pls can answer me some1 i m useing breville bes870 about 7 years and its cofee range not enough for me. and my friend selling his oscar . should i buy it ? is it a downgrade or upgrade for me.
Great video, thanks SGC! So there is no issue flipping the machine upside down when the boiler is full of water? My gasket is hard (oops) so I'm going to need all the access I can get.
Very helpful video. thanks. But we had a heck of a time trying to open our screw for the brew head screen! Unsuccessful. even tried using Wd40..... still didn't work. any recommendations? Luckily able to get the gasket out despite not being able to open the brew head screen. But would very much like to change the screen as well.... and have to opportunity to clean the brass difusser. Any suggestions on the tough screw?
If nothing else works (this was the case for me), use a tool to lever the edges of the screen off the diffuser plater. Use pliers to rotate the (now bent) screen counterclockwise, this was sufficient in my case to loosen the screw. Before you start this, make sure you have a new screen ready. I also replaced the screw with a stainless countersunk hex drive screw.
my group head looks nothing like this, I'm super confused. Mine's like a double metal ring with only one hole, right in the center. The outer ring kind of pushes in?
Good afternoon. Can you help me? I want to install on the coffee machine Nuova Simonelli Oskar L Manometer for the group (wedge 9Bar). Tell me please what kind of parts are needed per other manometer
Unfortunately descaling on the Oscar is pretty difficult. With this particular type of heat exchanger boiler it's very easy to leave descale solution behind in the boiler. This is why we recommend that you get your Oscar descaled at an Nuova certified service - Brendan
I'm glad you guys made a vid for this! This video was very well made and I am warming up to the new format of the vid. Brendon always does a fine job when it comes to showing us how do do tune ups. Is there any possible way you guys can make a tune up vid for the rocket machines? I plan on buying one at the end of the year.
Seattle Coffee Gear Another thing too, I just found out through your site that the rocket giotto V3 came out. Are you guys doing a crew review by any chance comparing it to the V2? Thanks
***** Yes, we should have a review early next week. The difference between the V2 and V3 is that the V3 has a brand new PID. Everything else inside the machine is the same. - Steven
Hey there, I bought a nuova simonelli maintenance kit from SCG recently and I'm having a lot of trouble removing the screw from the machine from my Musica... partly coz the video said i'm not supposed to flip the musica upside down. Would it be safe to at least flip the musica sideways?
It is not safe to flip the machine in anyway. If you flip the machine all the water in the boiler could potentially spill out. We recommend having the machine at the edge of your counter/table and working from under the machine in that way. Hope this helps. - Steven
I just replaced the rubber gasket in my Oscar I, but I can't get a "6pm" angle once I place the portafilter. Is fits more like at "4pm" angle. please help..
Brendon always does a great job with maintenance and tune up vids.
Great video! I almost got the Oscar but ended up with a different machine.
Any tutorials on replacing the pump?
Awesome video. It helped us replace the gasket. Wondering what type of awl you used as I cannot seem to find one online that looks like yours.

I have the same problem. I cannot get the screw off. Did you eventually manage?
What is the best way to clean the brew head (at 4:00)? Is steel wool (i.e. SOS pad) a bad idea?

Btw my Oscar is doing watery coffee and does an espresso shot under 8 sec , do you have any tips for me ? it was fine until I brought it for repair!

On the subject of descaling, have you found an easy way to do it with the Oscar yet seeing as there's no hot water spout?

I have problem with the musica and it cannot extraction. Is there any problem with head gasket, or any another issue that i have to consider ?
Dear Seattle Coffee Gear, would you please post a video on how to replace the manometer on a Rocket espresso machine? Thanks a lot!! :)
You mean the pressure gauges on the front? We can put it on our list of videos to shoot! - Steven
Seattle Coffee Gear Hi Steven, yes thats exactly what i mean, best regards Kasper
if the gasket isn't sitting all the way in, wouldn't locking in the portafilter help seat it?

We are hoping to shoot an E61 group head tune up video soon! It should be up in a week or so. - Steven

Mine is the same as yours. Have you fixed it? And how🙂
We dont need to empty the boiler?
Instead of replacing the screen maybe just soak it as well? Should come off no problem I would think. I’m soaking mine now.
Yeah. it is possible to pull the gasket that way, IF it has not turned to concrete.
BOIL out the parts, SAVE money.
