- Due to the vigorous training that one has to endure to become a soldier, most think it is a man’s job. However, soon after her A-levels, Naomi Karungi resolved to join the UPDF. Following the completion of her cadet training, she joined flight school. She has since risen to the rank of Major in the army and is a trusted pilot who flies helicopters.

Sad to note that Ms. Karungi Naomi was killed in a helicopter crash Jan. 28, 2020 in Butambala along with her trainee. It is a really sad day for UPDF and the nation of Uganda as a whole. May her soul rest in peace. KARUNGI NAOMI (1995-2020).😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
