….It's mainly because I want to keep the skin on my face 😬
There's been a lot of controversy surrounding Trisha Paytas' skincare line. I use that term very lightly as they are really only the face of the brand.
From questionable production methods to burnt skin allocations, This skincare collab could possibly be the worst skincare line of 2021.
I even put their sunscreen to the test and….well…let's just say it didn't pass my very unscientific test!
Everything in this video is my opinion and alleged allegations!

When I was a kid I used to mix leaves and flower petals together in some water and try to get my family to wear my "perfume." This business reminds me of that
Omgggggg I used to do that too! I once made a perfume out of petals, grass, milk and coloured sand 🙃
yess! i would use flower petals.
Same.
😂 same ! I made my own perfume with flowers I found during a kindergarten field trip.
That's literally the cutest thing I've ever read and also accurate for this brand
This skin care brand represents Trisha Paytas perfectly.. and that’s all I’m gonna say. Thank you James for reviewing this very questionable product.
You were much more polite than I was in my comment above, lol!
That is definitely the most real way of describing the whole situation
I mean Trishas skin does look amazing these days, but I know it’s not the products, but simply all the weekly facials she’s been doing (she slipped up on the frenemies podcast and was talking about how she had went)

"The dog done shitted in my office" is something that should never be heard at any sort of medical office.
Is it medical tho? Shouldn't be at just about any professional place of work but idk if id.call anything Trisha does medical work

As someone with a dog allergy which sometimes makes me break out in hives, the idea of someone just... having dogs in their manufacturing rooms... is a bit terrifying to me?
Exactly and many dog narcissistic owners feel entitled to take their mutts everywhere. They think it’s cute while they don’t many people have different opinions about how they view the world. It’s a huge problem mostly in USA
Exactly. I’m allergic to cat/dog fur (despite having a cat lol). They she’d like crazy. You don’t even have to be around them to get their fur on you, so it’s obvious that some of the fur got into the product
No legitimate laboratory and manufacturing facility would have a dog in it. There's no way her "facility" would pass any legal inspections. Super not okay
It is terrifying. I am allergic to cats fur and once i bought a lotion from online shop. When i opened the box they have a bit of animal fur sticking to the sticker, later i found out that the owner own a cat and they let the cat inside the office and manufacturing rooms. Animals should be separated and prohibited especially when you work in this area :(
@@desertmoonlee6631 sounds like you have a personal problem with dogs
The most appalling thing is Trisha has the money to actually collaborate with a certified dermatologist and a legit lab, yet they chose to do this :)
I highly doubt a board certified dermatologist would collaborate with Trisha. They are a highly controversial figure and have been through multiple “cancellations.” It would be a huge financial risk and hit to their reputation. Trisha, however, could seek skincare advice and treatments from a top dermatologist as a patient instead of relying on someone with little to no credentials.
Actually she doesnt. She doesnt manage her money at all. She just blindly spends. Shes pretty broke now. And shes now lost frenemies and is about to lose OF. Moses is gonna end up supporting her.
@@MeraOnMars lol good
@@MeraOnMars in the last off the rails podcast, Ethan said he's still paying trish for frenemies. He said he just recently sent a check. Which sucks because..fuck trisha
Right! I can’t quite imagine why she would do this instead. Like, imagine if the products actually had good ingredients and were formulated by esthetician’s working closely with a lab and the products really worked. She’s doing herself and her fans a huge disservice. It’s just so damn obvious this is just another cash grab, she doesn’t care about anything as long as she makes money from it. It just doesn’t make sense bcuz if it was actually good she could make so much more money from it and it wouldn’t have to be temporary bcuz people would keep buying it.
I was DONE at the dog poop in a client room! She’s SO unprofessional, and I’m embarrassed FOR her🤦🏾♀️
And she put it up online 🤦♀️🤦♀️
For real, that made me cringe, dog poop near skin products is a deal breaker.
Add to that, something clearly falls on the floor. Sanitary.
When? I want to know how bad it is never mind I saw it 6:22
Sadly many dog owners are narcissistic and their mutts everywhere even in supermarket and places where there is food and they always claim their dog is better and want everyone to like it. We have a huge dog culture worship in america and those who put fake dog service in purpose to take them everywhere where many people are uncomfortable being around dogs because they just can’t stand dogs saliva or smell
As an esthetician, seeing Charlotte Wilson's "practice" is infuriating. Practicing skincare or cosmetology without a license or education is illegal (at least in New Jersey), but the fact that she has a waiver probably allows her to beat around the law. Google, RUclips, and TikTok are not esthetics school.
I saw someone say that in LA you dont need a license and its considered a "beauty" treatment and not a "medical" treatment. Not sure if its true though
@@kimsoyoon0197 I wouldn’t be surprised. Around the 80s 90s there was an investigation into plastic surgery in FL. I believe it was the Miami area ,Any one dr was able to be one. Didn’t need further schooling/education . As long as u were a MD. So your gynecologist could be your cosmetic surgeon.
You don’t need a license in some places and google, RUclips and tik too are certainly places to learn things. Most schools are online now anyways. Hair dressers don’t need to learn about curly hair to get their licenses so for some things I trust self taught people.
I lived in cali and went to makeup school there. The only thing that does not require a license is if you exclusively do makeup. But to be a hairstylist or an esthetician requires a license. If you work at a salon you’re also required to be licensed. As makeup artists we’re allowed to do very basic facials, like cleansing the skin, lightly messaging, and moisturizing. But we can’t do more than that, we can’t even pluck eyebrows unless we’re a licensed esthetician
@@abcefg4504 so someone reading a random article online knows as much as i do about veterinary medicine after 6 years of school?
I don't trust anyone that "gives the credit to God" (and takes the money for themselves)
Basically no personal accountability.
They're saying, if you have a problem with me, you have a problem with god. It's this whole other level when it's just bad business practices.
Religion should never be a person's excuse for their own actions. If i got a cent for everytime i've personally had someone try play something off on 'god' when it's clearly their doing, then just walk off as if its no longer their problem. I'd honestly be a very rich person by now.
Yes. I also hate when politicians do this to manipulate people. It’s uber tacky
Yeah, there's no "god" involved in business.
"I gave my money to god, that's why I can't pay taxes on the money you think I have...pinky promise." ;)
You can give credit to God for blessings HOWEVER you are responsible for the actions you take.
Doesn’t God require a 10% cut of the takings? If you are given a gift, and you profit from that gift, then all God asks for in return is that 10% of that profit goes back to him..which could be in this instance investing 10% of the profit into the local community, stuff like a scholarship for people who would like to become qualified in the field but cannot afford the tuition in order to do so etc etc.
I believe Trisha took accutane to clear her skin as she had cystic acne . It is absolutely cruel to say that this line cleared her skin of cystic acne. I say this as we have seen some common accutane side effects on Trisha such as dry skin etc…. To market such BS is awful especially when it comes to the face . Skin issues on the face (other areas) can have serious impact on mental health so transparency SHOULD be law. Xxx
I can't believe she sold jars of random untested ingredients from an unlicensed dermatologist. It's almost so blatantly a scam that I think maybe she WANTS to be caught as if to generate more controversy.
She had dry skin because she had chemical peels & also doesn’t use skin products except for alcohol filled makeup remover wipes. If you see her skin lately it’s just as bad as ever.

When she said she wasn’t an esthetician I was shook. In America you can become an esthetician with less than a one year time investment. Imagine working for yourself and having a reliable stream of income and not being willing to get even the slightest bit of training to add consumer confidence and professional credibility to your brand.
SCARY! She should be reported... I wouldn't sign anything that woman handed to me!
In LA and Cali it's a little harder to become an esthetician. But that's why you don't need to be licensed to do things as long as the costumer is made aware. It's a beauty service then and not a medical one
Any effort is too much
@@agilley91 it's sad it's not seen as a medical service because in these salons they work with acids that can literally burn your face of if not used correctly. Your skin is an organ too...
@@agilley91 its a 6 month program queen lol
I wish I had known I could have just used my gifts from god to do skincare on others, instead of wasting thousands of dollars on my esthetics license.

"She has a client sign a waiver" RUN! RUN! DON'T WALK! RUN!
I am a licensed cosmologist. Yes it is illegal. In America it's illegal if she is getting paid. If she's doing it for free, moral grey area.
8:14 I'm a licensed aesthetician and while I can't speak for all states, I know in mine (because knowing the state law is part of obtaining your licensure) you can't even apply things to the face without a license. Even if she's only applying skincare or whatever it is she's doing there, you can't do that without proper schooling and going through the necessary steps with the state board of whatever state you live in.
And about the dog - dogs are not allowed in salons or spas unless they're a service dog. No emotional support animals, no "special circumstances" because Fifi gets scared when she's alone. It's a hygiene issue, as clearly demonstrated by that there doggo. Ugh.
@@telepathicmagicshop guide dogs for the blind are considered service animals, which are allowed.
Mom is an aesthetician in California and for some procedures she has to go get certifications AND have a registered doctor who approves of her practicing certain procedures. You go to school for any treatment that goes past the dermis on someone (chemicals and cutting) Also, certain companies won't even sell product to you without a aesthetician license! There's checks and balances so people don't get hurt by people like this!
I just can’t get over the literal dog sh’t on the floor of the treatment room
Disgusting .
it was disgusting and highly unprofessional
You don’t make your own choices, the algorithm does.
A couple of points:
1) According to Trisha’s Tiktok they use she/her/they/them pronouns
2). The sunscreen camera isn’t just an app. It’s a separate UV camera that you plug into a phone (android only) that works through that app. I’m aware camera phones don’t have the technology to see UV but I didn’t make that clear!
3). I do want to stress that Trisha Paytas is purely the face of this brand. From what I’ve seen and heard from the launch video, they’ve had no input in the ingredients, formulations or even the types of products launched. This is no hate, in the nicest way, I don’t care for influencer drama. I do care about subscribers buying potentially harmful / questionable products 💜
not to be mean, but a quick google search about someone as controversial as TP (or any youtuber for that matter) would’ve helped. these days, you’re simply paying for the face and not the products. Research before shilling your money
Ah thank you so much for pointing that out! All changed 💜
I 100% should’ve googled them before purchasing the products! And yes that’s great advice for an average consumer but my business pays for these things so it’s no loss for me haha
What r those things keeping your hair out of the face & how do I get them?
James, I love your videos! I don't normally comment but something I noticed about the 'ingredients list' is that the ingredients are not even listed properly - the scientific names of plant ingredients are incorrectly written, omitted, in place of the common name or misleading. For example, "Organic White Willow Bark Extract, Salix Alba Tea Tree Leaf Oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia)" is incorrect. White willow (Salix alba) and tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) are two different plants and should be separated ingredients with correct scientific names in parentheses. This could be especially problematic for anyone with allergies. Thank you for bringing this to people's attention, I hope no one is hurt by these products.
The woman who has burns that look like second degree/partial thickness burns (obv just guessing but that’s how it appears to me as a nurse) my main concern is: if it was a case of user error WHAT do they have in these products that is strong enough to cause a burn like that?? User error is to be expected, they shouldn’t be selling things that can give you a second degree burn if used twice a week instead of once! Redness and peeling is one thing, her skin appeared blistered and burned beyond the epidermis.
I mean I've heard of that happening for people that used the AHA 30/BHA 2 ordinary peeling solution because they didn't work their way up to tolerating such a high concentration of chemical exfoliants prior to its use / their skin was just that sensitive.
Not saying this is the same thing, because there are a lot of things the Ordinary has done better than how this brand was released, but it's interesting to note the difference between how both products are received.
Exactly!! And they’re just ignoring her and expecting the situation to go away
I mean, in a way, "user error" can only go so far. People used to eat Tide Pods. Should Tide have known better than bring a product to market because a bunch of dumb kids would eat them? I don't know the situation surrounding those burns, but while the company should be sure to make a safe product, individual people must also know what works for their skin.
@@iceangel3602I think type of product makes a big difference of how careful you can expect people to be when using it. When something is called a "Peeling Solution" and a "10-minute Exfoliating Facial" you can expect people to be wary of how often and how long they can expose their skin to it. But no one is gonna expect a "Day Cream" or "Miracle Elixier" toner to be that harsh on their skin. And Trisha's products don't seem to have a any warning labels on the products while TO clearly states you shouldn't use it too often, too long, on broken or sensitive skin and advises patch testing before use.
I had a similar reaction and burn from The Ordinary's Glycolic Acid. It wasn’t their product, it was my skin's reaction. I actually went to the ER because it was so fast and so painful, even though I followed directions. I know the bottle was good because I had borrowed a friend's to try before buying and she used before and after. Turns out u have a severe sensitivity to Glycolic Acid. Not saying that the company should ignore her, but I think more information is needed. Also, why anyone would trust anything from Trisha Paytas near their face is beyond me.
James: “it’s a bit tacky”
Me: …….have you SEEN Trisha?

Not related to the topic, but SUPER COOL that you have a Sunscreener!
This device has so much potential for content! You could make a video showing how much a SPF looses its effect through the day, how much it recovers when re-applied, the difference in strength in different SPFs (15, 30, 50, etc), etc! It would be super interesting!
YES!!! PLEASE DO JAMES!!! I often get confused about it. Some said that spf30 lasts 3000 minutes, others says that re applying 2 and 2 hours is best. I would love a video on this.
I need more education on sunscreen! Like, I get you should apply before sun exposure and reapply as you are in the sun but with the recommendation of wearing it daily- do you need it if you work in an office and don’t have much/any outside exposure (that sounds so sad to say outloud, lol)
I would love a video on this!
Is it an app
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and refers to the theoretical amount of time you can stay in the sun without getting sunburned. For example, an SPF of 15 would allow you to stay in the sun 15 times longer than you could without protection. The amount of time a sunscreen lasts for, depends on how easily you burn in the first place.

I think it’s telling that Trisha was getting facials and other professional treatments right before this launched. There is no proof that this is what cleared up her skin.
I mean, her skin after those treatments still is not looking good, it shows, she doesn't take care of it afterwards.
I can almost guarantee Trisha didn't actually use any of these products 🙄🙄 this whole situation infuriates me! Ugh!

Right? Why didn't she launch a line of sex toys or something? That would have made more sense with her "brand." Maybe she has done that already idk
As someone with a sun intolerance, that ”SPF” is the scariest of all. If I left my face unprotected like that I would have a serious reaction to the sun. Imagine thinking you’ve got SPF on when you don’t… I’ve never heard of that UV app, but I will def get it!

@@swedishmake-upgeek5650 yep, you can literally feel the pin pricks of the sun's radiation in summer, not even around midday, but at 8am. It's like little tiny needles.

If you are like me and have mostly European heritage (like Scottish, English, Scandinavian etc), you are so, so, so screwed.
I can get burnt within 10 minutes in summer time. It's not a good achievement. I'm also on acne meds that make me more photosensitive, which is NOT helpful. I essentially turn into a vampire come summer (even around now tbh, UV is certainly going up)
I also have a fun story about the time I got badly burnt on my scalp while swimming, got a secondary infection and lost quite literally half my hair, so yeah sunscreen and other forms of sun protection are extremely important.

I took a look at Charlotte Wilson's other products on Glow Skin Enhancement, and the prices she seems to be charging are astronomical, for instance her 'anti-aging bar soap is $65!!! i don't get how she can charge this much for products that look like she mixed them in her kitchen lol

I’m a RN and I could just imagine going around without any license telling people to trust me with their lives because I have a gift from god to heal people 😵💫
When I studied to become a licensed aesthetician in Sweden I learned that the title "dermatologist/esthetician" etc isn't a protected professional title = ANYONE can open a beauty salon and do treatments... I can only imagine it's similar in other countries.
Preying on people who are desperate is awful (as James said, if you want to launch a skincare brand, collaborate with a dermatologist/knowledgeable expert).
I hope 2022 won't be like this, everyone jumping on the train creating skincare line, we have enough 😪
We really have 😭
To be honest, I'll like to see more skincare focus for brown to deep skin. Like that's something we should consider to make more instead.
@@Enidwonders YES, diversity in skincare is needed what i meant people coming up with same skincare just repeating what's already in the market ☺️
@@Enidwonders what does that mean? Skincare focused for brown skin? Or diversity in skincare. Skin structure in every race is the same. Yes melaninated women are more prone to hyperpigmentation, but the treatment for that would be the same as that for lighter skinned people. And treatments for those are already available in the market. Skincare isn't makeup that you'd need different products for different skin tones. We need different products for different skin types and skin concerns.
@@bibimbap5917 agreed. The only thing i will object to is Sunscreen. We brown to dark skinned tend to look like corpses because of the white cast which won’t be visible on caucasian and far East Asian skin
Why would I want to buy skincare from someone who uses a million filters?
I'm a licensed esthetician, what she's doing isn't legal but its kinda a loophole because nobody will enforce anything on her unless she starts hurting her clients and they all call the department of health on her. Her making people sign waivers won't protect her if she does harm to her clients though.
I would love to see a video reacting to molly Burke’s video reviewing ACCESSIBLE SKINCARE. Skincare with Braille and with universal design concepts (not just accessible to certain people, but designed in a way that’s beneficial to everyone, a really interesting concept!).

It's absolutely not legal. It's practicing medicine without a license.
That's absolutely wild!
I didn’t think so. It’s worrying
@@JamesWelsh absolutely. It's really concerning that she isn't qualified since she won't have had to learn the hygiene and sterilization of the place. If she's not doing that properly she could end up spreading HIV or Hepatitis between patients (in the loosest sense of the word. You can't really have patients without medical training) if instruments have any blood on them. They could spread skin infections. They absolutely could and probably are making skin conditions worse. The fact that on top of the risks for people who go see her is the people who buy their skin care are also put at risk? Abhorrent. The fact that the sunscreen may not even be sunscreen? Alarming. People could be going out and thinking they're protected with that product and end up with serious burns on their face and eventual skin cancer.

Truly. I do not know why influencers/public figures like to promo themselves in R&D concocting with no regard for hygiene or contamination... no hair net or mask to be seen. Troubling.
She was laughing about that on Frenemies, as that entire video was a spoof. Trisha even said there's no way that ingredients could be mixed like that for hygiene and contamination reasons. However, a "spoof" to launch a skincare line?! That's even crazier than the actual (and suspect) products!!
@@claudialevesque6993 Lol, that's Trisha. She thinks making a "spoof" is a brilliant way to launch a skincare line. There's a time for trolling and girl, this is not the time. It’s just like trish to go to someone who’s not an aesthetician or dermatologist when developing a skincare, and at the same time go to a dermatologist or aesthetician for professional peels etc.

Ok, I live in Australia and my Mum wanted to go into beauty therapy. She found a course and they were being taught how to make skincare pretty much in their kitchen. Like literally mixing formulas with a kitchen mixer. After my Mum got her diploma she was making like hand creams and all kinds of different skin products. I would order her these little jars to put the products into. This was in the early 2000’s and my Mum’s clients were just friends and family who were all satisfied with her services and some even got their skin conditions under control. Well one day my Mum had to provide her diploma in order to buy some ingredients to use to make creams and it all went downhill. Turns out my Mum was given a fake diploma for the course she completed, the course she paid $10’000 for. She was devastated. The woman who ran the course turned out to be a fraud.
Luckily nobody was ever hurt or anything but yeah BE CAREFUL WHO YOU GIVE YOUR MONEY TO. DO YOUR RESEARCH OUT THERE EVERYONE.
It’s Trisha Paytas, my expectations were low to start with lol who in the world thought it would be a good idea to give this woman a skin care line
She's thanking God for her "gift" 😂 I bet if something goes wrong she'll blame the Devil or say it was just God's will. 💀
I feel this is the same principle as self taught makeup artists. Talent for application - yes without a doubt. Knowledge of products, skin conditions, health conditions and contradictions - little to none which poses a risk during application. But not many agree with this and get offended x
Her skin seemed to start clearing up around the same time she now admits she quit drugs. Now I’m no doctor.. but I am a qualified drug & alcohol worker and in my experience, the two come hand in hand. Without magical skin care.

If anybody is complaining about Trisha and all her drama don't let that stop you from trying to get the word out there that these products are not worth spending someone's money. Omg yes!!!
Katie Price is so utterly gross. Just like Tricia, but even worse, if that’s even possible.
Revolution beauty still sell some of it on their website. 🤨
At the very least Katie went to a legitimate company to make her stuff and it wasn't mostly skincare. Trisha's all skincare and went to someone who's not even licensed at the first place and the ingredient list is absent.

Yes I completely agree with what James said, there’s a difference between a skincare/skin enthusiast vs an actual dermatologist or clinical esthetician. Its so hard now a days because every influencer comes out with their own brand yet they don’t have any actually training/formal education. I’m a clinical esthetician by practice and it’s frustrating a lot the info and stuff put out by some influencers.

Thanks for your hard work, James.
If you have a dermatologist or esthetician or chemist work on your brand before launch it would definitely make it safer for usage and sale.
"For any problematic skin" yeah but, what does she mean? 😬
Trisha claimed the products worked amazingly on their skin yet they had a chemical peeling mask on the day their products launched. (This can be seen in one of the frenemies videos.)
I believe she does the chemical peels more to get rid of dark spots and scarring which take a very long time to go away even or their own even if your skin is improving breakout wise
@@rosebud9372 they are known to do chemical peels however if you are promoting/coming up with a skin care product that claims to help with acne wearing a chemical peel the same day the products are being released and promoted, it is simply not the right move to do for the brand nor the products. The products will be found/seen questionable.

I looked into ordering, just to see if there were any warnings etc., but in their terms of service it resolves the company of any liability once you buy it.
If the company is found guilty of gross negligence in the manufacturing process then whatever waiver they make you click or sign won’t hold up in court.

I do remember hearing about how the brand owner was attacking customers when they did complain about their packages being packed badly and other issues. I guess she has since apologized, but too little too late. That's not how a brand owner acts and reacts to customers.
When they didn't put ingredients on the bottle itself, it sounds shady. We call it "skincare timbang kilo" at my place. Meaning skincare that is just bought in huge volume and pre-packaged and re-branded. Cheap way to become a millionaire.
