People always talk about Anthony being a rapper and a weak link. He’s been a good singer since blood sugar sec magic era (1991) and after. Here’s notable songs:
“Under the bridge”
“breaking the girl”
“Otherside”
“By the way”
“Don’t forget me”
The whole stadium arcadium album
Yes, he raps (over flea’s funky bass lines, what else would you expect?), yes he’s eccentric & juvenile, but don’t discredit the rest of his singing abilities if you don’t like the other stuff.
He’s brave enough to put himself out there and try different things.
I personally don’t think any singer could ever fill his spot. Just my opinion
I'm a massive fan of RHCP, the issue seems to be that people think he's a not very good singer and when live, he's worse. Once again, I'm a fan, have been for YEARS but I get it. Also, I don't think anyone else could be their frontman, he just fits even though he's not the best singer by far.
He's very limited in what he can do, it doesn't mean he sucks.
It's really cool that someone with the experience you've had is doing RUclips and interacting with audience, honestly I appreciate it and hope you know you're absolutely fantastic, I probably have heard your work dozens of times without even knowing it, and that's just so weird but cool at the same time. I really you hope you grow here on YT and awareness of your channel spreads.
Thanks so much for this comment, I really appreciate it!
I think they did it again. Its going to be a classic and be on the radio 50 years from now. Enjoy the moment you all!
They can't please everyone ... either you like or you don't, I love it
I hate how people take little dogs and shots at Anthony, he is Chilli peppers, his voice is so recognisable and is the chillis sound. His lyrics are out there but when you do break them down they are incredible. All 4 of them come together and amalgamate to be what you need them to be which is beautiful. John is my hero, thought I’d never get to see them together live again…. Role on April 1st, can’t control my excitement.
Never get the Anthony hate. "Can't stop, addicted to the shindig". That line is just great.
John and Flea are the reason why i learned guitar and bass back when I was 9. (I'm 35 now) I had a little local career with my band vom 1999 to 2009. I played with a few other bands and since 2010 i record music only for my self. But maybe i'm in a new band next month. But with or without band, i still will make music, inspired by RHCP, by John and Flea.
Thank you for sharing the story, totally subbed for that. I am a big Chili Pepper fan going way back. I can't wait to hear more off this new album. This single blew my mind.
Flea went on Instagram Live today and literally told this exact same story… crazy!! I’m sure you can find the Livestream online.
What?!! Which one? The barfing or the plane?
@@BarrettJonesProducer He told the story of the rock stars on the plane in South America! Literally almost exactly how you told it, minus Anthony kicking in the cockpit. Type in “Flea Instagram live stream February 2022” and it pops right up.
I adore AK's weirdness and poetic lyricism. Such an outstanding goofball along with his virtuoso bandmates 🌶❤🌶
I want to hear more of the stories with you and the bands. Dont let them get lost, please put them out on here. Subbed after that, liked the song and loved the story backdrop.
Thanks!
Not my original thought, but it stuck with me: this song will sound great live.
This song references the 2019/20 'black summer' bushfires here in Australia, John rejoined right at the time and this was written shortly after
Obviously there's references to the Australian animals which died in droves and "Night is dressed like noon" references how in some towns the sky glowed all night as fire surrounded them. I'm guessing "a sailor spoke to soon" is referencing that old adage "red at night sailors delight" meaning good weather the next day which is obviously wrong in this case
I think he is saying how bad the past couple years have been (in multiple ways). “Been a long time since I made a new friend” references the Covid Pandemic and the lockdowns as a result of it. “China’s on the dark side of the moon” references China being a growing threat the US in multiple ways. “The night is dressed like noon” most likely references the 2020-2021 California Firestorms which are currently hold the record for being the largest, deadliest, and most costly, wildfires in the history of both California, and the US in general. The band is from San Francisco, California in the US after all. “A sailor spoke too soon” is referencing both the Covid Pandemic and California Firestorms, as in both cases, people, including experts, originally thought that both events would end relatively quickly; which both events certainly did not do so.
We need more of this kind of content here. Genuine, paced, and insightful content.
Pretty amazing - Anthony Kiedis has developed from being a rather under average singer to a real solid singer. His voice has had a high recognition value always though. I love this song and I'm very exited to see the boys play live soon.
Cool song, and very cool stories too! Keep going!
I know some folks like to point out that Anthony isn’t a great singer, which I suppose is correct. But he is PERFECT for this band ❤️ Just like Billy Corgan, Neil Young, Dave Mustaine etc. are all perfect for their respective endeavors.
He may not be the greatest singer of all time but he sure is an amazing frontman/entertainer.
People recognize Frusciante guitar sounds from the start... guy is legendary
love that we have the capability to hear amazing stories in this day and age. excited for this channel
Once my work day is over, can't wait to watch this. The tune had been garnering some buzz, positive and negative and I have yet to listen. I will later today and then can't wait to watch your take. Keep these up!
Woah, with your background in the industry and video quality this channel is bound to blow up, glad I found it! If you have any more cool stories from your time with the peppers I'd love to hear em
Thanks!
Fruciante has a talent for playing the notes that hit u in the gut
I love so much . Black Summer the RED HOT CHILLI PEPPER 🤘♥️THANK YOU FROM QUÉBEC CANADA 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for this really nice review. The history in the final is awesome ❤️🌶️👏
Don't forget that the guitarist is also the BEST Playing Rock Guitar. And i think it's
The Perfect song of Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Barrett, thank you for sharing your insights and first-hand stories! So, I totally stumbled onto this clip, because I love the new RHCP song and wanted to see the reactions of joy from others...BUT you have been instrumental (pardon the pun) on some of the greatest music of my childhood (early 90s) and adulthood (2000s-today). I saw the Foos in Pensacola, FL in 2007 and it was hands down the best arena show I have ever seen. Keep being magical good sir! Best regards, David
I'm a fan of your work with Nirvana e Foo Fighters too! Thanks!
Good insights and anecdotes man. And yes, the chili peppers are one of the most important bands in rock history. These guys were the best live band when they were are their peak. And still, a big attraction in the industry. Can't wait to hear their new album. New subscriber here, cheers.
First listen the song was good but nothing to crazy but more and more I listen to it I actually love it. And it's cool you have worked with all these great bands.
I was there in Rio show!! Crazy times!!
Why can I see everyone freaking out during the plane story except Kurt and Dave staring at each other laughing like Beavis and Butthead lol
Love this dude. Hilarious Anthony story at the end 🤣 I have liked and subscribed, keep it going!
I loved your read6 and those stories, especially being a Brazilian myself. Thanks for sharing them. I'm now a new subscriber :)
Awesome Barrett! Thanks for this much welcomed channel...
Great commentary, Barrett! It was fun to watch. Saludos!
John Frusciante is back! You should check out his solo stuff too.
Thank you for this!
Hey Barrett, I really enjoyed the video!
Your view on things is interesting. You are an extremely smart and modest person and that is rare in this world.
I suggest for upcoming videos that you would edit them a bit more and not have them as a oneshot vid. It would make them easier to watch and more entertaining (and shorter! this video could have been a lot shorter).
Also, add segments into the video to help people know their way around the video.
Good luck, looking forward for more videos!
Yes, Anthony has a mustache and a mullet, and they are both epic
Really liked the video! My two cents is to make sure your mic volume is equal the music. I had to keep turning up the volume to listen to what your saying and turn it down for the song
Yes, sorry for some reason this one was weird with the vocal volume
cool stories, looking forward for more
I'm from Brazil and I can tell you that the brazilian airlines are the craziest for sure hahaha. Nice review, thanks for your contribuition to music production through the years man.
Thanks for your analizing the new singer...i Saw chili peppers a few weeks ago in Seville... The first i've been John gets back in the band... A really nice show!!! They Almost round 60s years all and still get energy like ten year ago...i LOVE these band so much...a trully artists.
I Hope see them once more.
Absolutely four legends! 👌 btw, I love the stash and the mullet 😅 Anthony's turning 60 years old this year. TX from Québec Canada 🇨🇦 🤟
Red Hot Chili Peppers Brasil 🇧🇷🌶️🇧🇷🌶️🇧🇷🌶️🇧🇷🌶️🇧🇷🌶️🇧🇷🌶️🇧🇷🌶️🇧🇷👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Your mic volume was so low man. Haha the irony
I really wasn't sure about this on the first listen but it's earwormed pretty easy, despite the bizarre vocals and the chorus being a bit cheap.
The solo is great, especially given this is pretty much a crowd pleasing pop song.
You Rock Barrett! ✊🏽
Thanks Cain
jajaa, thank you for that anecdote !! xD
Just a heads up, your mic is pretty quiet
I think AK has a California mini-mullet 😂
Flea "he is just a monster" 👏
The review of the song was a "meh" one but the little stories you mention are gold!
It's time for you to put a book of your memories together. Seriously.
Really dig your breakdowns Barrett!!
AK’s vocals in the first part of the song sound kind of like an Irish folk song (e.g. Foggy Dew). Of course not the same vocal range of some of the great Irish singers but very cool!
Sir, you really wasn't sure if Frusciante is back in the band. Just wow
I know right. Couldn’t do 5 seconds of research but makes fun of Anthony’s hair……:
Fave new channel on here! Instant sub!
thanks!
Nice stories, Barrett. And, yeah, one more greate tune from this magical band.
Great reaction! Anthony’s voice is heavy coated in auto tune, but the re introduction of John Frusciante is so much welcomed by me.
Pitch correction is not auto tune
Anthony sounds Irish lol
Oh my god, the pressure of landing that plane got too much for the pilot 🤣🤣
Your pilot was probably Dave Grohl
Lead in vocals remind me of Jethro Tull.
I can hear that…don’t know why he sings with what at points sounds like a Scottish highland accent
I mean they still got it :P Thats what id say
Very nice! Had to
keep adjusting the volume when you were talking however. So soft spoken....
Sorry about that, still working out the kinks!
@@BarrettJonesProducer No worries! Not nearly as annoying as the autotune on Anthony's vocals!
@@michaelburrows4562 it's not even THAT noticeable. Anthony is not one known to have the best pitch so who cares. He's doing what he's gotta do.
Just wonder why Anthony is singing with that strange accent in parts of the song . . .
Homage to all the leprechauns.
Because he's cool bro, because he's cool yo!
Sea shanty pirate voice
Was that Airline Varig?? If so, I'm not surprised it was a dangerous landing!!! Lol
Yes it was Varig! They were a sponsor of the festivals and we had to fly with them.
@@BarrettJonesProducer Thanks for the stories. Great insight.
Reacciona a Soda Stereo "la ciudad de la furia"saludos!
Brazilian airplane...maybe TAM or VARIG 🤔
Can't hear ya mate
Your mic level was way too low.
Now... Go Robot!
I’m not into the inflection he puts on the vocals. He sounds like a northern Canadian eh
Mosters band?
When he says “waitin on another black summer to end” it reminds me a lot of Carrie underwood singing “waitin all day for a Sunday night”🤔
:)
love your channel.... this song not so much. If you would have told me back in the 80s that someday I'd think RHCP was boring I would never have believed it...
"boring" no way
Just can't get into this band. John's playing is so derivative of Hendrix that it becomes predictable. That, and every other song references "California " .
Da hek!? You can see the influence of Hendrix but most of his work sounds so so little like Hendrix!
You’re off your head mate
@@Mickaahh Cool... go listen to another RHCP song about California.
@@joshuamartins9487 this song is about australia and doesn't mention california
