That voice generator isn't totally crap, but yes, it kills any kind of personal touch of a video. Next step will be generating whole videos based on the training data. Videos smoothend for the average RUclips clickbait consumer. Is this the world we want? I don't! However I am not sure if activating that "don't use my videos for AI training" checkbox makes any difference ;-)

@@HomoFaciens Yeah, your voice is for me part of the atmosphere of the video. Maybe it's not the clearest accent but it has character and that's what matters to me and I found out this counts for a lot of people, though I don't want to speak for others. There is a chemist youtuber under the name of Thoisoi2 who recently has been trying out different voices and everyone kept commenting under his videos that they wanted to hear his original voice and in the end he realized it was part of why his channel became so popular so now he's presenting it all by himself and it works really well too 😊
Offering the AI track doesn't cost me time, so I'll keep that option. Besides the voice, the translation isn't perfect either. I tend to use phrases in German that seem to be hard to translate for the AI and I love using non standard phrases (often hard to transfer these in English for me, too).
Warum hat das Auge beim Tischtennisball bei 4:10 nicht perfekt getroffen? Ist das ein Fehler im G-Code? An der Maschine lag es nicht, oder? Wie wird der G-Code dafür produziert? Muss der manuell geschrieben werden?
Doch, die Mechanik ist so schlecht. Wenn ich mal wieder etwas Zeit habe, baue ich Untersetzungsgetriebe ein, ecentuell mit Zahnriemen. Der Stift an dem langen Arm erfordert schon so einiges an Drehmoment für den X-Motor. Klappt gerade so, aber mit Untersetzung geht's auf jeden Fall besser. Gcode verwende ich nicht. Es werden SVG Dateien abgearbeitet und das Python Skript sendet die extrahierten X/Y-Koordinaten an den Arduino. @@HomoFaciens Beim Anschauen hätte ich das eigentlich vermutet, aber das andere Auge wurde so gut getroffen, dass ich nicht erwartet hätte, dass ausgerechnet in der einen Bewegung so ein Fehler entsteht. Danke für den Hinweis zur Homepage und für die Antwort. Die Existenz der Homepage hatte ich ganz vergessen und Homepages sind viel zu selten geworden inzwischen. Das mit der Software klingt gut. Viel zu leicht hat man bei Eigenbauten Softwarelösungen, die so komplex sind, dass das Ergebnis nach ein paar Monaten kaum mehr für einen selbst nutzbar ist und bei der Hardware würde ich als Mathematiker das Problem dann als Gelöst betrachten. Dass du erfolgreich Untersetzungen eingesetzt hast, sieht man auf dem Kanal ja.
Though HF's English is excellent, I did actually find the perfect native flow of this voice easier to listen to (at least sped up ≥ 2x, as I watch most things 😆). My uncultured American ears are entirely at fault, but I actually DIDN'T skip this one and I've been skipping them recently 😅! The main issue is since the AI voice is recognizable, it's a strong and immediate signal of *FULLY* AI generated content of extremely low quality, not a problem here since I knew I was watching an HF video. Fast-forward into the future where translations use the original creator's voice... I don't think I would hate that to be honest! Maybe we're a long way from a video site that combines e.g. RUclips and BiliBili, etc... but Star Trek level of universal translation would be so cool.

Ich hatte ein modifiziertes Marlin auf einen Arduino Uno, was mit G-CODES gearbeitet hat. Die Software hat mir aber gefehlt, die aus SVG G-Code macht und ich hab es nicht fertig bekommen. Wie funktioniert denn dein Aufbau, du hast ein Python Script, so weit so klar. Ich vermute du hast selbst einen Arduino Sketch geschrieben, der dann Anhand der Commandos die auf den Bildschirm zu sehen sind gesteuert werden. Und dann hast du ein PythonScript geschrieben, das das SVG File ausließt und in die Bewegung umrechnet, und deine eigenen Kommandos an den Comport sendet also b'0', b"1" für breite etc. pp.? korrekt? Lieben Gruß Ben

I do prefer the AI dubbed version as I struggle with your accent quite a lot, leading me to skip videos when I don't have the mental energy. I started working on an eggbot derivative back in 2019. I had just gotten it working but not tuned when I put it aside for another project (the list is endless, right?) and just returned to it a couple months ago. Mine is pretty crappy because I'm using 24byj48 motors instead of NEMA17s but I did get it to the point where text was legible and looked like an adult wrote it instead of a toddler. I might get around to more improvements eventually but I have this other project to work on first... :D
Well, my eggbot isn't perfect either. I might implement a geared (timing belt) version to improve print quality if I find some time to do so (oh, yes, this permanently growing, endless list!). It is nothing but a fun project, yet. And it is fun watching it. About the audio track: The idea behind offering choices is that people choose the one that is best for them.
