You can also put this stuff in the tank to remove the crud. I recomend pulling the element out of the tank and cleaning manually first. Then put in a few spoons of the powder and let it heat up, flush it out within a few minutes. Hope that helps. Sorry this is the third part of the response. I did not know there is a limit on the length of a comment, hehehe.
I forget the details, it has been a few years now. You can buy industrial espresso cleaner in various sizes, check the net. You can also use "Kosher Salt" It works quite well also. First block the spout where the espresso comes out of the portafilter. I cut out a circle of thick silicone rubber that fits in the bottom of the portafilter (without the basket in place). Then put in the basket over the rubber piece and add a teaspoon of the stuff in the basket.
pull a short shot and you should see that nothing comes out right away. The pressure forces the rubber thing to seal off the portafilter. WAIT FOR THE PRESSURE TO COMPLETLY SUBSIDE!. The portafilter will hold pressure a lot longer when the back wash rubber thing is in place. I would do this two or thee times then pull a few long manual shots to clear out the crap. If your machine is very dirty this process can be repeated many times untill the water comes out a foamy white color.
Nice video, how much time does it take to heat it up once you start it? Thank you
I just scored the Mac Cup V and I'm wondering about cleanup protcol. The manual says something about putting detergent in the unit somehow. Thoughts?
