    I don't think non vloggers understand how much it disrupts your day having to plant the camera, walk away from it, walk past it, go back an pick it up, catch up to where you were and repeat and then to do that on a bloody steep hill. I'm far too lazy, but that's why your vlogs are so good. Well done Lou.

    Your cinematography and drone shots are absolutely amazing. But what really makes your videos so special is the two of you. You make me happy, you make me laugh, you make me feel as if I'm right there with you. You guys are just too cool ,keep doing what you're doing.

    The wood on the stave churches is actually bog wood almost petrified, some thousands of years old, the peat in Norway is black so the colour of the wood turns black over time it’s the hardest wood around, and was used in or way to build from circa 2000 + years ago. Norway looks incredible and you two are cracking me up as usual, 😂 Thank you so much for sharing your VanLife with us Old Owl 🦉 Alaya UK.

    • @haakonoeritsland5335
      @haakonoeritsland5335 Год назад +6

      Actually, it is just pine wood with a high content of resin (the trees were partially debarked some years before being felled, allowing the wood to saturate with sap/resin). After building with this wood, they painted it with burnt wood tar over and over, thus building up a thick, protective layer of brown/black, hardened tar. The stave churches are still being maintained the same way, using wood tar made the same way as back then.

    • @sidselfjeld3312

      Why the chuch is black is because they maintaind it with tar. Over the years it became black, thats why.

    I've just discovered your channel and have been binging for the last 2 weeks. I make myself stop after 6 episodes a night! anyhow, I totally sympathize with Lou when it comes to tunnels. i tend to hyperventilate! But I also sympathize with Emily and her snack cupboard.... you tend to get the shakes when it gets too low. Loving your banter and the fact that you are so down to earth. If you ever come to Northern Ontario, Canada you will always have a place to stay here on our farm. AJ and our Molly could run the fields!

  • @Shasha-jo5iv
    @Shasha-jo5iv 2 года назад +23

    Yes you've done it again! I'm sure the gorgeous landscape helps but this was really nicely produced. What I love about you two is that it feels like I could just be hanging with you two in the van while you talk. I like it as much as those narrations of other vloggers, as with you I feel like I'm really following you along, not just watching.
    Anyway I totally felt that church comment lol. My girlfriend used to be an evangelical Christian and her whole family hates me for seducing her off the straight and narrow which is funny considering she put the moves on me, but alright. Considering my career is based on helping women stand on their own two feet after their religion (Islam, Christianity or Judaism, doesn't matter what flavor) told them they can only be a stay at home wife with no education or self-sufficiency they might be onto something, whoops!

    The surface of the stave churches are covered by "tjære" (wood pine tar). It is an old viking recipe using "tyri ved" ( fatwood) that is full of sap to extract the maximum amount of tar. This is very flammable which accounts for a lot of lost churches lost to fires.

    The garage where emptied the sewage and got the water it likely owned by the municipality. The other van parker there at 23:17 have "Hemsedal kommune" ="Hemsedal municipality" and their coat of arms with "tenkisk drift" below. So it is a vehicle used for maintaining infrastructure in the municipality.

    Loving AJ copilot lol. I think so a pair of wind deflectors on your front windows would really help you out. I had them on my van, it really helps with condensation. I would crack (and who doesn’t love a little crack!!!!!) the windows at night 1/2 inch plus driving with them down really helps the situation with 4 earthlings breathing inside a van 🤣😂

    Wow! The look on Louise’s face through the tunnel was so panicked I felt for her 100%! I’m not even worried about tunnels but that one seemed daunting honestly. The church Emily reviewed was so cool!! The woodwork was so unique and beautiful! The hike was awesome and usually in vlogs it’s hard to capture the incline but you truly did - what fun! Your vlogs are just top of the line and your open with the viewers along the journey which makes us feel like friends who’ve yet to meet. I’ve noticed every time I watch now I feel like I want chocolate!!! Haha (no need to pay Lou, Emily, the crappy snacks don’t even count so you did a great job!

    When you have harpin turns over and over again, dont press the engine and take the engine down to almost stopping. Go down one gear and hold the speed in the engine so the turbo
    help you better.
    When you drop down to almost stopping, the turbo doesn’t help you ahead.
    This is not nagging, but a nice tip for you.

    What was said when the tunnel was opened was that the wider areas with the blue light was to break the monotony. I think the fear was that people would fall asleep while driving through the tunnel. The road over the mountain, Aurlandsfjellet, takes about an hour more than going through the tunnel. It is one of those narrow switchback roads that we have some of here in Norway. I have driven it in a VW Polo. I would not like to drive it in a van.
    Kiwi is a good choice for relatively inexpensive groceries. So is Rema 1000 and Coop Extra. Meny, Spar and Coop Obs are usually more expensive. Petrol stations are usually the most expensive choice

    Oh! Emili, haven't you ever heard of a treehouse or even a roof garden they are all the rage these days :-) but I have to admit that one was different in a big way! well worth the look. Now come on a bet's a bet and you lost it! even if the cupborad was nearly empty so I think a fiver would do. We never seem to see Lou having treats, she such a good girl.) Super trip again even with the rain, the footage of your van going into the distance must have been quite a challenge to leave Emili holding the camera in the rain wondering if you going back for her :-). I've only ever been in one tunnel and that was on a motorbike so you got to feel the temperature change straight away and I was glad to get out the other end into sunshine again. You and your four footed frends are in the right place at the moment as you probley know the temperatures here in the UK are reaching into the 40's C. Please keep up the banter it makes me laugh how you tease each other to make you trip a happy place. Stay c-o-o-l girls bye for now Ian.

    Tut tut Emily!! Hopping in and out the back..Blatant disregard for the rules!! …I think Fanny could do with some special flaps that close up when your not allowed in and only open up again once safe and parked up 😂🤣😂

    One uses the olfactory sense for flavoured water ...
    It's probably used to be also a droving road for sheep or cattle as well as w working shire type horse with cart ...not a driving road for vehicles.
    I like words! Unsurprisingly the burned effect on the wood used tar to preserve the wood as used on Norwegian ships that voyaged to Africa and elsewhere. I think the architecture of churches can be amazing and so for that very reason one can out religious beliefs or their absence to one side. It is more than awesome that people built ships and constructed churches and buildings that have lasted more than the life of a human being. Tunnels too!!!!!!!! Embrace our fears and never let those fears prevent is from living our lives. It has taken me a lifetime to do so... and sleeping in my temporary Kangoo van evenin a French curfew for 12 hours darkness helped me realise that I would survive the endurance test! You did it Louise.... Seek out more tunnels...butr maybe the adrenaline rush is what you enjoy????? Love you all.......

    Sorry girls, but you just missed the most beautiful road you could have taken driving trough lærdalstunellen. I live in sweden and drive a truck in norway for a living and drive those exact roads a few times a month. The road over aurlandsfjellet is really something else! Most beautiful place i've been to so far. BTW, i think i passed you when you checked out the "treehouse", before i found your channel. 😄👍 Thanks for showing all the awsome places that i never have time to stop and check out! 👍👍

    Girls, you are miracle workers. You keep driving underneith the tunnels instead of thru them and the van is not even smashed yet.
