@@kennychan7104 The thing is that the MGEX so far are based on the more popular series. I imagine it's more likely to have a convertible 00 than a convertible GP01
Just started building mine and I can't lie about being a little disappointed at seeing only a few runners actually plated gold. The amount of detail, part separation and looks are out of this world but not worth more than 3 MG's. But I bought it because I'm a lover of the building part of the hobby so new complex kits like these get my blood pumpin'. I'll paint all of the armor and some of the mustard gold but honestly the plated looks fine to me. Kind of reminds me of the Hyaku Shiki in that it does not need to be as expensive as it is but Bandai will be Bandai when any amount of extra work goes into runner or 2.
The main reason for the cost is that there's still a lot of work that goes into making it. Do not forget that it's still superior to a lot of PGs that are put out and comparable to the PGU in terms of quality, just smaller. The only major points of weakness are the hip joints that connect the rail guns and where the two sections of the wings join together. They definitely could have done better though. No stand for the funnels is the most disappointing part.

While you may not be a fan, the MGEX Strike Freedom is actually quite an achievement in terms of engineering. The focus of the fancy gold and metal coatings actually undermines several major accomplishments that it has achieved. It creates a much better straight build that does not require any painting or panel lining. @Kevin Li oh I won't argue that at all. The SF is definitely peak MG enginuity. Much like the RX-78-2 3.0 was back when it dropped. I would very much enjoy building MG's more often if this level of engineering and dedication were put into all MG's at some point. However that being said, I would much rather kits like this stay as the gold standard line of MG and not try and bleed it into regular release kits because that would increase the price of MG's even if they could cut cost down by continuing to find cheaper ways to do it. ah so it is that weird colored weak plastic that the MG Full Burst also suffers from :( thank you for pointing that out cause that makes it a no for me, I broke parts wile building the full burst (first and only kit where that happened) and then just more and more joints ended up breaking...most of which I have no idea when or how it broke but upon taking the armor off yea a part that was once 1 piece is now 2 pieces >.> and with the joints...i gotta say my MG sinanju's shoulder joint was impressive as hell that it didn't split, think I had 7-10 coats of paint on the arm peg and it still didn't split the part that it go's in to (I had it 1 hand holding up it's gun with the rocket launcher attached and extended on the gun... which it could actually do...better when on the ground as yea...massive imbalance :P but when I decided to give it a high gloss top coat I broke the peg on it's crotch that go's in to the torso ... i guess it may have been under a lot of stress from holding up the gun/rocker launcher combo for a year or 2 :P) but I remember the full burst splitting the part on the arm that go's on the peg just by assembling it >.< never a great experience when basic assembly requires glue because the plastic is brittle as all hell (the creamy "gold" stuff), only kit I had to use glue on other then the High Rez Wing Zero Custom aka the hand grenade.
I broke a part on my psycho zaku & the HG areal gundam so I have been on edge. I also forgot to point out people breaking their waist joint for the MGEX, another thing I watched out for. The wrist swivel is already tight without paint, with it it's almost impossible to move.
STRIKE freedom! It bothers me, mostly because I prefer the freedom’s design to the strike freedom but to also acknowledge that I’m being nit picky I do know that the show doesn’t really make a difference between the two as Kira and all the characters just refer to the gundam as freedom… But it’s still the strike freedom
I have it preordered and it has a January shipping date but it looks like that’s not going to happen. I’ve had several chances to purchase it on Gundam Planet this week but I can’t cause then I would have two on order. A little annoyed because I paid upfront for the preorder and I can’t cancel it.
I had a chance to buy it and passed.Wound up getting the iron blooded coating Barbatos, age-1 wear system set and the ew wing clear for about the same price.
I've gotten this recently on my b'day on December and I was very happy I'm fine with how it looks, but the price is definitely expensive, my only problem is the moveable fingers and it's annoying, especially the etching stickers.
I would want one of these but I put so much effort on my mg deluxe strike freedom gundam and I’m too damn lazy to work on this version but still want it though. Honest review👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I like the direction mgex is going except a few gold runners that should be painted and the inner frame should be made abs + pc. I miss the older mg models with solid inner frames. Articulation is great and details are spectacular.
I’ve been debating on getting this kit but the price errr i don’t know if I can justify over here in Canada it goes from anywhere from 205-250$ CAD and if you include tax and shipping it’s close to 300 one place near me has it and in total it’s 235$ but is it worth it I can easily get 3-4 MGs for that price I love the Strike Freedom it’s one of my favs but I don’t know if I can blow through a huge chunk of my wallet on one kit which will eventually get released more often later on or do I go for other kits that I genuinely want right now I’m looking at getting the MG RX78 2.0 MG Sinanju Stein Ver ka and the Heavyarms
I want one of these so badly but they are absolutely unobtanium here in Europe, it will be years before I can find one and that's if I'm being optimistic
I'm really grateful you had the wherewithal to give this a fair shake, and not just coom over it like so many others. Did it come with waterslides? I noticed you didn't stick any decals.
The kit still has a lot of achievements, but its greatest ones are covered up by the people who paint over them and end up missing the other color features brought by the kit like the clear red pieces. I really want to see a Build Burning using those clear pieces one day. It has a few waterslides. The big one is the logo on the shoulder and there are a few more, but not that many due to the metallic and etched stickers being included too.
The MGEX Strike Freedom isn't as bad as the video makes it out to be. People were expecting a visual spectacle, but the most impressive things don't stand out as much. The kit's features aren't as visually impressive like the MGEX Unicorn's LED strip, but it is still a great kit. It's leagues above the old PG Strike Freedom that costs $100 more than the MGEX SF. While it isn't gold plated like a Phenex, it still does its job with its color and essentially comes pre-painted. The miniaturization of PG and PGU features like the posable fingers, the metallic and etched stickers, and the complete inner frame are very well done. I just wished the pieces that the railguns and the wings connect through were better. That is where the real weak spot of the kit lies. My favorite parts are the clear red pieces because they look solid from a distance, but you can see the details up close. I'm really hoping to see a clear kit in the future that uses this.
If you're talking about the PG Strike Freedom suggest you stay away from it. It's $100 more than the MGEX and worse. All you get is size and I would even argue that the RG Strike Freedom is already superior to it. The PG Perfect Strike is good though.
Was gonna bit the bullet and overpay for this, but given how much cost saving Bandai did on this kit, I think I'll do my own cost saving too. The injected gold ruined it for me.
They did with the PG Strike Freedom and that was arguably the best part of the kit. The problem is that assembling those hands are a nightmare, which is why they reverted to pre-formed hands in all the other situations.
There's an MGSD version of Freedom already. But if you want real waifus, it's the SD Gundam World Heroes. The Qiongqi Strike Freedom is a beautiful mess of its own. There's also the line of MS Girls if you want actual waifus though.
It's already overpriced so imagine how much more overpriced it is when trying to buy this without a local retail store, it's the only reason I haven't got this model yet. Also if they had included the funnel effect parts for both the backpack and dragoons like from full Burst mode Freedom then this model would have been truly complete
I honestly hate the MGEX line so far. I love the designs but the extreme points are just not worth the money for me. I wish Bandai would release the base kits minus the extreme points (led unit, gold plating) because the base kits of unicorn and the SF are just so incredible.
*inhale copium The price is okay when you compare it to resin kit & frame complexity Seriously, alot of MGEX kit is what MG should be, just cut the EX part completely For unicorn, just leave its LED & we have MG 2.0 unicorn For S.freedom, leave the coating & we have MG 2.0 S freedom
I wouldn't say its copium. The MGEX SF has a lot of features that gives it value. It's definitely a better choice than the PG SF that costs $100 more than this kit. Miniaturized PGU parts, check. Clear red pieces that I wish they'd put on a Build Burning someday, check. No display stand for funnels or wings? Sad panda.
I already got the MGEX ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam. This one is for sure pricey at ¥14,000, but this pretty much is the MG 2.0 that fans have been wanting. Honestly, I think the price is worth it for what we're getting. I suppose if there's 1 thing Bandai could've done to make this a little bit more worth it is to include 'Wings of the Skies' effect parts. On a related note, I wonder if Bandai will be making an MGEX or MG 2.0 for the ZGMF-X19A ∞ Justice Gundam and ZGMF-X42S Destiny. I'd actually prefer an MG 2.0 for it along with an MG 2.0 for ZGMF-X56S/α Force Impulse Gundam, ZGMF-X56S/β Sword Impulse Gundam, ZGMF-X56S/γ Blast Impulse Gundam, and ZGMF-X23S Saviour Gundam. Speaking of which, I also if we're going to get an MG 2.0 or MGEX for the GN-001 Gundam Exia. It would be nice if we got an MG 2.0, but an MGEX would be fine too. There's plenty of P-Bandai releases Bandai could do for the numerous variants.
Yea Bandai seems, as usual, to be dropping the ball. I wanted this kit but the scarcity has driven it to ridiculous prices. Thank you for this review. I know it’s not worth the price of plastic crack.
It's actually not too bad at $220-$230. The cost of the kit is $180 and the $30-$40 shipping brings it to roughly $220. It's the same price as the MGEX Unicorn and just under the price of the PGU and is around the same quality. I would definitely put it above the PGs of pre-Exia in terms of quality despite its lacking features. The PGU has more points of articulation and openable panels and what not, but the MGEX Strike Freedom has its color and metal coating thing that puts it at about the same level. But granted, $220-$230 is still a lot to spend on any single hobby.
@@somebodyoncetoldme6557 It's a little late for that. The Hyaku Shiki was the basis for the plastics and techniques used on this kit. It has been out there for years already. Materials are also similar to the PGU as well. Includes the same warning labels on both boxes. The PG Unicorn has even more warnings than that. I don't have other older boxes to check, but they're probably there too.
@Kevin Li let's be real, the plated gold uptick on this kit is ludicrous. I'm pretty sure everyone would be happier if it was printed as a regular release 2.0 minus the gold plating. Bandai just did this to squeeze as much cash as possible out of the mold (which is understandable).
@@user-sp9po5qi9q I suggest you take a look at the kit one more time. PG level hands. Metallic 3D printed stickers. Metal etched stickers. Complete PGU inner frame downscaled to 1/100 minus the metal parts. All of this for $100 less than the PGU before you get into the higher quality plastic used by MGEX and PG models. Take ALL of that away and then you can sell it as a 2.0 for a MG price. If anything, the MGEXs makes the PGs look overpriced considering most of them are of far lower quality than either of the MGEX kits. The only PGs that have the MGEX kits beat right now are the PG Perfect Strike and the variants of the PG Unicorn like the Perfectability and Final Battle Ver.
I'm very sad I couldn't get my hands on one of these. I've always been a fan of strike freedom. Then again I can't paint for shit so it would've been a little wasted in my hands. Very good video as always!
Build video still in the works BTW more review videos on the way.

thank you for pointing that out cause that makes it a no for me, I broke parts wile building the full burst (first and only kit where that happened) and then just more and more joints ended up breaking...most of which I have no idea when or how it broke but upon taking the armor off yea a part that was once 1 piece is now 2 pieces >.>
and with the joints...i gotta say my MG sinanju's shoulder joint was impressive as hell that it didn't split, think I had 7-10 coats of paint on the arm peg and it still didn't split the part that it go's in to (I had it 1 hand holding up it's gun with the rocket launcher attached and extended on the gun... which it could actually do...better when on the ground as yea...massive imbalance :P but when I decided to give it a high gloss top coat I broke the peg on it's crotch that go's in to the torso ... i guess it may have been under a lot of stress from holding up the gun/rocker launcher combo for a year or 2 :P)
but I remember the full burst splitting the part on the arm that go's on the peg just by assembling it >.< never a great experience when basic assembly requires glue because the plastic is brittle as all hell (the creamy "gold" stuff), only kit I had to use glue on other then the High Rez Wing Zero Custom aka the hand grenade.
I broke a part on my psycho zaku & the HG areal gundam so I have been on edge. I also forgot to point out people breaking their waist joint for the MGEX, another thing I watched out for.
The wrist swivel is already tight without paint, with it it's almost impossible to move.
0:52 Glo Gang rise up
Its been a while since 2.0 kit release, and MGEX SF is the 2.0 for old outdated SF
this is the only channel i have notifications on for, and it never disappoints
It really looks a lot more spectacular without the armor.
STRIKE freedom!
It bothers me, mostly because I prefer the freedom’s design to the strike freedom but to also acknowledge that I’m being nit picky I do know that the show doesn’t really make a difference between the two as Kira and all the characters just refer to the gundam as freedom…
But it’s still the strike freedom
I have it preordered and it has a January shipping date but it looks like that’s not going to happen. I’ve had several chances to purchase it on Gundam Planet this week but I can’t cause then I would have two on order. A little annoyed because I paid upfront for the preorder and I can’t cancel it.
This is beautiful
I didn’t care for the SEED series, but they have some pretty banger kits.
ah man i'm excited to see you do the new MGxSD Strike Freedom kit!
You were right, I did obtain mine in the summer. After getting scammed once…
thankyou for the video, they are fun to watch and love all the sarcasm.
Any advice. I want to paint the mustard gold parts, but I want to use Spray Cans. What do you guys recommend.
I had a chance to buy it and passed.Wound up getting the iron blooded coating Barbatos, age-1 wear system set and the ew wing clear for about the same price.
For me the ultimate MGEX kit should be a MGEX GP-03 Dendrobium or MGEX Queen Mansa to go along side my ZZ Ver Ka.
Yes definitely overpriced for the 4 something plated runners you get (which only 2 of them actually look good lol)
You think the original price is bad look at what other websites are selling it for Amazon is selling it for 250
@@nutbut312joe5 yeah you’re straight throwing away money at that point 💀
Great job and thanks for sharing the process
What are you using to stirp your kits? I've tried several produces, but I have found anything that I like.

DO NOT get this on your skin it hurts like a mother bitch.
Curious question 🤔 what was your first model kit you made?
This is how you do a great, honest, human review 👏
What paint/brand did you use for the inner frame?
I'm saving my money for the Zeta Ver.Ka.
i have been so lucky, got 2 in italy for 70% of the original price
I've gotten this recently on my b'day on December and I was very happy I'm fine with how it looks, but the price is definitely expensive, my only problem is the moveable fingers and it's annoying, especially the etching stickers.
I would want one of these but I put so much effort on my mg deluxe strike freedom gundam and I’m too damn lazy to work on this version but still want it though.
Honest review👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
THERE'S A GUNDAM DOWN HERE!
oh man i didnt know you had a gunpla channel, sick
Mr Gundam, do you have/watched Grendizer? It was huge in my childhood.
Gundam reeeeeing out about paying $187 for the MGEX
Me: *cackles in Canadian*
that darksydephil cameo lmao
I believe it’s a Ree stream, probably Tevin lol. Gotta do it for the main channel khantent do0d.
What procedure do you use to strip the gold painted parts? I have this kit on Pre-Order
I like the direction mgex is going except a few gold runners that should be painted and the inner frame should be made abs + pc. I miss the older mg models with solid inner frames. Articulation is great and details are spectacular.
Simply beautiful
The Sky defender will give Bandai (MGEX) a run for their money.
I don't like the Sky Defender aesthetics, but I have a proder for the Infinite Dimension Genesis. Very excited for it.
Beautiful work, papa!
I can confirm this kit costs the same in Vietnam when converted
👍
There is 4 of these at my local shop, but I’m leaning toward getting the Banshee PG. The MGEX looks really cool though.
I would recommend the Perfectibility or the Final Battle Unicorns if you're going for PG. They're the same with extra stuff.
What gold paint did you end up using?
I want one of these so badly but they are absolutely unobtanium here in Europe, it will be years before I can find one and that's if I'm being optimistic
I love your work!
What is that you are using to strip the gold?
I'm really grateful you had the wherewithal to give this a fair shake, and not just coom over it like so many others.
Did it come with waterslides? I noticed you didn't stick any decals.
The kit still has a lot of achievements, but its greatest ones are covered up by the people who paint over them and end up missing the other color features brought by the kit like the clear red pieces. I really want to see a Build Burning using those clear pieces one day.
It has a few waterslides. The big one is the logo on the shoulder and there are a few more, but not that many due to the metallic and etched stickers being included too.
@Kevin Li thanks! Yeah I really love clear red plastic. Something about it reminds me of childhood.
I got the pg gundam unleased instead of this. I feel like I dodged a bullet, however this would be a great item for my collection.
Somewhat PG Strike is more appealing despite lack of gold parts
If you're talking about the PG Strike Freedom suggest you stay away from it. It's $100 more than the MGEX and worse. All you get is size and I would even argue that the RG Strike Freedom is already superior to it. The PG Perfect Strike is good though.
Idk how to paint so to me this kit is great
Was gonna bit the bullet and overpay for this, but given how much cost saving Bandai did on this kit, I think I'll do my own cost saving too. The injected gold ruined it for me.
I saw those hands in the runners when the kit was getting spoiled. I just wish Bandai could start making better hands.
They did with the PG Strike Freedom and that was arguably the best part of the kit. The problem is that assembling those hands are a nightmare, which is why they reverted to pre-formed hands in all the other situations.
Watching DSP streams i see...
Freedom gundam being popular in china. Ironic.
Thats badass bro
Build my first HG pale rider and I love it
I FIND GP-01 AT BIG LOT CLOSE OUT FOR $ 3-4 ONLY
I can’t even get one. I’m on holidays in Japan and there’s no stock here at all
waiting for mgex astray red frame
Wish I could afford these lol. for now I just play Mass builder and Gundam Breaker 3
The MG in MGEX stands for Mustard Gold.
Wanted, but being canadian, I save the 300+ for some else
i really wanna buy this but im poor and i fuked up with my MG used the wrong paint on the inner frame
I really want this just for the mini figures. I wonder if there is a market for bandai to do a line of mini figures of gundam waifu's to army build.
There's an MGSD version of Freedom already. But if you want real waifus, it's the SD Gundam World Heroes. The Qiongqi Strike Freedom is a beautiful mess of its own. There's also the line of MS Girls if you want actual waifus though.
It’s great friend 😊🧐✈️📦
It's already overpriced so imagine how much more overpriced it is when trying to buy this without a local retail store, it's the only reason I haven't got this model yet. Also if they had included the funnel effect parts for both the backpack and dragoons like from full Burst mode Freedom then this model would have been truly complete
I saw this, and I thought it was awesome. Then I saw the price tag... got the 2.0 instead
I honestly hate the MGEX line so far. I love the designs but the extreme points are just not worth the money for me. I wish Bandai would release the base kits minus the extreme points (led unit, gold plating) because the base kits of unicorn and the SF are just so incredible.
Remember when Bandai released MG kits (not as P Bandai)?
Me neither. God i would like more MG to be regular releases...
Strike Freedom :P
*inhale copium
The price is okay when you compare it to resin kit & frame complexity
Seriously, alot of MGEX kit is what MG should be, just cut the EX part completely
For unicorn, just leave its LED & we have MG 2.0 unicorn
For S.freedom, leave the coating & we have MG 2.0 S freedom
@xxnike0629xx Will you build the kit/s inside the MGEX SF BOX/ES you have in your BOX fort?
@xxnike0629xx Will you build those 2.0s in your wishlists?
@xxnike0629xx or a NO to both of them? Because you are still too ...

to actually build a kit again LUL
Word of the wise, never be an early adopter. Bandai is testing new plastic on this kit so I suggest avoid paying full price for it.
Nice work I hate the original MG Freedom after u paint it its like putty and don't even try to pose him more than once lol.
I'm very sad I couldn't get my hands on one of these. I've always been a fan of strike freedom. Then again I can't paint for shit so it would've been a little wasted in my hands. Very good video as always!
Gundam Planet has been getting stock in. They announce on their Instagram the time and day stock will go live.
If anything, this would be perfect for you if you can't paint. The color separation and stickers gives it all the color you need.
