I am genuinely loving the new Space sets. My most favorite is their simple but awesome Interstellar Spaceship. I genuinely want all of the City Space sets and the beautiful art one to display above the playsets. Such an incredible lineup. This is the first time I felt so compelled to get so many sets tied to a theme.

Y’know, I used to dislike the concept of Lego just using pre established themes to introduce new and/or beloved concepts, but after what I’ve seen them do this year, I gotta say I’m 100% on board. Heck, I NEVER would’ve thought that Lego city would come to a point where they’re literally remaking old sets from beloved themes (as per the new Robot World set), but they are, and I love it so much. I just hope this goes on to show Lego that new ideas will indeed sell, as long as we keep up the demand and we keep purchasing. Buy these sets people! 2024 Lego space rocks

Space Police 2 and Ice Planet were my first sets. And in my childhood I wished about related themes I've seen in catalogs.
I'd like a tribute for Blacktron 2 / Space Police 1-2 / Ice Planet / UFO as they did for Galaxy Explorer

I'm loving this new cross-theme sub-theme idea. I personally am most enamored with City Space. It's a perfect fit for my own space adventures I was thinking of. I got got four of the sets, and trust me that is the most I have gotten in any theme for almost 20 years. I also built some of the robots with spare parts by looking up the instructions online. I even included an older set, the 3 in 1 space miner mech. It's an old leftover from a collapsed alien empire that ruled half the galaxy 1,000 years ago. But putting my cast in these new space suits and having them meeting aliens has been so much fun. I also used some of the robots from the CMF series. I like to think they are built by the tiny aliens from the Imposter minifig. In my mind they are master robot builders, an in-universe version of Babu Fric. With so much stuff, there is so much to pick from to make the adventures I want!

In addition to the sets you mentioned, LEGO recently released 2 sets that only have the Space theme, 40715 and 40716, the former including a white Classic Space torso! They also released the 40687 Limited Edition Alien Space Diner GWP with white and orange Classic Space torsos, but I wish they would have included a new color in the CMF Series 26!
I built a lot of these sets without instructions, including the 42179 Orrery during the North American Eclipse!

If you told me last year we’d be getting a bunch of different space sets, I would assume it would be it’s own unique Space Theme. Honestly I really do enjoy this approach of overarching Space subthemes that pretty much can create its own theme, with how separate the City Space line feels from its other sets. If you have sets from all the Space sub themes, you could just display it all together separately from their own themes and pretend it’s all 1 single Space Theme

I really hope this does well, while Pirates and Castle have been managing to get semi consistent releases since the sandbox theme consolidation Space has always drawn the short straw, in ideas, creator, icons, etc aside from the rare classic Space inspired things any space offerings are more realistic shuttles and such instead of more of the brightly coloured sci-fi fair of yesteryear. This is much more what I think of with LEGO Space, maybe if it does well we could get a full space theme not about killing aliens

My favourite is the Interstellar spaceship and Space Explorer Rover and Alien Life (although i think the landscape portion wasnt really necessary). I just wish Lego had staggered the releases a bit more for each subline instead of for instance getting almost all City sets in January. Release a few sets every 2 or 3 months so they can cover the full year. I do hope the theme carries on in 2025 and we can get even cooler sets. Almost all of my content is about the City Space theme.

I believe what they’ve done for space has been great, it’s not exactly what people wanted but I think if the ship designs were just a little more out there I think it would warm up to people, I think the way so many themes got connected is really fun and sets a standard for how something like this can happen in the future!.
For castle, it’s kinda hard to do something in city/friends , except if you do a Ren-Fair subtheme which I think castle fans would be fine with!, then a CMF and stuff in creator and dreamzzz is also possible, which means you can have something of a similar scale to what we got from space.

Great video, I think what also helps this line is the fact that it was subtly announced and didn't beat you over the head with advertising.
With consistent color schemes, and building styles, I can see how it would be easy for a lot of people to buy these sets regardless of the theme that they're from because they all generally look related..... And not in a bad way.
I also like how it is a combination of several major themes, without it being too many.

LEGO City Renaissance Fair would be the easiest way for that theme to pull things off too. In this situation, Creator would be the best theme to spearhead things like City had done with Space.

i wouldve been overjoyed for all of this, but im a huge shill for only the old space stuff because their color schemes are so vanilla and many of them have hard to define shapes
thus, these are not my cup of tea so i just got the collectable minifigures that refrenced old themes (except the beetlezoid)

Space 2024 is not the space theme I have been waiting for. The designs for me are too mundane and boing. To me 2024 space feels very sterile . I miss the very 70s, 80s and 90s designs of space in the 20th century. I find most of lego space from that time took inspiration from Chris Foss's artwork for going out there with the design language. Like looking at out future 10.000 years out. As a big fan of classical sci fi I tend to prefer designs like those more. I personal hate NASA punk as and ascetic, so these sets were never going to appeal to me.

So the idea of a line between real and fiction is funny as stuff like the mobile phones we had in the 90s to the phones we have today came from fiction, I mean tell me the flip phones weren’t Star Trek communicators and today’s modern phones and tablets are basically Trek datapads.
Scientists are using the ideas from Star Trek to try and do meny things, nasa reached out to the maker of Babylon 5 and was like hey you know them starfurys? Mind if we steal that design as it would actually work (maybe not as a fighter but) as a construction craft.
