I am slowly getting my sewing room organized. I bought a 10 drawer organizer for my counted cross stitch projects, charts and flosses. That stuff is no longer falling over and getting walked on. So much more enjoyable to walk in and out. I have a stack of flimsies that need to be quilted. I bought myself a journal so I can make plans for the month of what I would like to get accomplished in both my quilts and cross stitch. Have a wonderful last few days of the year.
@Pat Sloan As a Danish descendant, I have to say, the life style comes so easy, because in the Scandinavian countries although they are heavily taxes, they fell they get a full return of their taxes. Everyone is taken care of in youth 2 years maternity leave, in old age, the old folks homes are homes not place to dump elders, and every age in between, Education is paid for, healthcare is paid for. When you do not have these day to day worries of how healthcare, food and shelter,, it is much easier to hygge
I have 2 arms down-surgery on my left -9/22/22 and frozen shoulder in my right. Trying to incorporate quilting again snd pulling out mistakes from a quilt I am trying to finish-so I walk a lot, and watch your video a lot. You keep me positive. Thank you!
I need to get back into sewing. Working from home has taken that space. I am gathering materials for the sew alongs as I listen and watch and will hopefully be up and running in the not too distant future.
I have been trying to intentionally carve out time for ME without guilt. I’ve been sewing more and just started learning to cross stitch. With two teens that I’ve been homeschooling for 9 years, an elderly (and very needy/clingy) dog, and a business to help run, I’ve been feeling like I have major squirrel brain. So just stopping and making something for a bit or going for a walk has been very good for my crazy wound up brain.
I would like to get cozy with my needlepoint or English paper piecing in the evenings while wrapped up in one of my quilts. I don’t take enough time to do this and I love doing it.... it is relaxing and I love being able to make something for friends or family! I can sit with my husband and watch something fun on TV.😊
Taking more quiet time and doing things to relax. Not on the internet but either reading or listening to books. Quiet time with hot tea and my feet up. Love the quiet.
Now, before I go to bed, I make a hot cup of decaf. tea to sip while I spend a few minutes watching your fireside chat. You always provide plenty of inspiration & I like getting another person's take on quilt making. Great way to wind down and prepare to dream of lovely quilts I would like to make.
I lost my sewjo for a while, ive now got it back and finishing up all my ufo's as well as new quilts, ive decided that I'm making things for me now except the odd things for others. I crochet too and learnt from Mikey at yarnspirations through his RUclips channel. I try to use your mantra of 10mins a day this helps get through all of whats waiting to be finished. Thanks for all the tips.
Adding in... organization. Life has just seemed to be hectic for some reason this summer and my hobby supplies has gotten totally out of hand. Of course living in a RV means, a little stuff left out, quickly turns into a pile and no room to get around it. So from one end of my rv to the other, are these craft piles that need to be gone through, sorted, and done something with. So that is what I'm working on little by little until it's all out of site.
I love to learn new things and always love to see whatever everyone else is working on . I have gotten hooked on quilting and now trying to learn and reading up on how to choose the colors .
I am trying to add back cross-stitching. I use to do a lot of it many, many years ago before.i got carpal tunnel syndrome. Have had both wrists fixed so I decided this year (because of you, Pat) to do Lori Holt’s Prim 12 month cross stitch patterns.
Pat I am so totally like you in regard to audio books. My mind wanders and I'd have it tuned out so much that I wouldn't know what was going on in the book!
Am enjoying the Hygge book - candles, fires in the kiva, and warm apple cider are on the top of my list this week - we're having snow (about 4 inches today so far, with at least two more days of snow forecasted.). Also cooking/baking yummy comfort foods. When the weather warms back to at least the 40s with sunshine, then I'll get back to a daily walk. Also doing nightly reading. Enjoying hygge habit
I've not heard of HYGGE?? And for cozy, I try to get my husband to stop working while I make dinner and we have a beer and chat together. Not always successful but we try! And it's kind of a "cozy" time for us. Thanks again!!
I’m going to get these books. I’m looking at working as a traveling Radiology Tech, and I’ll need to make my life super simple. I’ve been working on my cross stitching, and doing some crocheting. I lost my job a few weeks ago, and it’s stolen my sewing mojo. I know it’ll come back. If I get a job in another state my sewing machine is definitely coming with me. I have projects that need to get done! Thank you for the constant inspiration!
Pat, you said that you'd like to bake bread. I found the best sourdough starter and recipe on Amazon. The starter is Saratoga Jacks and it comes with a great recipe that actually takes about 17 hours to ferment. Mixes easily in a Kitchen Aid stand mixer. You do need to cut the recipe in half unless you want to feed the neighbors! It also tells you how to feed the starter so you don't need any other instructions. All of my family love this bread.
I'm still trying to get my groove back after stopping raising my grandson for 5 yrs. I'm still having trouble getting used to my husband being retired. No alone time so much. But I'm slowly getting there. Cooking & meal planning takes up too much time lol
watched your Monday chat - I am new at this and it took me awhile to see how to comment. The giveaway is spectacular. Cozy to me, as winter has made an appearance here (10 inches of snow, gusting winds, and actual single digit and teen temperatures over last few days), is buttery popcorn, a crisp apple, and snuggling with my puppy to watch an inspiring video after a day of canning home made applesauce and carrots, the last of my garden produce. I look forward to making the mini charming Christmas tree with you, using scraps from my Christmas sewing projects already completed or cut out. Can't wait for the November challenge calendar.
It snowed here this morning so cozy suddenly became very important. I ordered charm squares to make my tree and I have 2 mini charms that I will use to make a small version. I can hardly wait to get started.
I also have a backlog of binding. I have been doing two lengths of thread every night. When that is finished I reward myself by working on a cross stitch piece. I can actually see the bottom of the binding pile!!
Thank you for sharing your "had to do it over" mistakes. I get so frustrated when this happens to me. Just knowing that this happens to the "pro's" gives me confidence to know that I am not "loosing" it.😁love your vids and your thought process.❤
You make me feel so good Pat and the reason I'm saying this is wow we could have had a V-8. LOL Here's what I done wrong was sewing wrong was not enough I didn't measure my window sssoooo of course after finally finishing it gggggggrrrrrr nope to small so my sister will get that curtain for here bath room window. So cute with snowmen on it!
Hi Pat I am danish , at ir is so funny to hear you saying Hygge ;o))))) I am not on Facebook or instagram, so I tell you here how the Danish "Viking" hygger . There is always cake to the coffe / tee. Lots of candle light in the vinter and outside in the sommer. we drink vine or beer to our dinner. In vinter vi drink a hot vin called Gløg and vi eat æbleskiver....like a pancake but round as golfball. the way you must pronunciation Hygge is, point your mouth ( like when you give a kiss) and then say the word. God hygge from Denmark Maud
Read Hygge Discovering the Danish Art of Happiness, trying to be more frugal as I like that they addressed consumerism and that Hygge is more about enjoyment and experience than stuff
I'm a dane and my son enjoys to hygge every night 💖 For him hygge is beeing cozy together with mom, dad and our dog and he finds that we have to hygge every single night after dinner 🥰 If we have other plans it's almost impossible to get him to sleep without we have hygget before bedtime.... 🥰
Some people are auditory learners. Others are visual learners. It's hard to learn in the opposite of your natural tendency. I have to see something to get it in my brain:) lol
I always wash and put a few dye catchers in the wash on the delicate cycle. I want the starch, and sizing out of my quilts and the gifts I give away. It's a personal choice.
Warning: I have arthritis in my hands and wrists. Haven’t been able to knead bread. Then again it may be good for your wrists, to exercise them. Just e prepared to rest them.

I love that you and Greg spend time together in the living room before dinner. My parents always did this. I think it's a lost practice.
I enjoy an audiobook or a podcast while I am hand stitching. The rest of the time I have classical music in my sewing room.

its important to stay connected to things you love, i'm so happy you'll be working on that! hugs!

Cold in Wyoming with 8 inches of snow and 12 below zero tonight. Warmer weather coming. Yah!!! Storm going East.

Decorating for the holidays with my quilts always gives a warm cozy feeling.
I’m trying to get back into indoor gardening!
I do some crocheting and sewing pajamas, robes, mens shirts dresses, and quilting.

Reading Hygge Habits 42 Habits For A Happy Life. I am really enjoying it and am incorporating new ideas into my life.
I am trying to get back to sudoku and word puzzles. However, after a full day of preschool, I am a little exhausted.

Still snow in the ground in Spokane
Love your chats. So many good topics. How fun to have give sways. Some really nice things that you are giving away.

You'll love the tree!
Very cold here in southern Ontario. Think I need to get the winter coat out now. I love candles and how they seem to relax one.
I love the Audible app. I use it and listen every time I sew😊. I have to re-listen sometimes too😜
I’m looking forward to doing the Christmas trees! 🎄

I am trying to get my house back to being cozy since the Easter tornado. I have ordered the book and it will be here this weekend.
Huge bathroom remodel interrupted my walking. Its so hard to get back into the swing of it. Now we are starting on the kitchen. Lol

Learning about “Hooga”. Thank You!
Needle and Anchor has the perfect bag for your fabric it’s kind of a large hobo tote
What do you wash your newly finished quilts with. Please make that a future topic.
Oh. I’m glad I’m not the only one. That has happened to me too. So sorry. 😢😢😢
❤️ the striped binding on Barbie
I have two trees done, still working on the quilting.
Sweaters on today and a good day for UFO'S Getting my fabrics ready for Christmas 🎄 Tree pattern. Love the pillow. Sew much fun with you 💖
It feels like Christmas in NW Texas. We had snow today.

How's everyone doing tonight? It's beautiful here, but a bit chilly.
I am new to your videos and love 💕 them....where do I go to print some of the patterns you talk about? Christmas trees, the Jelly roll quilts, etc?
Pretty tee shirt.
Love making bread...unfortunately also love eating it! It might help build strength in your wrists
Going through grief so want to just take care of my spirit reading helps✝️
Hugs my friend 🤗
You got the binding in your Barbie quilt...your new number is 799!
haha.. but i finished another back to 800!
Hello everyone from NC
I’d like to figure out how to do “fun” quilting in between doing gifts or masks or other “needed” things!
Luckily people can buy masks now, maybe it's time to let them do that and retire that project
for awhile it was tough to find fabric
My Asian fabric and I have several...... Looking for the RIGHT pattern....... still...........
Some people are auditory learners. Others are visual learners. It's hard to learn in the opposite of your natural tendency. I have to see something to get it in my brain:) lol
How’s everyone? From Tipp City Ohio
Zanesville Ohio here
I love your shirt! Where did you get it?
Do you always wash your quilts before gifting them?
My right hand was inflamed and swollen for a few weeks. It’s finally better, but, boy, I was BORED,
I have terra amber dishes service of 8 i should sell it
Do you wash all quilts before giving them away? If so, why would you wash them unless they are soiled?
I always wash and put a few dye catchers in the wash on the delicate cycle. I want the starch, and sizing out of my quilts and the gifts I give away. It's a personal choice.
Where can I get the pattern
Mine is christmas material
Trying to add in cross stitching
Do you wash your quilts before you give them?
i do! you never know what kind of stuff you got on it during the making. And you can test that it does not run and you didn't miss any seams.
Oh I want to win. Lol
Warning: I have arthritis in my hands and wrists. Haven’t been able to knead bread. Then again it may be good for your wrists, to exercise them. Just e prepared to rest them.
How about a bread machine? I use mine to knead the dough then put it in a pan and bake in my oven so it looks traditional.
The chat went away?
One piece......hahaha
Check out King Arthur's Baking site for bread recipes and tips.
its a great site, i use it often. I've made bread a lot in the past, just not recently
