2023 VW ID.4 Dual Motor AWD Review: Better Than Hyundai Ioniq 5?

- Volkswagen has released a steady stream of updates to its electric ID.4 crossover since debuting it for the 2021 model year. These additions include things like an entry-level 55 kWh battery pack, increased tech and interior options, as well as dual motor AWD, like our tester.
Compared to the RWD single-motor ID.4, the dual motor version gets a substantial bump in power and speed, two things that are notably absent from the less powerful variants. Is it enough to sway buyers over alternatives like the Ford Mustang Mach E, Kia EV6 or Hyundai Ioniq 5? Let's find out.
Stats:
2023 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S
Dual Motor AWD
295 HP
Range: 250 miles
0-60 MPH: 6 seconds

This is the 2022 model year. The 2023 model has a traditional center console without the captain chair armrests.
Clickbait. This is a 22
So misleading, this is a 2022,🙄
So what's up with the dual armrests? Looks like a 2022 to me!! That brown dash is another 2022 model look.

Please fix the title ASAP. So misleading - this is 2022. I’m super interested in the 2023 model which is supposed to have better peak charging and a software update..
Annoying… that’s a 2022
It’s not a 2023 as others point out, plus it doesn’t have leather seats, it’s leatherette material. Not very thorough.
The title seems wrong. I think you reviewed a 2022 model but the title says 2023.
not cool to be a car reviewer and get the model year wrong especially when there are significant differences. The car in this review is a 2022 and it would be nice if the presenter could acknowledge his error and then enjoy the views for an otherwise good review
I literally hate Ioniq5 design. Its very bad
This is the European build ID.4, you can tell by the arm rests and the wheels. I didn't know they were shipping the 2023's from Europe, I thought those would all come from Chattanooga?
You are correct. This is indeed a 2022. The Dusk Blue is not available on 2023. Others have pointed out other notions as to this being a 2022 as well.
As someone who works at a VW dealership, I immediately saw the thumbnail and title and was like no.
Jake, please correct the title and references to the car being a 2022. This tells us nothing about the software update and UI and you understate the max charge rate of the actual Chattanooga-built 2023 Pro S AWD. Thank you.
Great review Jake. The exterior and interior look is great, but those controls are just ridiculous. I thought my Subaru Legacy was bad for burying frequently used items in the touch screen. Yeah, that would be a deal breaker for me. I think the best way to get the point across to automakers is to just not buy their product. I think VW is starting to get the message with the recent announcement they'll be returning to physical switches and buttons in 2023 on some models.
Title says 2023. It's a 2022 model.
I have owned an Ioniq 5 AWD Limited for nine flawless and I mean flawless nine months. Not one single complaint or issue. I like the VW, but could never change from the Ioniq. Great review!
ioniq 5 - better wayyyyyyy faster screens, more info in both displays, top down camera, 2x faster charger, adjustable regen. is it worth 10k more though?
@@moorpmoorp it was to me!
great ev ruined by a terrible UX. hopefully vw fix it asap in the next iteration
