I think a great way LEGO can experiment is by creating sets that are similar, but obviously not the same as others on shelves. The Ninjago and Marvel Modulars are great examples of this- LEGO took a risk by introducing Modulars to both of these properties while at the same time playing it safe, as these were all compatible with their fantastic modular sets that keep fans coming back every year. They were able to easily target two separate demographics- modular fans and fans of Ninjago or Marvel.

Still waiting for them to see that potential for a Gotham
The format clearly works. Hopefully one day

I hope someone makes a good face mod and then it goes on a big sale

Seems to be all what we're hoping for these days

you forgot they also tried this before with buildable Yoda and Grogu. seems like maybe they were successful (even though they're creepy looking)

They seemed to do pretty okay, but they also were half the price of Chewie here

the thing that porbably annoys me the most about those "clearancecore" sets is that they're mostly marvel/star wars based
and it feels to me like those themes have too much budget/enough budget to waste it on those kinds of sets and the only original lego theme we got is ninjago. granted, we got monkie kid and soon dreamzzzzz, but i would still love to see something as cool and self-contained as some of those themes from back in the day instead of overpriced star wars/marvel spaceship/statue number 57328

It is a pretty blanket licensed set thing if you ask me, but yes. It seems to be the themes with bigger budgets that need to go somewhere else in their themes, if not others themes

Couldn't agree more. It feels like LEGO is 90% Disney crap these days, but what lego fans want is more original themes and goddamn Bionicle

This set looks like melting chocolate

But like as if parts of it are melting and chunks are slowly falling off.
      I see what you mean

Who wouldn't want the greatest Star Wars character in the history of the entire franchise as a UCS Lego?

Iconic! If you were in the theatre in 1977, I’m thinking that your perspective on this Lego offering would be quite different. I know mine is!

They're taking huge risks with their most expensive products and playing it way too safe with their own IPs. They need to do the opposite: take risks with the affordable, in house IPs because that's what made lego successful in the 2000s, and play it safe with UCS / other collector's sets, to givee them the broadest possible appeal- to give fans exactly what they want.

Huge fan of this set and others like it (yoda, grogu, r2 and bd) but that price is scary

See, it's hard for me to pool Chewie with all the rest as it just seems so adjacent from them. IDK if its the size? The appearance?
I mean, sure, it has the plaque and minifig.
