Omnibus is formulated for hard water resistance, though, so you probably wouldn't need THAT much more than what I used here.
I'm in London, and our water recently tested at around 350ppm, so limescale is very much a fact of life - I've not found a better soap than B&M at managing the conditions though!

The omnibus base really does offer stellar performance. It's basically capable of suspending a swimming pool on your face...
