I've taken many quilting classes and done day long retreats, that were all so much fun. Right now, after doing genealogy for well over 40+ years, I'd love to take a class on genealogy. I'd like to learn more about searching ship registers and many other things. At age 76, I'd better find a class soon so I have time to do the searching. I get tired of banging my head on a brick wall. Quilting is a great hobby to have during this pandemic. It has kept me sane while alone. Finding you, Pat, has helped me tremendously as far as getting things finished and trying to keep up. Also in joining in the sew-alongs, I've met some wonderful people in your group and we stay in touch. You have increased my circle of quilting friends when I don't have any in my own immediate area. Thank you for the inspiration Pat and please thank Gregg for all of the help and assistance he gave you from June forward. You make a great team!

I stopped taking Quilt classes many years ago. The cost got to be out of this world for Nat'l teachers and I discovered that they didn't teach me anything I didn't already know. I found that I learned a lot from fellow guild members and they were very happy to share with you one on one. If I had a class that would be of interest it would be photography.

A class in oil or water color would be great.
Or a couples Italian or Greek cooking class would be fun for my husband and I.
Or a quilting class in a technique I’ve not learned yet would be nice.
Your Barbie quilt is so cute Pat. She will love it, especially with the kitty quilting ❤️

I would love to take a Master Gardening class! I once took a apprenticeship position at a stained glass shop to learn the art of making stained glass both Cain work and leaded glass windows. Worked for free and gained a new skill. Love to learn new skills! I’ve become a advocate for those who are living with disability.

This is my class. I love that I never know what we are going to learn. Each of us takes away a different piece. Wow. You are super smart with that graphic design! Oh, I too had a pet hamster named Cookie, which spent my second grade year as our class pet. I still have thank you letters from my classmates. I have truly learned so many things from you about quilting, and resilience too.

Just watching this video Mar 2023. I took a landscaping class offered as adult education from local tech school many years ago. It was quite interesting and involved making a scale drawing of my yard and adding the landscaping plants and plotting the direction of sun. I loved this class. It met for 6 weeks and it was taught by the manager of a local nursery. Maybe you could find something similar in your area.

Go take an upholstery class @a Jr. College or adult learning center, but start with youtube videos. I worked for a neighbor, one summer as a teen, who was an upholsterer. I observed that he always cut apart the fabric at the seams & used the pieces for the pattern. He marked the back of the pieces with chalk or tape. His worktable was about 4' x 10', @ counter height. He used a "half inch" seam allowance. He cut the new pieces out with long heavy scissors, but there are rotary cutters now, making it easier. I hope you give it a try. You would want more than a std. sewing machine to sew upholstery. If not, maybe you could have a washable slipcover made.

Only take classes for a new technique that interests me....for inspiration. Rarely is it because of a pattern. I have a tendency to wander off the written word of a pattern to create my own version. At a retreat or guild if there’s a free demo/class I may sit in. Usually pick up a new tip or trick. Education is never a waste of time. I’m always learning something new.

I can't think of a class I would like to take now. I do sometimes take a class, back when we had shows, just because i particularly like a teacher. Probably that's because I am fairly advanced in my quilting and sewing -- it's my business too, albeit a micro business...LOL -- and I keep learning things online for other things, like breadmaking. Your software looks like Corel Draw software that I use in conjunction with Corel Painter to design my art quilts. I do wish they talked with each other better, but it can be managed. I also have Electric Quilt but I only use it occassionally for a quick little panel quilt or utility quilt project of some sort. Cheers.

I would love to take computer classes on how to work a computer...I’m not very computer savvy 😏 in addition to quilting, cross stitching, smocking, & sewing. I have a Babylock sewing/embroidery machine. It wasn’t to hard to learn how to purchase embroidery/Applique designs and download them to my computer, then to a flash drive for my machine. But, for Christmas I got a cricut. It’s been a challenge for me to purchase a design from Etsy, then download that svg to open up in my computer as a file to upload to my cricut. It seems to 90% of the time comes as a document that won’t upload to my cricut!😩 I’ve watched RUclips videos on how to do it, but I need step by step illustrations and their computer screen looks nothing like mine! Plus they go too fast!!

Well, I am actually taking some online classes through skill share in how to use Procreate. It's a design program for the Ipad. And it does go way up into huge size layouts (as per inches), which is nice. I am a Corel Paintshop Pro user from way back, but wanted to utilize some of the features that the procreate program had that mine didn't. Both have great features in designing though. So I actually use both. It's very hard to learn to use Ipads when you have used windows programs for over 20 plus years. LOL Other classes I would like to take are Silk painting (I have taken this before but there is new tech. so would like to take it again), and I'd like to take many many other classes, all pretty much pretain to textiles and textile design however. LOL

I would love to get some formal instruction on Long Arm quilting. I've asked everyone I know in this area if there are classes. We moved here (rural Vermont) 6 years ago, I worked full time for 4 of those years, so I do not have many connections. One Long Arm quilter she just bought the machine and went for it. Another stated that she was trained by company that makes her machine. She invested in it as a business and only does computer generated edge to edge.
So its RUclips and prayer for me to learn this.

I live in Tennessee... and have just started going to the place that sells longarm machines ... They rent time on them to individuals (after you take a class)..... I have rented one four times - and have finished two quilts each of those days. I had nearly 30 tops done for easy too long. I have sent some to a friend who lomgarms - but I really have enjoyed it. I've been doing FMQ on my regular machine but it takes forever. I have done pantograph, free motion, and some ruler work. The name of the place is Accomplish Quilting and they are so nice. I know they have locations in other cities - I go to the Nashville one.

Most of my quilting has been self-taught, figuring it out on my own. The first time I signed up for a BOM at my local quilt shop, I thought I was going to actually learn how to piece the blocks. I was wrong. There was absolutely no teaching on how to make the blocks. I paid $5 and I was given a piece of paper with a picture of the block and dimensions of the various pieces to cut and the fabric. Had to figure it out myself. I had no clue whatsoever. I am sure that had I taken the time to talk to one of the people who worked in the quilt stop, they would have gladly walked me through the process, but most of the time I was making the block just before had to take it in to show them, so I could get the pattern and fabric for the next block and there was no time for me to answer questions now. This was called $5 Block of the Month Quilt. If you didn’t miss a single time of taking in your finished block the entire quilt only cost you that initial $5. What a bargain! If you missed taking your block in, you had to pay $5 to get the next one. They usually had 3 or 4 sessions available to do that. I thought the “sessions” would be a class, but they amounted to a commercial for some new product, notion that you can’t live without or new fabric line that the store owner was pushing at the time. Definitely not that helpful, though I did learn about rulers and templates that were helpful. I remember when I discovered “nesting the seams”, it was like I discovered electricity or something! Until I figured that out I was totally unable to get the seams to meet up perfectly together and was totally frustrated when nothing matched up like the picture. I had no idea that was the proper way to do it and I remember not wanting to show the back of my block because I was embarrassed as to how I got the seems to match up. I did take a class where I actually paid money to the local quilt shop, to learn to do free motion quilting. Still haven’t quilted a single quilt using free motion quilting. I have watched hundreds of videos, yours included, Pat on how to free motion quilt. Still haven’t free motion stitched a single quilt. I really want to but I remain stuck and in the end I resort to straight line quilting with a walking foot when it comes down to finishing up the quilt. UGH! So. I guess I want to take another class to learn how to free motion quilt. I think that a one-time class is not going to work. I need someone standing over me, making me mess up a perfectly beautiful piece of quilt sandwich by practicing on it. I was determined this summer in June when you held the daily free motion quilting classes to actually do it but it didn’t happen then either. I did the exercises with you, but still did not put a single stitch in a quilt. Still stuck.

It is a 'no longer made' professional level graphics package. Any professional level graphics package can do what i do. they take quite a long time to learn if you are not already using graphics software

I would love to go on a quilting cruise or tour, but it seems you have to have a LOT of discretionary $$ to enjoy those kinds of jaunts, sigh. I can’t justify throwing around money like that.
