Thank you. Your video is the first one that just got straight to the point. I was thinking of trying these 3 wax. You helped me make the decision of using C-3

Comming from 444 which was a painnnn bc frosting drives me nuts. If my frosting looked like that in your video i would kiss it everyday 😂. I am with you on the C-3 wax. I have been working with it for over 3 years. I have found that not dying is the way to go because it does frost quite a lot but the creamy finish and fragrance hot and cold is excellent. Thank you for this video. You are one of the best at sharing your knowledge and I am with you 100% on both waxes for candles and melts. I have watched numerous videos through the years and I felt like the Lone Ranger on C-3 but it works EXCELLENT for me and The Flaming Candle is my go too, but I drive from Birmingham to pick up, so shipping hasn't been an issue.
Well, first off, I have to say how jealous I am that you can physically drive to FCC!!! Lol secondly, thank you sooooo much for watching!!! And yes…I have tried a lot of waxes out there, and I found one of the worst ones for me, was the IGI 6006! I don’t know what magic spell people use to make that wax work! 🤦🏻♀️😂 I have wanted to try Soy 10, but it is almost impossible to find, and I keep reminding myself…don’t fix what isn’t broken! May I ask what type of wick you use? I’m currently using a CD 18 for my large salsa jar, and I’m not overly happy with the soot and mushrooming. I’ve tried the ECO and HTP, but no luck with those. I would really like to try a wooden wick, but hesitant to start anything new, because it’s so expensive to test.
Thank you so much for watching…yes, I absolutely LOVE the C3! Works great for me, and like I said, I have no problem with using 10% FO, when adding that Vybar 260. It’s the only wax I’ve been able to get consistent results with! Let me know how it works if you try it!
Thank you so much for reaching out! I no longer use C3, because I only make wax melts, body spray, body butter, and fire starters now, and have stopped making candles. I had to make some changes financially, and it was candles that were cut out. But, the C3 I was buying was from Flaming, but I do think the brand name was Cargil! For the wax melts, I still use Problend 650 from Flaming!
Hello, maybe I missed it but what temp Did u say u heat your wax for the wax melts and what temp do u add your Fo if u don't mind sharing . Thank you 😊

So sorry for such a late response! No, I have not tried the wooden wicks yet, but I really do want to! Part of the reason, is that I’m still trying to find “my wick” in the regular wicks! Please...if you ever try any, I’d love to hear how they work out!
Huh…I usually have the opposite problem…CS is fast, and Flaming is a tad slow, although, they’ve been getting a lot better! But, it could be the location, and also depending on what you order as well! I know when I purchase wax, they tend to take a bit longer, verses just fragrance oil. They both have been shipping FO out almost next day, but I waited a couple days for my wax…before it was shipped. But, I hope it all arrives quickly! May I ask what types of fragrances you may have bought? Just being nosy! Lol I just ordered from Flaming yesterday…I’m trying that Charcoal and Tonka!
Hello from Thailand. Just starting to make a soy wax candle, using carsill c3 I have a problem with surface. It is not even surface. What temperature should I melt it too ? I melt it at 85c and pour fragrance oil at 60c Not sure if it is because I over stir it ? Wrong temperature? Also I got a sink hole too.
Hello, and thank you for reaching out! Sometimes, I do get a little bit of unevenness around the wick, and I use a heat gun to even out the top. A heat gun would be a great investment for candle making, because, very seldom will you have a perfect top. As far as temperatures are concerned, I heat until about 190-195, add fragrance oil anywhere from 180-185, gently stir for a minute and a half, and then slowly pour into jars. Again, I use that heat gun to warm my jars up before pouring as well. You want to make sure your jars are warmed a little bit, because if you’re pouring hot wax into a cold jar, it can cause glass adhesive issues, and sink holes. So, your temp might be okay, but it could simply be the jar is not warmed enough. But, I definitely recommend a heat gun!
Something is up with candle science's wax, I got 464 and Ecosoya from them and getting oily looking tops and like you, lots of frosting. Lots of buzz about their wax changing recently
Sorry for such a late response! Actually, since this video, I have NOT purchased any wax from them. You are sooooo right..they have swapped out many products, including fragrance oils, for different ones, and I believe they say it’s because it’s a “cleaner” product. So far, I still enjoy their fragrance oils, but definitely I stay away from the waxes!
What type of wicks do you use for the C3? I have tried 6006 and after purchasing my second slab, I want to try something better. I’m ready to order some right now from TFC. They take a long time but I like the quality of the FO I have from them.
I am so sorry for the late reply! Yes!!! TFC takes a very long time to ship their orders, but it is definitely worth the wait! I would suggest trying either the C3 or C6. I prefer either one of those, over the 6006! I have tried different methods of production, to just see if I could get some use out of my two ten pound slabs, but no luck! Let me know how it goes with your order!
Thanks for the video it was very informative you've def tempted me to buy some C3 next time! I'm a newbie and have already purchased a slab of C6. At what temperature do you pour c-6? Also, how much FO do you use with C-6? I used 6% per the instructions the first go round and that was DEF not enough! Do you find that you need a larger with with coconut C6, rather than regular 464? Thanks!
Yikes! Just seeing this now, and so sorry for such a late response!!! I add my FO oil anywhere between 180-185! I will typically use 10% fragrance oil, but will add a Vybar 260 to my C3, in order to use that much. As far as the C6, I have not used it since that first time, and have stuck with C3 ever since!
@@henriettamendes7307 I’ll be honest, I rarely take the temp when pouring. I add my fragrance oil at anywhere between 180-185, and stir for a minute and a half, and pour immediately after. I’m sure it drops pretty rapidly in that time frame, though. I’d be lying, if I told you I knew for sure! And yes, I always warm up my jars with the heat gun. I will warm them up a couple times, actually! I struggle with jar adhesion, and believe that is partly due to where I keep my candles once they’re made, because I have them in a shelf that is on an outside window, and i think it’s too cold there. But, because of that, I have begun warming them up a few times before pouring! The first time I warm them is right after I wick them, and then the second time, is when the wax is almost ready, and then a third time right before I add that fragrance oil. I have seen people use tin foil around their jars, but I haven’t tried that yet!
Thank you, and so sorry for such a late reply! I did not start using an additive until I started using the C3 soy wax. I honestly just wanted to try it, to see if it would help with jar adhesion, and so far, it has helped a tiny bit with that. But, I didn’t use it in the C6.
Thanks for the advice. I just started my candle making journey and currently testing C3 wax. What advice could you give based on your experience would be the best temperature to add the fragrance oil and pour into the vessel to get the best hot throw?
Thank you for watching, and wishing you the best luck! The hot throw is a result of a combination of things, but I’d have to say the most important, is finding the correct wick, and the correct wick size for your vessel! I use CD series, and as far as an even burn, and good hot throw, it works great, but it still produces a bit too much soot for my liking. So, definitely find a wick that is a good quality wick! As far as temperatures, I use a presto pot, and keep it somewhere between low and 200. I will pour into my pitcher, and most times it’s around 198-203. I will add candle dye, if I’m dying, but will allow it to sit and cool, off until it reaches 179/180, and then add my FO at that temp. I stir gently for 1 minute 30 seconds, and pour immediately after stirring. I usually don’t check the temp before pouring, but the few times that I have, it will drop significantly in that stir time...it will often be around 150 degrees when I pour. Hope this helps, and good luck!!! Let me know how you like the C3!
I watched your video and I agree, I am loving my c-3 candles. They look amazing. How do yours look after burning? I'm using wood wicks, and the after burn re-solidified wax looks a little pockmarked. Would love to pick your brain a bit.
Thank you so much for watching! The after burn looks like a hot mess! 😂 it doesn’t happen with every candle, but it definitely looses its nice smooth top. I do notice it looks the worst when there’s still a lot of candle left too. Once it gets down to the 1/4 mark, it’s not so bad. How do the wooden wicks work with the C3? I’d love to try them, but not sure where to start, or if they burn okay.
@@nikkibayo they get a little sooty, but really easy to set up. They can be difficult to get a high flame too. Sometimes its just a cute little low flame.
Okay, thanks for the info! I’m desperately trying to find a wick that doesn’t soot, but I’m not sure it exists. Lol I’m currently using the CD 18, and still get quite a bit of soot. And, not sure what’s going on right now, but even the CD’s, and several others, are out of stock everywhere!
Pro candle supply has C-3 It is actually the only wax I’ve used since I started! I love Pro Candle supple it Is where I get my wax , my wicks and some of my fragrances and jars and they don’t take no where near ass long as Flaming candle they aren’t as quick as candle science but you will only get it a few days after then you would buying from candle science hope this helps :)
Thank you so much! I haven’t heard of Pro Candle. This is an older video, and I’ve now begun to blend Flaming Candle’s C3 and Pro blend 400 for candles, and use the Problend 650 for tart wax. I’ve also switched to the Premiere 700 series wicks. I need to do an updated video! 😂🤦🏻♀️
Hello, and thank you for watching and reaching out! I add my fragrance anywhere between 177-185. My preferred temperature is 180, so if I can pour it in at that...I’m happy. Lol Things work great when I’m not multitasking, and getting distracted, and can focus on just candles! That’s when I make that 180 degree pour! Lol but, that works best for me. Hope this helps!
@@nikkibayo awww thank you so much for responding. I love watching you I’m new to your channel. You bought the 494 from flaming candle correct and I can add more than 12% correct. Do you use all 16% in your wax melts.
@@daphneyjeanpierre2754 no problem, and I’m so happy you’ve joined the channel! So, what I’ve been using for quite some time now, is the Cargill C3 soy wax from Flaming candle for candles, and their Problend 650 for wax melts. With the wax melts, I usually use 16%, and the reason you can go that high, is because there’s no contact with flame, and no wick to deal with. But, I’d recommend not going higher than the 10% for candles. Sometimes, if you go higher than that, it can start to affect the way the wick burns, and can cause other issues, such as sweating. But, I do like a strong candle, and definitely ouch that 10%! I’m also a big one for sometimes pouring FO too fast, and over filling by a few grams here and there, and will generally just keep it that way and add it, so sometimes, I know I go over that 10% load. But, I try to stay around that 10%.
Okay, so for my wax melts, I usually do 16%, but I’m not gonna lie, it’s hard to pour and land exactly on the dot, and sometimes I ACCIDENTALLY pour a little more! Lol it’s not much, but, instead of 37g, I’ll pour 40g. I probably end up using 17%, to be honest. That gives me a very strong wax melt!!! I’d recommend trying a batch at 16%, and whatever other percentage you’re considering, and burn them to compare to test it! What type of tart wax are you using again? I use the Problend 650, and that percentage works really well!
How long does it take for you to smell your candles (HT) after you light them for the first time? I noticed you said it took 1.5 hours to smell in your kitchen and living room, wondering if that’s the usual time it takes for a large space like that. Thank you!
It depends. However, I did a burn test tonight on a 10% honeysuckle (14 ounce mason jar/double wicked with (2) CD 5’s, and I was blown away, that it kicked in probably 15 minutes after being lit. It was the strongest candle I’ve ever made. Most times, it takes a good 45 minutes.
@@angelk2551 absolutely! C3 is the only wax I will use for candles! C6 is a good runner up, but I haven’t used that in quite some time. Also, I will sometimes add 1/4 tsp of Vybar 260. It’s not actually necessary, because it’s a blended wax already, but I’m so used to dropping that 1/4 tsp, so I just keep doing it. Lol that can sometimes increase HT, as well as help with glass adhesion, and smoother tops. Lone Star Candle Supply sells 1 pound bags for less than $5! Flaming candle is a bit higher...$7. Hope this helps. Felt like I rambled. Lol
I thought the maxed fo is 6%, did you use additive? Currently using C3 here. Do I have to wait for cure time? I brought it the first time, haven’t try the other 444 or whatever number because they either have issue or sold out. The wick is a headache because I can’t find what I was looking for. Not even the sample pack. I was blown away by the CT. If I don’t have to wait two weeks for curing this would be a killer because I hate waiting.
I'm not sure I heard you correctly, did you say 13% in your melts?? Suppose the wax says 2%-10. %. You can add more than the wax says.( of course I'm new about 6months)
Oh I was not finished the video🤭 Thankyou for the explanation!! I did not know this.I was on the fence about the wax from CS.I use the f/0 from them but the reviews were 50/50. I will try the FCC was. Thank you🤗
Yes!!! Please try the C3!!!! And thank you! I add my fragrance oil at 178, stir for two minutes (I use a timer), and pour no lower than 168-170. Whatever the temp drops to in that 2 minute stirring phase, I usually just pour immediately after stirring. Hope this helps!
Thanks for reaching out! I’ve since stopped making candles, and only make wax melts, body sprays, and body butters, but before I stopped, I had begun blending the C3, with Problend 400 (both from flaming) and was using the Premiere 700 series. I’ve tried just about every wick out there, and the Premiere series burned beautifully for me. But, I’m not sure how they’d work with pure C3. I was using the CD wicks prior. But, CD wicks didn’t work with the 400. Lol hence, the reason I stopped making candles..🤣🤦🏻♀️
Thank you! Yes, I recently went on a Fillmore binge, and I’ve bought the C3 from them, as well as the problend 650! My latest candle video compares all of the different companies, and Fillmore is one of them! My only complaint about them, is that I’m not too fond of their fragrance oils, as it’s been a hit and miss. I ordered a coffee scent, and I couldn’t even use it, because it was more like burned coffee. But, as far as buying the waxes there...absolutely!
@@nikkibayo omg yes!!! So I have their hazelnut cappuccino and it smells like something is burnt. 100% hit and miss with the FO but I'm all for the wax and jars! They have soo many! @@SimpleClarityCo omg!!!! I’m not the only one then!!! Okay, so I bought their Frankincense and Myrrh, during the Christmas season, and I literally had to request a refund, because I could not use it!!! They did give me a refund, but it wasted so much wax! I had to dig it out of the jars and throw it all away. So agree...BIG HIT OR MISS! So much so, that I won’t purchase any fragrances from them anymore.
@@nikkibayo No you are not alone!!!! Lol I have a video on my channel about my winter fragrances and their cranberry plum was not cranberry but rather all fig and apricot and did not do it for me. But I mixed it with White Currant from Candle Science and magic happened so I got REALLY lucky! One sample I have that is like clean cologne and I'm excited to see how it works in c3 is their River Rock. But honestly I'm super hesitant to try anymore.
I been using igi 6006 for years and ive never poured at that high of a temp ( i typically pour at around 160-165f but in the winter i like to pour at around 170-175f with a 12% fragrance load)
I’ve tried pouring at three different temps, and I just cannot get a candle without the huge sink holes. When I first bought it, I went off of several reviews on pouring temp. None of them seemed to work for me, unfortunately.

I’m not sure, to be honest. I’ve never made pillar candles before, but I think paraffin and bees wax are used often. I don’t know is C3 soy would be hard enough. Sorry, I couldn’t be more helpful!
I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Candle Science tart/votive wax. I will say that different suppliers get different batches and especially with soy being a natural product, consistency is difficult to maintain and is likely a problem with the manufacturer rather than the distributor.

@@nikkibayo Thanks Nioaka for the detailed advice. Very informative. I will let you know how I get on 🙂
I watched your video and I agree, I am loving my c-3 candles.
@@nikkibayo are your customers complaining at all about the soot? Or the look of the c-3 post-burn?
No, not at all. In fact, I recently had a lady leave a review about how it burned so clean, which really gave me a sigh of relief!
Hey love at what temperature did you add your fragrance and pour for the 494 wax tart. So I can use more than 12% correct.
@@nikkibayo an I do more than 16 percent or you think that will be strong enough
Awesome, this is with the C3?
Lol
@@nikkibayo do you have experience using coconut oil in your c3?
Thank you🤗
Sorry...I use 16% in my melts! Thank you for watching! If you have any questions just let me know! I know my volume is very low!
@@shellybx3 just to clarify...I use the Problend tart wax from Flaming candle for melts, and the Cargill C3 for candles.
very informative video I am going to test C3 . at what temperature did you mix your FO and pour??
Yes!!! Please try the C3!!!! And thank you! I add my fragrance oil at 178, stir for two minutes (I use a timer), and pour no lower than 168-170. Whatever the temp drops to in that 2 minute stirring phase, I usually just pour immediately after stirring. Hope this helps!
@@nikkibayo just ordered some c3 from Fillmore I’ll let you know how the testing goes 👌🏼
Can you suggest what type wick for c3
Thanks for reaching out! I’ve since stopped making candles, and only make wax melts, body sprays, and body butters, but before I stopped, I had begun blending the C3, with Problend 400 (both from flaming) and was using the Premiere 700 series. I’ve tried just about every wick out there, and the Premiere series burned beautifully for me. But, I’m not sure how they’d work with pure C3. I was using the CD wicks prior. But, CD wicks didn’t work with the 400. Lol hence, the reason I stopped making candles..🤣🤦🏻♀️
I use c-3 as well. Try Fillmore Container they have all the cargill waxes. I want to try the elite and tart waxes from them
I'm actually in the process of watching your most recent video on this wax and suppliers. My toddler interrupted me haha going to finish now
@@SimpleClarityCo omg!!!!
Thank you 🙏🏼
I been using igi 6006 for years and ive never poured at that high of a temp ( i typically pour at around 160-165f but in the winter i like to pour at around 170-175f with a 12% fragrance load)
I’ve tried pouring at three different temps, and I just cannot get a candle without the huge sink holes. When I first bought it, I went off of several reviews on pouring temp. None of them seemed to work for me, unfortunately.
@@nikkibayo yeah sink holes can be a pain luckily i dont seem to get very many sink holes. tho i do get quite a few "dips" in my candles which can also become a pain which is why i have began experiment with other waxes
@@Crip2Knyght the joys of candle making! If we could only find the perfect wax, wick, and jar THE FIRST TIME! Lol I’m still struggling with wicks! I’ve been using the CD wicks, and the mushrooming and soot is so unsightly. Just ordered my first bag of HTP wicks, and waiting on those. The only other ones I’ve tried are the ECO, and I didn’t care for those. We chose a very expensive thing to do! Lol but, I do really love the Cargill C3! I recently made a new candle video, and went over some of my favorite to least favorite distributors, wicks, and waxes again, if you’re interested!
@@nikkibayo omg dont even get me started on wicks 😬😂ive been using wood wicks and recently ive had a few complaints from customers about the wicks emitting black smoke as soon as they lit the candles so now im force to close my etsy shop until i can find new wicks that work with my jars😫
@@Crip2Knyght oh no, I’m so sorry to hear this. I’ve wanted to try the wooden wicks, but it’s like opening Pandora’s box, and tons of money, and more testing. I hope you find something quickly. Like I said, I’m not happy with the CD or ECO wicks either. Lots of soot and mushrooming! Hoping to see improvement with HTP, but who knows. When reading reviews on ALL WICKS, most complain about soot and mushrooming.
Would anyone recommend C3 for pillar candles?
I’m not sure, to be honest. I’ve never made pillar candles before, but I think paraffin and bees wax are used often. I don’t know is C3 soy would be hard enough. Sorry, I couldn’t be more helpful!
@@nikkibayo thanks for the advice!
That was helpful. Thank youuu
Thank you so much! Sorry for such a late reply!
I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Candle Science tart/votive wax. I will say that different suppliers get different batches and especially with soy being a natural product, consistency is difficult to maintain and is likely a problem with the manufacturer rather than the distributor.
So sorry for the late response! Thank you for watching the video! I have continued to purchase from The Flaming Candle Co., and no problem! I will only work with Cargill C3, and Problend Tart/votive wax from FCC! Love their products!
cool!
It makes me laugh how disgusted you are with the frosting 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
