    Razor blades are supposed to be “sharp”. But when you qualify a blade as “not sharp” it sounds like a reject immediately. Perhaps a better way to qualify the sharpness of the blades would be to talk about their mildness versus aggressiveness from the start.

    • @johndgt
      @johndgt 2 года назад +4

      i've just started DE shaving as well, but i don't much enjoy of it, the result is great but it takes time. it's just because of budget, gillete fusion is excellent but it costs too much and it shaves four or five times just perfect but then you need to change a cartridge which is kinda expensive. DE razor blades are much more cheaper, wilkinson sword blades give a pretty nice result for me for the same four or five times of shaving and their cost is acceptable.

    The smoothest blade I've ever used were the Wilkinson chromium blades that were made in England. They are still some around, but the price they're commanding is obnoxious. I got 10 packs of 5, 4 years ago for $55. That may sound ridiculous, but a pack of 5 is now going for $25 to $40. That's 5 blades. There tons of nice blades available, but those Wilkinson's are a cut above every other blade and they last.

      @@tardis9905 a blade is never too sharp. Never. You might not be used to this style of razor handles. I started off with the merkur 34C with a feather blades and wow was it sharp. It’s a very open razor. I hated it at first but slowly over a few months I conditioned my skin and muscle memory to be soft and gentle with it. Use a shave oil, good lather and soft soft soft, short strokes, once you get used to it, I think you’ll love it, just my 2 cents. I mean I do have extremely sensitive skin and freaking thick facial hair (bad combo) and it works well. I’d recommend you try it out for a few weeks. Develop the skill cause DE shaving is certainly a skill that needs practice. Cheers Tardis!

    Beside the skin and beard texture, the design of the razor affects and some extent dictates which blades would work better. A mild razor (as determined be the blade angle, exposure, gap,... etc) would work better with a sharper blade and a more aggressive razor is more likely to work better with a smoother blade...

Of course there are blades sold that have already been cut in half but you can have the flexibility of trying and using all of these blades if you will snap your own in half. Just find anyone who is selling a DE blade “sampler pack” and you will able to try them all.
