I've had multiple people asking if I'd share the print files or sell the trains so I figured I'd answer it here:
I'm still optimizing the design a bit, once I'm happy I'll share the files for free. I'll also make an assembly tutorial video. This should hopefully come within the next 3/4 weeks so stay tuned.
Not sure if I'll be selling printed trains just yet but if I do the information will be in that assembly tutorial video
Cool, can’t wait!
I'd love it if you sold 3d printed trains! I would definetley buy
@ThoTechnical when will it be coming out? i need it for a roller coaster im building
I can’t wait!!
I'm probably being dumb, but where are the files? I can't see them linked to. Thanks@the_yaro
Great to see the bearings implemented on the micro K'nex. Awesome job on the design!
Thanks :)
Knex content is really moving forward fast
Wow you where here?!
@@MrFoxANDnoobie???
I was too early
Knex is back !
Amazing work!
yo
Holy shit!!! I’m so happy to see something like this. I don’t know if you remember me but I was on SSCoasters for a while. I always knew how much better the old style track was, but it was much harder to get and I just prefer the look of VV more. I’ve been building with it for a while but honestly gave up for the same reasons you mentioned. I still have the last eurofighter I started like 7 years ago sitting in my living room and haven’t done much since finishing that. Recently I’ve been really wanting to build something like an RMC or a good fast paced GCI, but knew VV can’t handle anything remotely like that. I was actually going to start designing my own ball bearing trains now that I have time, but I’m so glad someone else has taken up this project. I probably will still do it because it seems like fun to go through the process. Can’t wait to see you develop these!
Oh also, what ball bearings did you use for this?
I love your commitment! When I was younger I was super fascinated by rollercoasters. I never got to build them except in rollercoaster tycoon. This enlightened my inner child :)
This channel could go places. If you just slightly improve the camera quality and maybe a little editing upgrade I can see this channel shoot up in no time!! Love this please don't stop uploading.
Awesome thank you for sharing!
the ending made me laugh 😂 Intelligent video mate, nice work
I love this video! I left micro knex for SS last year and pushed it to the limits. This is opening a new window into the future. I would recommend selling or sharing the print files with the community!
Thank you!
You could've built some absolutely amazing rides with 3d printed trains.
I'm still working on optimizing the design a bit and will share the files with everyone (for free) once I'm happy. Should be within the next couple weeks.
update?
@@ThoTechnical im at a point where I will pay you to give me the files now regardless of you releasing a refined and improved version for free later down the road.. is there a way i can get in touch with you?
Hey man, I know it’s been a few months now and I’m hoping all is well. I was wondering if there was an update on making the files public and that tutorial video for assembly? I look forward to it so I can hopefully get back into the hobby myself. Excellent video!
I'm really happy you included Fahrenheit because Hersheypark was my first park
I was considering making a couple hundred dollar investment into classic track, but now that you’re starting to 3d print trains that work on micro, I think I might try those. They work really well in this! I can’t wait to see where you take this!
They look classic as well.
Ah man what a throwback, love it👍👍
It warms my heart that my photos of Fahrenheit are still being used after all these years :)
So smart, love the idea! Actual micro k'nex cars don't even make it to even a small hill, this is a big step maybe make a deal with k'nex
daaang those mods you did to those trains are so cool. id love to get back into knex rollercoasters but i just dont have the room yet
been building coaster for years and never thought to use the other type of track that doesnt come with the screaming serpent kits. can you make a video on how you make the track like that? would be an interesting watch.
Great work! Your layouts look super nice! keep it up!
Appreciate it! Gotta figure out how to make em look as nice as yours though 😜
@@ThoTechnical Yea, and I'm probably going to copy some elements from your layout too XP
this is an awesome project, great job. must have been *so* satisfying seeing the first prototypes working already better than the stock trains i bet!
Yeah it was! The first wheel assembly concepts I tried didn't work at all so it was quite a relief when I got something that worked 😀
I'm having the same problems you are, and I'm building this massive Intamin Blitz style coaster which I call Pyramid of the Serpent.
I think it would be awesome if you could show a Timelapse of you assembling the pieces together
If you are still looking for a way to increase weight on your roller coaster trains, you may want to look into Bismuth alloy to weight down your cars, an idea originally from model railroading. It's very low melt point makes it ideal for getting weight into small areas of a car.
Will you do what the K’NEX maker does and create multiple train types (winged, invert, etc.)?
this is actually sick, was wondering how long this would take.
I would love to see someone make something like this for LEGO roller coasters
Awesome performance! Excelent job!
Is there any to download and print them? Or buy a few? My kids are ansious to build one...
I wanna build knex and I got this lot but it only had the bigger peices, do you combine the micro track and trains with the bigger peices like others do or is it all micro?
Tornadoman96. There's a name I haven't seen in a while. Excellent work, my dude. The bearings are a massive improvement! What did you do about the chain dog?
This is amazing
Will you be doing the wheel bogies separate from the train body?
Got anything for lifting hotwheels cars ? Trying to build a car lift for a continuous track but with knex instead of boosters
This is so sick
this is awesome
This is awsome!
Thanks! 😊
Do you know when these trains will be available?
This is so cool
great job. we soon gotta find a way to have better knex coaster cars.
THIS IS SO COOL!
OMG HI ALEX
hiiiiiiii :D @@0alex.shaw0
Knex and lego coasters was something I never had the opportunity to try. How long did that coaster take you to build now vs. how long it took you to build as a kid?
This coaster took me 3 weeks to build using basically every bit of free time I had. Hard to remember how long a coaster like this would've taken me as a kid though... it's been so long. But I would assume around the same time
They're almost exactly like the swing axle bogeys RMC have been using for a few years now
Could I get the STL file or at least the link to the ball bearings please?
Do you sell any of your 3D models or know anyone that does as I would definitely be interested in purchasing! I’m not sure how to 3D print and I struggle to find any standard coaster cars in the UK
shoutout to the turbopolyp at the end ;)
that looks so good wtf
You should make the classic track style but smaller for micro
Impressive for sure.
IT'S INSPIRED BY FAHRENHEIT!!!
Hersheypark is my home park. I've been on Fahrenheit many times. It's cool to see how much of an influence my home park has.
4:19 dat geluidsfragment blijft geniaal🤣
oh hey man I remember you from ss coasters! those micro tube support footers look super nice i didn't know you could fit the micro parts through the regular parts like that! makes me wonder if screamin serpent coasters could benefit from micro tubes.
I remember you too! Fun seeing some folks form SSC are still around :)
Micro tubes would be interesting on SS coasters. They aren't as strong as classic tubes but might still work on a smaller model
@@ThoTechnical On Pyramid of the Serpent, I'm using classic parts with micro track.
wow I really want to work on knexs now
You should!
3:05 I’m that guy spreading his arms rn
343rd sub im recreating stelth from thorpe park but i love that u used farenhight layout on ur coaster i go to hp a lot but wildcats revenge is better maybe u can make that coaster next
How do I order?
Awesome video dude. Hoping this gets a lot of virgins since it showed up in my recommended!
Typo? 🤣
@@ThoTechnical totally not a typo go get those virgins bro!!!
@@Rickbone1055 LMAO
Since I don't have the knowledge and a 3d pronter, I would buy this train instantly
IM YOUR 470 SUB
Edit: love your vids!
How many kits did you have to buy?
Hard to tell. I mostly buy used lots of knex.
Will these be compatible with the K’NEX micro boosters?
Nope
@@ThoTechnical okay
YOO i have the same closet and the same trash can. How cool
It's so expensive though! You are lucky you had it as a kid.
3:57 the new Vekoma SLC trains beg to differ.
(Those fuckers literally fall down several centimeters on their upstops while inverting.)
now you can add a camera on the train and make a pov
Compare it with the knex trains
I would be willing to buy a set of these cars off you
i cant buy these ther expemsive :(
Knex is the easiest way for any kid to get into engineering haha and this is proof
haha definitely!
I smell dutch
999th like! this is awesome
I hate the mini knex. I’m still building with the original ones. I bought 4 screaming serpents and the ripin rocket coasters. It’s much more realistic. Seems these mini types aren’t as fun
I would pay so much to buy your trains for micro track
They will be free once he gives us the stls
U sound like sketch / bandi.
Dude I'm building with Lego's sh*tty coaster system, everything is sh*t about this system 😂 I'm so jealous you can... turn, with your coasters. I promise you that building with Lego's system, THAT is much more painful. All inversions we have are normal loopings and all turns we have is flat 90° turns (I WILL cut a turn for a 45° turn though it's getting unbarable) the trains litterally are designed as follows ''our Lego train sets work right? Meh just do the same thing again''
Trains DON'T WORK THE SAME WAY AS COASTERS LEGO PLEASE, it's absolutely dreadful, but after a while of testingw testing and more testing I finally made 2 lay-outs that work... -ed perfectly. After not even 10 hours of running their performance was so pathetic I had to start oiling the thing, it's absolute heck, I might have to 3D print new trains also, but then for Lego coasters, because I have no clue how long I can keep going like this. Luckly I have my 2 coasters now that I am proud of :)
Haha yeah coasters is one thing knex has over lego. I'm thinking knex track with lego theming would be a good combo :)
gaaf man haha
Amazing work!
