I have the Swell Santz, batting and backing. A few years ago, Kimberly Jolly used the inside out method and just sewed around Santa, flipped right side out, closes it and did some easy fmq to stabilize it. That's my goal. I might have to order the Snowman also. It would be cute to have both as throws this winter. I am trying to set up a cozy place to sew in our daughter's room. By the time I get organized, she'll be home from college for the winter. The best cozy thing is when your kitty nests on the quilt you are trying to bind. Good snuggles are worth the hassle. Cute block. Glad you are having fun with it!
It’s an interesting concept to do free motion in a series so as to learn the memory! I’ve got enough to do that, and when I’m finished with Christmas gifts I’m going to get them all prepped and do this. I really “get” the concept. Thank you for all the inspiration and teaching. I’m learning so much from you and this wonderful community of Quilter’s. When I have a question I know I’ve got a place to ask and get all kinds of ideas, suggestions and tips. It’s a terrific resource and I’m so appreciative!
I did 2 panel quilts for my great nephews and was able to fmq myself thanks to your encouragement earlier this summer. Thank you Pat for all you teach us.
Great daily. A cozy place. Cool block. Attic24 is a wonderful blog I used to follow and have enjoyed revisiting. She is a cozy place to visit. And I share the potting table cuteness dream with you. It is a good start to this day. Thanks, Pat. (PS: Visiting with you in the mornings is a cozy place too!). Now I need to get busy making a fall table runner for my daughter-in-law. Happy day to you.
Cute Block.. I have done these panels, or printed fabric before using this method, actually my friend Dolores, taught me this technique yrs back, works real well..
Love Block 3. And the black background tree----oh my--I think it might need some heat set crystals after finished! Just beautiful. I didn't participate in the June machine quilting because my husband was laid off at that time. We don't use our dining room to eat off of, so that's where my Baby Lock Ellure (Big Bertha) sits. Although I can sew with him here I tend to not sew. But I had a few things already started at that time, so I told him "I HAVE to get these things done". He doesn't mind me sewing, I'm the one who thinks I shouldn't. Well, he's still home & I've finished so many things :) He's a pipeline welding inspector & is waiting for the next project to start, so when he heads out, I have several panels I can practice on. I've watched you every day & now think it's doable for me!!!!
So much to respond to today❣️ I am living with a friend while house hunting, so finding a cozy space for myself is a tad difficult just now, however, it is something to keep in mind as I search for a new home. I bought a couple of panels in June for the FMQing month but abandoned them when you broke your wrist. I cannot pick them up just now because they are in storage (something to look forward to). As for the Cozy Things quilt along... I do have my fabric and am managing to keep up, block by block. Thank you for all that you do for the quilting community Pat. I appreciate you every day.
Great tip to use a panel! I recently got a longarm and needed to practice on something before I use a real quilt, so I purchased a few really cheap panels at Joann's. I figure if they don't turn out too well I didn't spend much money on them!
I hv my Paris panel & Thanksgiving panel & Christmas panel :) Love your Christmas panel!! I'm really loving your new cozy block!! I truly wish I had a she shed just for me. My hubby built himself 2 barns, so I'm hoping:) I could hv alone time there, sewing, reading, writing. Would truly be cozy as I live in the country. On my free motion I'm venturing out with new designs. Dragonfly, swirls, etc. Panels are great to practice on.
Love the tip to use panels. I ordered one in that gorgeous dark blue (last one!) I'm just now buying a machine that I'll be able to free motion quilt on. What a great way to practice!! I'll have to find some other panels as well to practice with.
Oh Dear Pat!!! I just HAD to go immediately and order the blue Christmas Tree panel and fabrics to go with it! (Like I don't have enough going on right now! ;) Thank you for sharing those panels...they are gorgeous!!!
I try to make a "Cozy Spot" in each room of the house. To me, it is a focal point that calms and interests me, even if it is a display wall for my quilts or cross stitch, or a chair to read in. So some rooms have more, some rooms have less, but each room has a spot that says, This is Cozy. (even the bathroom by the choice of shower curtain and towels).
Morning from Ireland. I'm doing quilts for great grand children with lots of coloured trees and house etc but my background is white with snow drops...now worried about colours running..too late I know. Looking at the white and red quilt behind you Pat and wondering if the colour catchers really work? Do you use them every time? I know these quilts will be washed after. Thanks
And yes, I would use them every time you wash it for quite some time. I have a red-white and blue quilt that I bought at a church auction. The first few times I washed it I used color catchers and no problem, then I washed it once without just thinking it would be ok. It was NOT, now I have a red-pink and blue quilt. Just not the same!

Loved your suggestion of 5 panels for free motion quilting!

Never done a panel. Just purchased a new long arm and planning on practicing on panels! Can't wait! Love the new block! Thanks Pat.
Luv the snowman panel. He’s on my wish list.
I love that Christmas Panel!

I have the perfect corner on a couch on a sunny chilly afternoon to curl up with whatever quilt is on the back of the couch and read.

a good plan, and yes, sew with him there!
I love blue n silver Christmas tree panel.

You are doing great!
The balance of color in that block is absolutely perfect! And this is coming from someone who does not appreciate red with aqua. Just beautiful!💫
thank you!
Agree, it's beautiful

Since I don't have my own home anymore, my cozy place for crochet is my adjustable bed that can adjust like a recliner.
Such a great idea! Thank you for sharing it. 💜💜

I’ve done several children’s panels. They’re fun and so fast. That blue Christmas tree and the snowman are on my “get” list. Thanks for the tip.
I have been doing Christmas panels and love them for building my FMQ skill building
I've been really thinking about my cozy things and what that were. I'll be putting lots of work into getting those feelings back.
Panels are definitely beautiful. Your sewing room looks so nice. Like the tip for practicing fmg.

Pat, the panels are wonderful - especially the blue/silver Christmas tree. I am new to FMQ and will certainly try your tips. Thank you.
Sweet Christmas memory

I did the same and snagged the last one. Sounds like a lot of us did the same ☺️
@@pst47wings There was 41 in stock when I got mine!
Wow!!

Love the Santa panel!!
Thank you. I like your idea with panels.
Beautiful panels!
Thank you
Thanks
Good morning from Troy, NY.
Is there a sew along for the mini Christmas tree? When does it begin?
V nice. V nice. V nice
Do you have to square up the panel first?
I lean towards waiting until the quilting is done because the quilting process does alter the size and shape of the quilt sandwich.

Color catchers have worked for me. If it's got red or dark blue, I usually use 2 to be sure.
