When you are starting the van from cold in icy conditions,Turn the key all the way to starter position, dash lights, leave it for 20 seconds, turn off then do it again for 2 more times then start. Glow plugs take a bit to heat, should start a lot easier! Even in warmer weather,do it once , you will hear the relay click off after about 20 seconds, that’s the glow plugs turning off. Have a good trip!!
I dont know what it is but no matter what you share with us it is just GREAT :) Thank you for all you have shared with us in 2021 and wish you both a totally fantastic 2022.
I am in the USA. I am so impressed with how well you made it through all the challenges that I cried. It was absolutely amazing. Thank you, in spite of all the emotional, mental, and physical enormous challenges that you faced, you still were kind enough to share it all with us. Love you gals. I am 71 and love watching your vlogs. Merry Christmas and I know 2022 will be an amazing year for you, you’ve earned it. Lol
Hey Gail, thank you and glad you are enjoying the vids, it amazing that we have all you guys with all your wonderful support and messages, we Truly are greatful 😀
Wow, just wow! Having watched the trials you went through last Christmas, with one dog (and lots of packed bags) I feared it could be even more traumatic if you'd had to leave Fanny behind this time. We were cheering you on, as your perseverance paid off, especially getting the help from the garage in Germany. Through all this, you still manage to produce a great vlog, with tons of wit and charm. The bit where Emily's description was sped up was classic Camper vibe! All done with great humour, and love. So happy you made it home for Christmas. All the best for 2022, you lovely people and AJ and Summer. x
😆😆 glad you guys have enjoyed the vids, it's been a great year for us even with the breakdowns 😆 definitely less of them next year though, have a great NY
Hey Girls, I’m so pleased you got back and really sorry for all your troubles. But it’s all behind you now. I was in the motor trade before I retired last year. One little bit of advice if it’s not done, replace the handbrake cables to be sure as we where always replacing them in these vans as they seize up due to grit and salt of the roads. Spray grease on the joints and moving parts helps too. Hope you enjoyed your Christmas as well. Great video and a big well done. Roly in Manchester xx xx
Awww, I was a bit teary through that. Lou you are a trooper - so pleased you both now have peace and time to relax after your ordeal. Summer and AJ look so calm, glad you are all safe. Happy Christmas 🥰
I know this is 5 months late but having just started watching I'm playing catchup (selected videos only). Ladies I take my hat off to you...this episode you have shown real character, guts, determination and I am seriously impressed.
I'm sure there are some unseen tears and paddies, but the way you handle these challenges is somewhat inspirational. And the way you are both comfortable in taking the piss out of each other is so nice to see. Onwards and upwards 😁💪👍
@@campervibe :-( "Throwing a paddy" came from us whinging that the English came in and murdered all our civic leaders and burned down our cities. I like the channel but maybe check the casual racism
Girls, you made my day seeing you back in time for Christmas. You've had an amazing journey, you've spoilt us with your vlogs and retaining your sense of humour through out is simply magical. I wish you a Happy New Year and really look forward to 'coming along on your next trip', although I wouldn't recommend a vlog of Emily's (wolf whistle) being interfered with hahahahah xx way to go girls!
If you are going to be in minus weather a "block heater" works great and does the engine good. A heater pad on the sump is a cheaper option which also works well. I have had both, regards Tony
Don't they need Grid electric to be effective overnight? Maybe with an modified alternator that puts out 250 amps and a big bank of batteries and inverter for when there is no place to plug in?
The I'D number is the vin number with is in the bottom left of the windscreen . Now is the time to get a pear of wheel chocks and a set of openeded spanners.
Seeing this months ago (new subscriber), but I cannot imagine the stress - I think you've dealt with all this so very well... I think I would have eaten 4 box of chocolates - at least!!!
Oh my goodness, the stress you guys went through was immense! I'm so happy that you eventually made it back home for Christmas. Merry Merry Ho Ho to all of you, the furry ones too! :)
Wow girls that was amazing episode. I felt like I was watching a movie. It had it all. Suspense. Comedy. Tradegy. The lot!! I just got to say your both really inspiring how you dealt with it all. Hope you have a lovely Xmas and New year. Big hugs for AJ and summer. Xx👍🥳🎅🎄🎈
Well done guys you made it in spite of all the stress. Double whammy situation, battery “cattle trucked” and no handbrake. So you couldn’t park on a slope to bump start the van in the morning. Tight time limits and dog worming and Covid test to get done on the way, but you got there.
A battery monitor is cheap and easy to install. When your voltage drops to 12.2 volts, start the engine and let it charge. If your rig only has one battery, be sure and have a Charged jumper pack on hand. When your battery is reaching the 5 year old mark, swap it out. It's not worth taking a chance. Also, periodically check the tire pressure in your spare. Another recipe for disaster, when you're remote. Happy trails.
What a relief when you walked into your home. That van has given you too many headaches. Have you considered swapping to a Mercedes Sprinter. Parts are readily available on the continent, and world wide. The coach travel company I used for twenty years used Mercedes Setra coaches because the coaches were in Europe more than in the UK and any breakdown had to be dealt with very quickly. Appreciate the way you keep the real feel to your channel.
It's been a long time since I've checked a channel few times in a day to see if they've uploaded. Honestly you guys are great! The amount of effort you put into your vids even with all this stress is admirable. Merry Christmas!
Van breakdown? Blimey, I’d say it was a nervous breakdown experience 😱How on earth did you come out the other side smiling girls? You two are amazingly resilient. It’s good that you sorted all this through sheer determination. You deserve a smooth trouble free next year ladies!! I love your channel because it’s not OTT sweet and sugary like some others💕💕
Well done, the content of your channel is fantastic. It reminds us our travel around Europe 20-30 years ago. We also had the occasional mechanical 'adventure' . Simply,, you are a great team, thank you for allowing us to be part of it.
Brilliant, you made it , well done . You both deserve a endurance medal 🏅. We never could have made it through that ,my husband moans if he gets stuck in a bit of traffic ! I would of jumped ship after the first breakdown !
The B2B maybe be draining your engine battery when engine not running. I have the sterling 1260 but i have 2 breaker switches one from engine battery to b2b and 2 just after before house battery's. My shunt tells me when engine is off the b2b still charging the house battery's for that reason i turn it off .
OMG, my heart was in my mouth for most of that!! Thank goodness you got home in time, I can’t tell you how happy I am for you. I hope you both had a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to seeing your adventures in the New Year. Big hugs to all of you ❣️ Liz & Gray xx
10/10 for trying Emily 😂 Oh, jeez, you both were put through it! I hope your Christmas was kind to repay you...I had sweaty palms just watching and a big smile at the end. It takes guts to be candid and vulnerable like you were, yet you managed humor in the face of adversity...AJ in the hat ❤
33:24 "tinkering about in my fanny"... "A little bit of Christmas innuendo". 😂 Oh yeah, Cruising the Cut was right about you two. Thanks for adding that bit. (David kindly explained about the name of your van)
So happy you made it home for Christmas! Hopefully you can get the van fixed and cold weather ready and back out on your travels early in the new year. Best wishes to all
Lynn and I are so glad to see you made it home for Christmas, we look forward to seeing your adventures in the New Year, all that's left to say is Happy New year to all. x
Glad you made it home in time for Christmas! Excited to see what you do going into 2022. As one of the issues you had was a flat battery, would it be worth having a seperate battery jump starter? I have a NOCO Boost Plus GB40 in my car incase I run it dead when car camping, but its rated for up to 3.0L Diesel engines so I could use it if / when I get a van, might save you a call out in future if you've run down your starter battery! Even in this instance your battery was dead completely and not holding charge, a jump starter might just help you get going again!
Thanks Matt, not sure what lou has in mind she won't even tell me so I'll be watching the vud she makes as well to find out, few people have suggested that as well 😀 have a great NY
That had us on the edge of our seats! And a lot of oh No’s not again. We are totally relieved you got home safely, with your sense of humour intact. 😬 Please vlog the upgrades we have not yet winter proofed our build, it will be really interesting to see you winter proof Fanny.
I am playing catch up on your channel and have just got to this point in your journey. I know I am a good 9 months behind but still loving the content just the same. I don’t like spoilers so the bell notification is so annoying. Love the banter, it is in true British style. I can’t wait for the next adventure to begin. 👍👍👍👍👍
So glad you girls made it home for Christmas. You certainly kept us all on the edge of our seats. You can put it all behind you for the time being and enjoy Christmas.Brilliant video made out of several bad situations.Looking forward to the van video’s in the new year wishing you both a happy Christmas and even better new year 🤞🤞
Great video, I haven't seen the next video yet but in the past, I built SVO (special operation vehicles) and was a motorsport mechanic and you did well. Presumably, your camper batteries are chassis earthed so I would suggest a fused link back from the camper batteries to the van battery with a manual cut-out or a dash-switched relay (winch solenoid) as an emergency starting backup. My other advice is to build yourself a van spares kit and stash it onboard... it is way easier to find a mechanic to just fit your parts than a garage to supply and fit in an emergency. Hugs to AJ and the moggy! , All the best Jenna.
If you're using a hand brake while driving, that would be a hand brake turn... that's why you can drive safely without one! If you're on a steep hill waiting at traffic lights, it's a bit trickier just using the foot brake without the hand brake but not too difficult and worst that happens is you stall it a few times and hold up traffic, but everyone around you would be stationary anyway...
Jeez ladies, I thought my sister and her wife (who are absolutely infamous for their camping breakdowns in France (they haven't ventured any further yet!!!) - 2 cars (1 with trailer) and 1 van so far!) were bad but you're taking this whole breaking down to a whole new level!!! Bossing it! That was a brilliantly hilarious video, so glad you made it home safely x
So happy you made it back! (Sorry about your starter motor, Emily!) Mr Refills panicked when Lou blurred her face out while changing hats. I had to explain it’s a running joke about her always wearing a hat, not concealing an illness or deformity 😂😂
Funk girls 😢 i could feel your stress ,bad luck comes in 3s by Fecken God you 2 and the pets went thru some bad luck ,i watch you all the time love the adventures ,thank you for still smiling ,,take care ❤
I very much appreciate the videos of the reality of van life. It's not all beauty and glory. I'm very happy to see you safe and smiling and I hope 2022 brings more smiles your way.
What a journey, but you made it through all the obstacles. Lou and Emily, you are my fav couple on RUclips. Love pooch and puddy cat they are so sweet, yes still binge watching, very addictive. 😊❤️
I have the Fiat version of your van and the same thing happened to me during Covid too. But worse! The handbrake lining came off and completely stuffed everything in the wheel. 6 months later the parts arrived in Australia from Italy. Luckily the tow truck driver brought my van to my block of land and I at least had a bit of solar power. Stressful??? Just a bit. Well done for staying pretty chilled 😊
No one could say your vlogs are boring! So pleased you made it back in time for Christmas. I hope it was a good one. Looking forward to seeing you back on your travels soon. 🚐
Loved the triumphant music heralding the arrival of the AA to tend Fanny's ailments. Even better to see you home for Christmas. Hope it was a very happy time with family.
Edge of the seat stuff girls, don't need too many of those. Emily - thought you were going to cry but you did a stirling job with the breakdown people. Louise, you held it all together and top marks for driving through the night. Must have been a wonderful feeling putting that key in your front door. See ya next year. Stay safe.
Put it into reverse gear. My partner always does that and we are not on an incline. Never puts it into 1st always reverse. Great video even if you had your problems.
You used 'that' clip :D excellent. The handbrake issue would have been such a small thing at any other time or if you were at home, so I think fanny deserves some compliments for behaving so well in such inclement weather really :) That couple with the battery was just typical though, when it rains.......... Glad you both got home safely and I hope you both enjoyed your Christmas :) xx
It's good to be home, so right if it wasn't on top of Xmas it wouldn't have been such a rush to get it done and back, but as always more was wrong that just the handbrake 🤦♀️
Brave women with a dodgy camper van , a patient dog and a skittish cat. Lovely family ,have a great New Years celebration with the extended family in the UK, ……..we will join you in whatever 2022 brings to the world.
That was like Planes, Trains and Automobiles!! That's the most entertaining thing that has been on this Chrsitmas and New Year. First time on your channel and loved it! And your honesty on the other video about vanlife, you just proved it. There are no failures in life only experiencies we learn from. Ive been vanning for many years. Theres nothing wrong in going home and regrouping, and retrhinking and redoing it's what it is all about. I really admire you both for the challenges you faced and overcame them. You both look good together, stayed loved and happy!!
Woah you gals are just the best .... you cope with whatever is thrown at you !! Well done you two 👊 For a minute then at the end, I thought we were gonna see Lou hatless 😮
Here, we celebrate X-Mas as follows: 23rd, tamales and some families decide to have gifts on the 24th. Tamales will be ready early in the morning, party starts with a breakfast and coffee, then up to the 25th, some people travel to the beach on the 26th... With delicious leftovers and back the same day. Glad to see you made it, quite A Series of Unfortunate Events... VanLife version. Memories are better told the morning after. Happy NEW YEAR... Next one is gonna a lot greater. ¡¡PURA VIDA!!
Cruising the Cut brought me over here and I spent most of the morning watching your most recent videos, great work! I can not wait to see the rest, so happy to have found this channel.
Omg the best video yet on how to make what could have been a totally crap situation into comedy gold 😆 brilliant stuff !! Great to see you home, enjoy - you so deserve the break ☺️👍🏼 x
Glad you got Fanny sorted so you could get home for Christmas, hope you had a great time ... 😊 Even when things are going horribly wrong, you still manage to keep smiling, don't know how you do it but it's great & so are you. Have really enjoyed sharing your travels & shenanigans in 2021 & hope 2022 is a fabulous year for you & your adventures. Keep laughing! 😆 x x
Your poor Fanny being interfered with by German engineers omg I hope they were gentile with her. I am sure they gave her a good seeing to, I am sure that during the winter months you will get stuck into Fanny and get her sorted out 🤣🤣. Well done lady's the stress levels must have been through the roof, glad your home safe n sound 👍. All the best for the new year should have got a VW 🤙🤣😂
Bloody Nora, you girls love to live life on the edge. Also, I admire your optimism of taking your coats off before knowing if the van was going to start 😃 welcome home and hope you had the Christmas you both deserved.
Camper Vibe Breakdown in Europe 2 (the sequel) was brilliant! Oh the drama! Loved every second of it. The ups and downs. I did feel the new character (Summer) needed more screen time. Head to IMDB for my full review...
Still trying to visualise that last remark! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Glad all was sorted out in the end! Shame it had to happen! Lou did well to get you back for Xmas! Weldone! Hope you had a good time! Hoping for a Hassle free 2022!
Just found your channel last night and I've sat and binged watched most your videos your sense of humour is right up my street and Emily's reactions for classic 🙌🙌
Absolutely a favorite… My Husband & I live in Oregon & have had a couple of vans but @76&78 we have ordered a new 2022 Revel 4x4…. not going out with a whimper! Have forwarded these to our camper van buddies Joy & Liz.
I can't remember if we have commented on your videos before, but we love watching them! We live on a sailboat preparing to sail the world... it's like aquatic bus life! :) stay safe out there!
Just came across your channel randomly and I am so happy to find people talking about vanlife realities, I couldn't have related more. These situations have happened to me so many times over the past 2 years and sometimes you think its just you that ends up in garage after garage 🤣 Wishing u guys a happy 2022 with no more van trouble, and much more adventure 😊
Fair play you two are honest and a hard working pair also very funny 😄 I've had a tough couple of weeks just discovered your duo today thanks for making me smile 😃

You certainally do have adventures in your Campervan. Well done to you both for letting us all come along with you.
😆😆 yeah always taking 1 step further, we feel their pain
So happy you made it back! (Sorry about your starter motor, Emily!)
Mr Refills panicked when Lou blurred her face out while changing hats. I had to explain it’s a running joke about her always wearing a hat, not concealing an illness or deformity 😂😂
Oh no, yeah just lou being lou 😆 and thanks starter motor fixed now 😀
Thank you ladies 🎉 your videos have really made me laugh, well done to you both I’m impressed and smiling, thank you 🙏
Funk girls 😢 i could feel your stress ,bad luck comes in 3s by Fecken God you 2 and the pets went thru some bad luck ,i watch you all the time love the adventures ,thank you for still smiling ,,take care ❤
I very much appreciate the videos of the reality of van life. It's not all beauty and glory. I'm very happy to see you safe and smiling and I hope 2022 brings more smiles your way.
Aw thanks Sara and you too 🙂😀
What a journey, but you made it through all the obstacles. Lou and Emily, you are my fav couple on RUclips. Love pooch and puddy cat they are so sweet, yes still binge watching, very addictive. 😊❤️
Aw thank you, glad you are enjoying the vids
Park wheels into the kerb. Or chock a wheel. Oh you did chock.
Golden rule for me. Battery let's me down when it shouldn't have. New battery.
I'm surprised you didn't have a good cry, Louise!
You 2 are epic..all that stress would have fried my brains..especially with the animals. Well done on getting home with Fanny 👍💪❤️
Thank you
I have the Fiat version of your van and the same thing happened to me during Covid too.
It really was thank you 😊
If facing uphill, put it in 1st, if facing downhill, put it in reverse.
So glad that you made it back home and that Fanny managed to get a little bit of tinkering done. 😂😀👍. Here's to a guid Hogmanay 2022.x
Too much tinkering 😆😆😆
So so pleased you got home in time. Pissed my self laughing when you blurred it on the hat change!
Of course she had to 🤣
Loved the triumphant music heralding the arrival of the AA to tend Fanny's ailments. Even better to see you home for Christmas. Hope it was a very happy time with family.
It qas great to get home 😀🙌
Edge of the seat stuff girls, don't need too many of those. Emily - thought you were going to cry but you did a stirling job with the breakdown people. Louise, you held it all together and top marks for driving through the night. Must have been a wonderful feeling putting that key in your front door. See ya next year. Stay safe.
Oh it really was, I loved seeing that door for sure 😀 ot was a rough few days but we get through these things together 🙂
Put it into reverse gear. My partner always does that and we are not on an incline. Never puts it into 1st always reverse. Great video even if you had your problems.
Y'all handled that like real troopers. At some point I would have had a hissy fit!
Thank you for making me laugh out loud when you made the chipmunk explanation of the PCR test.
😆🤣
AJ and Summer really done well bless them, happy NY to you 😀

🇩🇪 efficiency 🤩
Glad you got back safe 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Not bad for a Southerner 🥰
🙂🙂🙂
That was like Planes, Trains and Automobiles!! That's the most entertaining thing that has been on this Chrsitmas and New Year. First time on your channel and loved it! And your honesty on the other video about vanlife, you just proved it. There are no failures in life only experiencies we learn from. Ive been vanning for many years. Theres nothing wrong in going home and regrouping, and retrhinking and redoing it's what it is all about. I really admire you both for the challenges you faced and overcame them. You both look good together, stayed loved and happy!!
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
It's been great coming home, catching up spending time with family now to get the van ready 😀
These videos are much more interesting than the regular travel stuff. It’s all something to think about.
Oh yeah, we try to share as much as possible 😀
Woah you gals are just the best .... you cope with whatever is thrown at you !! Well done you two 👊 For a minute then at the end, I thought we were gonna see Lou hatless 😮
😆😆 nearly did, so close 🤣
so glad you finally got home safely and hope you getyour Fanny sorted so she can have some more adventures.
Oh now that sounds lovely 😀😀
Cruising the Cut brought me over here and I spent most of the morning watching your most recent videos, great work! I can not wait to see the rest, so happy to have found this channel.

Glad you got Fanny sorted so you could get home for Christmas, hope you had a great time ... 😊
Even when things are going horribly wrong, you still manage to keep smiling, don't know how you do it but it's great & so are you. Have really enjoyed sharing your travels & shenanigans in 2021 & hope 2022 is a fabulous year for you & your adventures. Keep laughing! 😆 x

Pretty Christmas 🎄 lights and decors
Bloody Nora, you girls love to live life on the edge. Also, I admire your optimism of taking your coats off before knowing if the van was going to start 😃 welcome home and hope you had the Christmas you both deserved.
Oh yeah we are so life on the edge for all the wrong reasons 🤣 we had a great one thank you, hope you did as well
Camper Vibe Breakdown in Europe 2 (the sequel) was brilliant! Oh the drama! Loved every second of it. The ups and downs. I did feel the new character (Summer) needed more screen time. Head to IMDB for my full review...
Summer definitely needed more airtime, the diva she is, she has said she will walk off set if she doesn't get it on the next trip 👑
I had to watch without seeing any comments ha ha , so glad you made it back pmsl@ Emily Lou will be tinkering in my fanny 🤣🤣Merry Christmas all 🎅
😆 amazing that you managed it, hope you had a good one
Awww no bless you both. Again such a lovely vlog. Bless you both such amazing couple 🤗🤗🐾🐾♥️

Absolutely a favorite… My Husband & I live in Oregon & have had a couple of vans but @76&78 we have ordered a new 2022 Revel 4x4…. not going out with a whimper! Have forwarded these to our camper van buddies Joy & Liz.
Oh wow that will be awesome 😀🥳
Oh my please don't get discouraged!! You'll conquer this and make it back. We're praying that your issues stop. God Bless
Oh we won't, we love it really 😀
I can't remember if we have commented on your videos before, but we love watching them! We live on a sailboat preparing to sail the world... it's like aquatic bus life! :) stay safe out there!

Just came across your channel randomly and I am so happy to find people talking about vanlife realities, I couldn't have related more. These situations have happened to me so many times over the past 2 years and sometimes you think its just you that ends up in garage after garage 🤣 Wishing u guys a happy 2022 with no more van trouble, and much more adventure 😊

Guys you are true troopers.I don't know how you keep so positive despite all the van is throwing at you.
