Barrister’s Reserve has been a revelation. I still get my most incredible face feel from MWF and Speick splash. 2 more small companies that have been around a while, kicking butt. But the wonderful smells are not there. I like Speick’s herbal scent but it ain’t no Fougére Gothique. I am glad I got Reserve Spice as my very first Reserve soap. I find it a dead cinch to dial in and get a great shave, and the matching aftershave lotion is going to be a moneymaker. You have got the Mitchell’s/Speick shave beat, Will. I find MWF easy to lather, so Reserve is not a challenge. It is endlessly forgiving. I was settling in after an evening shave with yesterday’s mail call: Peter Charkalis’ Summer Fig set, when I saw this video in my feed. What a good teacher you are, Will. If you haven’t tried Charky’s new base, it is fan tas tic. A little competition for you. Peter loves scents like you love scents. Try this one. Friday night will be Declaration Trismegistus, with its three majesties of scent, performance and post shave. Sunday morning will be Reserve Spice if I don’t get greedy and use it tomorrow. Keep innovating, Will. Reserve shaving soaps are an innovation that is most welcome.
i still think Cris from Another Cut Above lathers this soap the best out of anyone. i learned from him and his technique is flawless. i get mountains of thick glossy lather with a 10 second load of Barristers Reserve. it's one of my top 3 best soap bases, slickness, lather volume, and post shave skin nourishment it does it all! also Ruds is a champ at lathering this soap base too. Well done Will! you make elite soap man! just picked up some Patches by the way, LOVE THAT SCENT! reminds me of Trident strawberry chewing gum :)
I'm going to use some b&m this morning! I will get back to you guys on how it lathers. All right. I just got done using the Seville. Stuff smells amazing. Big gobs of lather. I don't know why Jared was having problems. Stuff is absolutely fantastic. Love it.
What they've explained here solves the mystery of how, during my first shave ever with a Barrister and Mann shaving soap, "Waves," the lather I got was not a classical-looking or dense creamy-feeling lather, but did give me a remarkably smooth, slick and close shave, leaving nothing to be desired. The post-shave feel was well hydrated, not dry at all and no razor burn. The results, especially after having whipped up a slightly sudsy and slightly creamy lather, really surprised me. Looking forward to trying the others, in the group of samples and in the several tubs I purchased.
Watching this with just my Colonel Conk is breaking my heart 😭 I got the sampler 4 pack and the scent was weak (almost non-existent) on them with the almond being the best one for me. It's been a year and a half and I've just finished the Almond and I'm dreading going to the next ones (who've gotten even weaker bin fragrance since then) But I told myself I wouldn't fall down the rabbit hole on soaps! Times are tough with school and that's why I switched to DE anyway! Shaving is beginning to feel like a chore again so I wonder when I'll cave. I can't spend 4 more years with these awful things! (Thanks for letting me rant. I've been endlessly window shopping to ease my pain 😂)
Then as explained you are almost certainly not using enough water. YMMV, but both current B&M bases are objectively excellent. So much so that I struggle to credit these 1 in 1,000 reviews as being real in the first place
@@clintsimpson4690 seriously. Like this guy knows everything 😂. B&M is an industry darling far in wide because of their ridiculous quality in fragrance and in function. When a rando hops in saying its like using a zest bar, I can't help but think 'user error' and it's obvious because they're hardly ever all that bright.
Wow such a unique way of creating a product. I never would've known how much work actually goes into making a soap product

I guess Jared had to go straight to the source to figure out how to lather this. I tried to tell him. No trust ;).
great content...very informative. I'm going to go home an try this method.

Razorock soaps are the best if you're on a budget!

Kudos to Aviv for doing a proper face lather! Hands don't lather like stubble faces!

What is the name of the brush with the brown handle? Is it available on west coast?

Lather!
This has to be one of goofiest videos I’ve seen
So B&M soaps want Marco Method. Interesting.
This soap is not the easiest to lather and for the reason theres not much point using it.
You just gotta add water. Some people are too timid in adding water. ADD WATER hahaha. Dip the brush into water and lather. It’s not hard.
I think he just went cheap on ingredients on most of his soaps. I find all of them to be very poor performers very sub par soap!
Barrister and Mann? Stick to your Col Conk and Arko in that case

Then you ain’t using it right dude. It needs water to work correctly. So you’re obviously not adding enough.
