We have services like here in the USA. I don't have a busy schedule. I didn't before. My dishes were chili, macaroni and ground beef with vegetables, and regular pasta with whatever was in the cupboard. I used to work in a Italian Food Warehouse so I had access to the quality products. It was nice to get extra virgin olive oil, pecarino romano cheese and pre-made desserts. From Tiramisu to Gelato, I had my pick with a employee discount.
Hope you feel better soon Emily, and hope you don’t catch it Louise! I find it very strange that people think it would be okay to track people down and just turn up at your house, that is definitely stalkers! Keep yourselves safe and never feel like you have to justify yourselves to your viewers. It’s amazing that your channel is growing, it’s very well deserved because of the content you create but keep yourselves safe from the creeps of the world! 💜
My husband just walked past. He said: Awwwh, the little one is sick. I just looked at him and replied, even you short people get sick! Cee from the little haunted cottage in ireland 💚💚💚☘☘☘
I cant believe there are people who feel they got the right to turn up at your house uninvited its crazy. Your entitled to privacy and time out.Sorry you had this to deal with .Love you vlogs 😄
My old home was featured on a property renovation show once and we literally had people come and let themselves in! You're doing the right thing by keeping the location to yourselves.
Wow! How mad that people just turn up. What is wrong with these folks? You’ve never hidden that you have a home to return. You’ve been quite clear that in your opinions most “full time vanlifers” have somewhere they can return to when needed. I really do love watching your videos. You are so refreshing and totally authentic.
I’m so vexed that some folk have the temerity to turn up at your home…..I find it astounding. Please keep safe and thank you so much for continuing to share your lives with us. Get better soon young lady and fingers crossed no more illness in the home. God bless xx
Hey, no need to “defend” the way you decide to conduct your lives especially as applies what YOU choose to share and what YOU decide not to share. Having just realized that I’ve been following you and your family for a year plus (since you returned from the Spain adventure), thanks for taking me along whenever and wherever you choose to share. Get well Emily and stay well Louise, AJ and Summer. Oh, and as far as flooring in my US home, it’s wall-to-wall carpet, hardwood, and tile (heated for winter 😊). No quilts. Quirks: lots of mowed lawn, shrubs and flower beds…and outdoor BBQ grill.
Have people really got nothing else to think about than your home 🤨 How sad. Sorry that Emily is so poorly; head pain is one of those things that wipes me out, I just can't cope with it. Hope you're better soon Em. Looking forward to you being back on the road. xx
Swede here! We usually have wooden floors, and tiled bathrooms (sometimes with floor heating). Stone isn't commonly used, nor is carpet (surprising for most non-scandinavians as we also take our shoes off at the door). Compared to the UK, houses and apartment buildings in Sweden are better isolated both with thick outer walls and double or triple glass windows. We also have some pretty effective radiators in all rooms. So our homes are dry and warm! Hope you're feeling alright!
That's the same in Denmark. I don't think we can buy anything that isn't energy efficient and easy on maintains. Most city apartments have plank flooring and regional carpets.
We are a born British, now Swedish, family and l love the wooden and laminate floors (easy to clean) but l did put carpet in the bedrooms! Large rugs are popular and many house or apartment block gardens have a frame that looks like a goal post for hanging your rugs on to beat them, or l suppose dry them . . . they are great for drying tents on after camping!
You both do not need to explain your life , it’s how you like it . Thank you for the show around cosy and yours . Junk table, we have one too . Love the dog sofa .❤️🐾👍
I'm here in Seattle, Washington, in the US -- I have a down comforter with a duvet cover on my heated waterbed. Yes, we in the US do use quilts and duvets. Love your channel!
Commenting here from Virginia, USA.....What a sweet little place you all have and it's just the right size for you two. Hope Emily starts to feel better soon and Louise doesn't catch whatever Emily has. Cant wait for you two to go on your next adventure so I can "travel along" with you. I do enjoy your videos about your adventures and all the beautiful pictures you take. Also, Louise I must say your drone footages are absolutely stunning, especially when you all were in the Nordic countries. They were amazing. They are so good you should try to sell your footage to travel agencies or to National Graphic, they are that good! Most of the pictures you take are picture postcard worthy. You should really see about getting them published. Hope that all is well and can't wait for the next adventure😊
I had to stop this video and visit the Ninja video and I have to say Emily sliding down the stairs was probably the funniest thing I have seen in a long while!
We have quilts here in the states, but usually it’s something your grandma has in her bedroom. We do have pretty awesome blankets and carpeted bed rooms however ;) Also, It’s a crime Pot Noodle hasn’t sponsored you two yet!!!
by quilts they mean duvets, not those throws made from crochet squares (when duvets first arrived in the UK in the 1960's /70's we called them continental quilts and the term quilt has sort of stuck)
The love for each other that oozes from you two is delightful. Hello fresh must be easy to follow if Louise can do follow it 😂 and having cleaned her fanny 😉 . Take no notice of all these negative attitudes that is posted on here, most are just looking for 15 minutes of fame. Hope Emily recovers soon and can’t wait for the next vid
Its so totally obvious that you two have a home to retreat to when not on the road but its also obvious that your passion is being out in the van. Great to see you still enjoying life and looking forward to the next adventure.
Most Alaskans have quilts or heavy wool blankets😁 I live in a tiny house with two dogs so laminate flooring with rugs makes clean up much easier. Totally get the privacy thing!!! I originally painted my house a happy blue color when I lived out of town. But when I moved into town I repainted in to match the houses around me so it wouldn’t draw so much unwanted attention. I get that people are curious but seriously- would you walk up to a stranger’s house and demand a tour? 😬 Love your videos! Thank you for sharing!
Hope you get well soon Emily, I’m English and live in England now, but my late husband was American and we lived in the states for a while, all my American friends used quilts on their beds, never saw any one with just blankets
I can’t believe you have to justify having a house. I live full time in a van but would love a house to go back to from time to time. Vanlife is getting so much harder in the uk ( some of us don’t have the luxury of travelling full time because we can,t be fully remote with work) so to have somewhere to go and just get away from vanlife stresses ( yes there are some) would be wonderful. Thankyou ladies for getting so many great messages out there and and dispelling so many vanlife assumptions ❤
Hope you feel better, Emily! In Sweden we had carpets in the 70s, but after that it has become less common because it easily becomes difficult for allergy sufferers as floors are easier to clean.
Hope your feeling better soon Emily. It would be well worth the effort of giving the van a coat of a good polish, something like auto glym super resin polish. Yes it will make the van nice and shiny, but also leaves a smoother finish on the paintwork making it harder for dirt to stick to it so its easier and quicker to wash it.
We in Norway 🇳🇴 had full-covering floor carpets back in the 80s. I can hardly get over how unhygienic it was. Now most have floors that can be washed (thank goodness because I have a cat). To keep warm in winter, many have electric floor heating . Many also have a woodstove to use on cold days. In the beds we often have duvets with eider feathers during the winter. Thanks for the house tour. Best wishes to you both and 🐕+🐾🐾. I hope you recover soon, Emily.
Very nice, yeah we do like our carpet and if you keep it clean, wash it regularly then it’s not that unhygienic, I suppose but like quilts, people forget to get them cleaned and they absorb so much sweat during the night 😫😆
In America, we use duvets and comforters for making the beds (so if company comes, it looks nice) then take that off and use a blanket (not quilt) for sleeping tho beck in the 1800s to 50’s, quilts were very much used - and still at times in use to day but not often. Usually a family my bed will make one to pass on but rarely do we buy one at a store -
I'm trying to remember the last house tour. I remember the screw driver to flush the toilet, but I'm sure there were fewer door handles, so there has been progress. Get well soon Emily!!
Fitted and flat sheet with a comforter. A large portion of US homes have a separate small space for laundry with a door to cut down the noise. No junk room, but we rent out storage lockers or just fill up the enclosed garage.
Here in the US we pretty much use blankets and some quilts it depends on what area you are in but to me it's all the same as long as I can get warm I don't care and it looks nice that's what we mostly want to look nice you look pretty anyways give AJ and the kitty cat a hug for me and you'll have a good day
In Norway you have wooden floors or parquet. "Wall to wall carpets" were fashionable in the 70s. There may be tiles in the entrance area, as in the bathroom.
Probably something that I've always had in homes where I've lived is a tumble dryer (for clothes) that I just don't see in pictures and videos from UK/Europe. Full height refrigerator/freezers (usually a combination single units) are pretty much standard in the US at least outside of smaller living arrangements in big cities. And in the Southeast US, air conditioning is mandatory. And there's a whole swath of the country where our roads don't freeze much and hardly ever get salted so our cars and vans don't rust away!
I have a condenser tumble dryer in my kitchen, and I wouldn't be without it. I know a lot of people that don't have one though, and given how much rain we have I always find that astonishing!
We have a tumble dryer but our house is too small to fit it inside so it’s in a little shed in the garden 😀 a lot of people to have the full fridge/freezer ones but possibly not as big as what you get in the US
In Australia, many houses would have timber/laminated flooring as it is easy to install and clean. Tiles are for bathroom and kitchen areas as they are waterproof. Some houses would have carpet in their bedroom as it is nice and warm in winter. However, Australia can get very hot in summer so timber flooring has its advantages.
Feel better Emily! I'm in the northeast US and I have a down comforter and a duvet on my bed in addition to an electric blanket. I also have wood floors throughout except tile in the bathroom. Thanks for the tour of your house, it's really big compared to your van!!!
Dallas, Texas USA here. Love your house. We have an older home (55 years old) and we originally had carpet throughout. 20 years ago we began removing it and replacing with Pergola laminate. With our many cats, the laminate is so much easier to keep clean. Carpet is never truly clean.
Great video, as always girls 👍 OMG...I can't believe complete strangers think it is OK to just turn up at your door!!! What is wrong with these people? Quite a lot would be my answer😋 I think you are both more gracious than I'd have been about it. Get well soon Emily . Lou, I have to say that you've fallen for one of the oldest tricks in the book...NEVER let your wife know that you can cook!!!! Keep those excellent videos coming 👌
You two are such a loving couple and so cheerful your vlogs are great I look forward to seeing them and nice to see your babies and aj getting he's own sofa and kitty getting her own room bless you both x x x
I notice most homes in the UK have their washer & a small fridge under the counters. In the US alot of homes have laundry rooms & full size fridges. As for bedding it's a personal preference I guess. Some have quilts, comforters or duvets. Thanks for the tour!
First things first Lou All your videos are top!! People are bored People are gossip And some slow people might think They are famous No place 4 privacy But that's not how it works We all deserve privacy and respect Hugs ☀️☀️
One of your fellow RUclipsrs "Eva zu Beck" stayed at a really cool place in Poland. No carpets there! USA also likes carpets, but it does depend on the location of the house, Indonesia wood or ceramic floors. Hope you're better for the next vid; Sickbay Ranger.
Thank you guys for a great video. Me and the better half love watching you both and your cinematography is spot on. We personally camp when we are out and about but thats because we both have motorbikes but having said that wether you camp or have a camper van I think it’s the love of the outdoors that bring our community together. Always looking forward to see more of you both. Take care and again Thank you so much for your brilliant vlogs.
Hope you feel better soon Emily ❤ That’s awful people turning up at your home :( it’s truly a beautiful home ❤❤ Lovely vlog sending hugs to you both :) 😊
Oh we have lots of wood floors! I have tons of quilts at my house, since I am a quilter every bed has 1-2 quilts on it. I have seen your videos from the house....good grief what else can someone start rumors about. How silly! I don't vlog, but am a vanlifer....whenever I can get out in it. Weekends, and loads of vacation time. Just keep doing what you all are doing...it works and I love watching!
Get well soon Emily. Aldi's do a nice pot noodle Thai Green Curry and other flavours in the middle aisle. You both have a lovely home keep it. In Scotland you can still buy a "Fixed Price" home meaning that the price you see is what you pay for it. I think London house prices are just extortionate.. Its always nice to see Fanny spruced up and shiny.
In New Zealand we don’t have central heating, the lounge has a fire place which heats a large space, however you do run from the lounge straight into bed to keep warm at night.
Hope you're feeling better Emily. Can't believe what people are like, we all know you got a house, some people need to get a life. And your private life is yours, not for anyone else. Never going to forget the Ninja video, it was just the best. Funny fact, bathroom colour, got same colour as feature wall in living room and few other bits. Good taste hahaha Love and Hugs Both, keep being yourselves. Fabulous as always X
Love the Chanel, love your travels. I'm sure your bolt hole is a great option when you need to spend time in one place and a good thing to insure the future.
Hi from New Zealand ladies 👍. Yes we have carpet in our homes too. We also drive on the same side of the road like you do in the UK. One thing different is we do not have washing machines in our kitchens. We have a separate laundry room or it is in the internal access garage 👍 oh and we have fully insulated homes and double glazing on the windows 🪟.
The house looks very nice. 🥰 Hopefully, in the future, the You tube followers let you have your privacy. And yes, we have carpets, duvets, and quilts in Canada! 🇨🇦
Hope you get better soon Emily I've just had that virus not nice I know how you feel. Love your little house it's good that you have a base to come back to after your travels. X
Your are the best! In Sweden, we generally don't have carpets in every room. Nowadays, its more common to carpet the bedrooms. In our other rooms we have wooden floor with only a small carpet. In the bathrooms and hallways, you often find floor with tiles and are also heated (due to the cold and water, e.g. snow). Thank you for wonderful vlogs. Take care.
I am really enjoying your videos. I like it that you are both completely natural and you are showing your real selves. I was born in England and now living in Canada for a long time. You mention duvets and quilts and wonder if other countries use them. We do here in Canada as it gets pretty darn cold in the winter. As far as carpeted floors. A lot of people here in Canada have upgraded to hardwood floors as well as laminate wood-looking floors with in-floor heating. (much healthier for anyone who has allergies, easier to clean and does not show the dirt as much). You both should consider coming to Canada and doing your van life across Canada. It's a great big country, full of forests, lakes, oceans, mountains, wild animals and very friendly people. You could have your van shipped across the Atlantic ocean as I have heard of people doing that. Perhaps a sponsor could help with the cost. Anyway, thank you for these videos.
You2 rock. so great you don't seem, at least on camera, to take personally what others say. sad that most want to assume to worst or project onto others. it says more about themselves than who they are projecting onto. Love the way your navigate & word while being direct & clear yet not pushy or emotional with people turning up to house. not watched you for a while as different ones of us watch connect with different peeps/youtubers & in a few days we are actually aiming for a social media detox for 108 days while hopefully we can have some deep inwards reflection of changing patterns/habits & really suss how to get ourselves financially self sufficient maybe from youtube, patreon style things but who knows hoping meditation, our sub & superconscious and the greater forces at play will all start collaborating so this flow of clarity including values and energies of working smarter not harder happen. you two inspire us greatly and thanks for all you both do and following your dreams & passions! FABULOUS ENERGIES TO ENGAGE IN! XXXX ps it amazes us how peeps would put that effort into finding where you live. maybe its not hard but to us we wouldn't know where to start and feel it would take up a lot of time and energy to do that and if they are smarter enough to figure that out and go to that effort it would be so lovely if they found the confidence to guide that energy in more self productive ways.
That’s going to be an awesome detox for sure 😮😀 We don’t take things personally, it takes a lot to get to us, we just like to clear things up for some 😂😂 Have an amazing detox 😀😀
Here in the northeast USA we have carpet, hardwood, vinyl and laminate floors. We also use quilts, duvets and comforters as well as blankets. Really depends on where and who. Some use lots of pillows on the bed, I am not a fan.
Carpet is usually not used here in Sweden, not up north atleast I don't see it very often. One other thing that struck me as odd is having the washing machine in the kitchen, is that normal in the UK, or is it just because you're short on space? We usually have a seperate room for it or in the bathroom. Much love from Sweden, hope Em gets well soon :)
Hi, yes its normal to have the washing machine in the kitchen. Uk houses are small and don’t have utility rooms, unless your rich, and our bathrooms are just big enough for bath, sink and toilet.
I love finding all this stuff out and it’s nice to share some of the things like our washing machines in the kitchens, yeah that is pretty normal over here in the UK
Yep, wash machine in the kitchen - where it belongs !! The plumbing is under/next to the sink usually (Stop tap usually under the sink) so . . . why would you extend pipework to other parts of the house to accommodate a washing machine? It's just more of a chance of a leak somewhere along the way ... and such a problem to keep checking all is ok 🙄
@@joline2730 In US we have laundry rooms in our houses, either in basement, or a separate room, some smaller houses might have a cupboard or alcove in which stackable washer and dyer is fitted. A washer in kitchen would be seen as extremely strange. Doing laundry where you prepare food would be unacceptable . In a pinch the washer and dyer could be in a bathroom.
@@campervibe If you watch some of the Supernanny series, you will see how big US houses are - that's ordinary people, not the rich. Everything is bigger over there !! 😀
Love your Chanel, I am a Brit, living in Russia for over 20 yrs now, seriously thinking of buying a Van and travelling all over the place, I own a few places here in Moscow, rarely any carpet :) weird I know, but old Russian houses do have rugs on the walls.. yes, weird huh, anyway, love ya both, keep it up. Len
The sticks and bricks is lovely! I grew up in Alabama, USA..big 2 story house....we had carpet in most areas. Tile in bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room. Did have hard wood in foyer and dining room. I now live in Washington State, USA on the side of a little mountain and bathrooms are tile and everything else is hardwood with large area rugs so you can get out of bed and put feet on something warm and same in living/family room. I've spent time in the UK and the one thing I found different was the multiple doors. One door to enter which typically does include the stairs but another door to actually get to the "lounge". Which I thought kept those lounge spaces cleaner and at a better temperature......here is the states it's common to come in front door and there isn't another door to get into the lounge area... well it's America so living area. Anyways, enjoyed the tour. Hope everyone is healthy now!!!! 🤞🤞 Safe travels, have fun and than you for sharing y'all's adventures!
I hope you're feeling better now Emily, and that Louise is well too. Thank you for the tour of your lovely house, I really like it. I'm so sorry though that you have had absolute idiots turning up at your house or following you round, that's the downside of RUclips, some people think it gives them the right to invade your privacy 😟
Another cracking video ladies. Grab some Owatrol Polytrol colour restorer it will make your plastics look shiny, only need a little on a brush then use cloth to wipe excess off....
The main difference between the UK and the US with the use of quilts and duvets is that in the US you usually have a top sheet underneath the duvet, rather than just using the duvet cover as your top sheet. This means that duvet covers get washed slightly less often than your regular sheets. My understanding for the UK, (and when I lived in Ireland) is that there was no top sheets, just the duvet covers so that got stripped off and washed when you did your sheets… with our fluffy dog, we have A top sheet, then a blanket, then our duvet, then a dog sheet on top of the duvet, so that we can get away With only washing the duvet cover once a month, but washing all the sheets once a week(ish). During the rainy season, the dog sheet often gets washed three times a week, as she has a lot of fluff… and that’d be a pain in the a** to strip the duvet that often 🐾💕🐶 And feel better!
@@campervibe It is. But its true that most people in US use a top sheet, probably a blanket and then a comforter (duvet). I cant stand just a comforter, if I get too warm and I need to roll back comforter I have no covering!
Shallots are the onions used for pickled onions. Yes, I miss carpets, though I did put one in the bedroom in my house in Hungary. Otherwise it was tiles or parquet flooring. I also find wallpaper is not popular outside UK. Something I would take with me if going to campsites is a bathroom mat I could put near the shower, something to stand on when getting dressed.
We live in Scotland I use two 13.5 Duets on my bed plus a cozy throw. Carpets on the stairs bedrooms wooden flooring and tiles downstairs. We have just recently found you both again loving being back❤
Same as Sweden, here in Finland we usually have wooden floors (especially in traditional houses) and we always take shoes off at the door 😊 houses are quite well insulated so floor heating is not always necessary, but almost every house has some kind of wood burning fireplace or stove! Get well soon Emily 💛
Owning the house ,then traveling around in your van,is a perfect combination,Ladies please don’t listen to people that criticise you, they are just jealous of your more than perfect approach to life......life is full of f--g dullards.....have fun 🎉
G'day! Just discovered your channel a few days ago after borrowing a library book here in Aus all about 'Van life'. LOVE your channel! You guys are SO funny and happy and great to watch. Me and hubby are longtime campers too, starting off with a tent, then a canvas/trailer, now, in our 60's, a little camper van (A-Van Cruiser). We need our creature comforts these days! Our cat Possum travels with us too. I'm really into nature photography, and just learning video-making with a gimbal, so I'm loving the videos you make, Lou. Hope you get an opportunity to visit Australia one day, it'd be a great place for your photography and places to enjoy. Thanks for sharing all you do, take care, stay safe and well. And I'm going to spend AGES looking through all the many videos you've made.
Never knew there was a hierarchy in van-living - who would have thought 😉. Ignore the idiots and the ‘my van-life is more authentic than your’ mob, I haven’t been following you for more than a couple of months and it’s been made clear that you have a base, same as The Ex-pawers. Nothing wrong with that. Sorry to hear Emily has been unwell but hope you are both ok now. Oh and I love the colour of your bathroom 😂💕
We have seen most of your house from time to time, and it is just perfect for 2 people, a dog & cat. Hope you get rid of that flu soon Emely. Don't know why it should bother anyone that you would have a house. It gives you a bit of security in case things go wrong, like it did in Spain. All the time on the road can start to get a bit painful after a while, and getting back to the house can be a nice break.
I don't think I've ever seen a sponsor section or ad worked so well into a video. Congrats this is the first video I've watched the sponsor section in without skipping
Feel better Emily!! I’m in Northwestern Ontario (Canada)…and although carpets are a thing here, most people opt for bare wood (with tiling in kitchen/bathrooms). We use throw rugs for a cozy feel. And as for blankets versus quilts…I think this varies by household. We use duvets on the beds. With the option of extra blankets/comforters (in my house). And lots and lots of smaller blankets for the couches and chairs. Take care!!!
By jings yous are both fantastic yous really are. I first saw your program when you both moved into your beautiful Irish cottage, and yous work like Trojan’s. I love the dog and the cat.I wish you both a long and happy and healthy live. Take care. Margaret-Ann Fae Perth.xx
In Texas, we don’t have radiators. The hot air blows out of vents from the ceiling or floor to heat the house. I grew up in the UK as a kid ever since I moved to the states 30 years ago, I’ve always missed central heating. Not a fan of hot air blowing on me. It’s also more common to paint walls instead of wallpaper
Sorry you have been unwell Emily😔Hope you feel better very soon 💞 Please don't feel you have to justify yourselves to everyone! There are no rules that say you have to live full time on the road if you are in the category van life! You can do what you want. The two of you are what make these videos. We watch them to see you and your pets 😊 The great scenery and travelling in your van are bonuses. Keep up the good work.
You're the sensible ones, so no need to apologise for owning a house ! I'm sure that most of your subscribers live in houses and are not van lifers themselves , just dreamers, seems like a nice idea types, like me ! I have driven to Spain and back 7 times, but after the 3rd time i decided to spend the money to rent places to stay on the journey, rather than the discomfort of sleeping in the back of a van ( In Winter ) !! So keep up the good work and i look forward to your future output! J
Much respect for your thoughts about privacy. Meeting someone while shopping is one thing, but showing up at your house is a different matter. As a Norwegian, we are rather private, but there is a difference in cityfolks, and "us" on the contryside. Ahh, and housevise... My 5 year old house has vinyl floor in kitchen/living room. Tiles in bathroom and entrance. And cheap, fake woodfloor in the 3 bedrooms. Will change to real wood when the loan is paid back in 10/15 years time. 😉 I must admitt, seeing a washing machine in the kitchen is odd tho.. We have em int the bathroom, where leakage or spills will desapear in the drainage. 😉
The bathroom makes more sense to me to be fair, it’s where you take off your dirty clothes so why not have it in there, although we could definitely not fit it in our bathroom
In Sweden, we have well-insulated houses 😉 They were common many years ago with carpets, but then it was claimed that a lot of unhealthy dirt got stuck in the carpets. Since then, it has been popular with wood and parquet floors.
Hi girls, I must admit, I was on a look out when you were driving through The Netherlands last summer. So I could honk my horn, flash my lights and wave at you on the road! And that’s it. Love your shows, always watch them on Monday evenings and please ignore the silly ones. ❤
You guys are only being honest with your followers.i agree with you,you don't have to explain how or why you don't film that much around your home.that is private to you both.love you videos you just do what makes you guys happy and safe
I'm in the US and it's different in every household. I have both quilts and blankets. There is something comforting about a quilt and/or duvets. Also, a lot of newer houses are carpeted, but there are just as many houses that are hardwoods or tiled. I think this is a mix of the age of the houses or just an appreciation for a more traditional style. There are also many that prefer tile because they have a love for pets that will help with either 'accidents' or the general wear and tear of the claws of bigger dogs, etc. Personally, I love the look of hardwood floors but also layered with carpets to help keep the warmth in a room. /waving from America!
I like the fact that your videos show the other side of van life. I've seen tiny houses on RUclips bigger than your house. I've lived in apartments bigger than your house. It's very nice. We, or my family, has quilts and heavy blankets/comforters (think heavier quilt) and electric blankets. There are houses with carpet. There houses that are made with wood floors. Because I had a one job, l liked to shop for ingredients to make home cooked meals. The pre selected meals are out of my price range. Great video as always. See you on Instagram.

Thanks for sticking with us 😀😀😀
Well said. And you home sounds perfect. Apart from the quilt 😂 Nothing beats a quilt!
Have people really got nothing else to think about than your home 🤨 How sad. Sorry that Emily is so poorly; head pain is one of those things that wipes me out, I just can't cope with it. Hope you're better soon Em. Looking forward to you being back on the road. xx
Thanks Claire, I am on the mend
I love the sound of your houses, they sound very cosy 😀😀
That's the same in Denmark. I don't think we can buy anything that isn't energy efficient and easy on maintains. Most city apartments have plank flooring and regional carpets.
@@charisma-hornum-fries Sounds lovely :0
Sounds wonderful Swedes, Germans and Dutch know how to do it! 😊
Bloody junk table 😆🤦🏻♀️
I'm here in Seattle, Washington, in the US -- I have a down comforter with a duvet cover on my heated waterbed. Yes, we in the US do use quilts and duvets. Love your channel!
Good to know, but wow and heated waterbed, that’s got to be pretty cool
Hi ya, thank you that’s really nice of you to say and I am feeling loads better now 😀😀😀
I had to stop this video and visit the Ninja video and I have to say Emily sliding down the stairs was probably the funniest thing I have seen in a long while!
We have quilts here in the states, but usually it’s something your grandma has in her bedroom. We do have pretty awesome blankets and carpeted bed rooms however ;)
Also, It’s a crime Pot Noodle hasn’t sponsored you two yet!!!
by quilts they mean duvets, not those throws made from crochet squares (when duvets first arrived in the UK in the 1960's /70's we called them continental quilts and the term quilt has sort of stuck)
😂😂 I know, I so need to get onto pot noodle just for Louise’s sake 😂
@@campervibe Please do, just think how happy she would be! 😍
Yay, Pot Noodle Action Group ! lol
😂 definitely easy if Lou can cook it 😂
Its so totally obvious that you two have a home to retreat to when not on the road but its also obvious that your passion is being out in the van. Great to see you still enjoying life and looking forward to the next adventure.
I think your balance of vanlife and home life is the way to go for all the reasons you have explained XX
We totally get that way of thinking 🙂
Hope you get well soon Emily, I’m English and live in England now, but my late husband was American and we lived in the states for a while, all my American friends used quilts on their beds, never saw any one with just blankets
Oh nice, good to know
The Ninja episode is definitely my favourite too! 😁 Been here for a while now and love your energy and sense of humour. Stay safe.
🙌🙌🙌
I can’t believe you have to justify having a house. I live full time in a van but would love a house to go back to from time to time. Vanlife is getting so much harder in the uk ( some of us don’t have the luxury of travelling full time because we can,t be fully remote with work) so to have somewhere to go and just get away from vanlife stresses ( yes there are some) would be wonderful. Thankyou ladies for getting so many great messages out there and and dispelling so many vanlife assumptions ❤
Yeah it is definitely getting a lot harder for sure which is such a shame. Lou would happily not have the house but I do like a base 🙂
Hope you feel better, Emily! In Sweden we had carpets in the 70s, but after that it has become less common because it easily becomes difficult for allergy sufferers as floors are easier to clean.
From Quebec, Canada... we have Wood floor most of the time. And we have duvet on the bed!
Like it 😀
Hope your feeling better soon Emily. It would be well worth the effort of giving the van a coat of a good polish, something like auto glym super resin polish. Yes it will make the van nice and shiny, but also leaves a smoother finish on the paintwork making it harder for dirt to stick to it so its easier and quicker to wash it.
Yeah you are prob right there
Here in the US (New England here) we have comforters. They’re a heavy blanket like a duvet. If it’s cold we also grab extra blankets, or quilts.
😂😂 I know I fixed the toilet myself 😂
Fitted and flat sheet with a comforter. A large portion of US homes have a separate small space for laundry with a door to cut down the noise. No junk room, but we rent out storage lockers or just fill up the enclosed garage.
I’d love a utility room
Here in the US we pretty much use blankets and some quilts it depends on what area you are in but to me it's all the same as long as I can get warm I don't care and it looks nice that's what we mostly want to look nice you look pretty anyways give AJ and the kitty cat a hug for me and you'll have a good day
Good to know, and yeah totally with you, as long as it looks nice 😀
@@MargaretUK best invention, hope we will be able to afford the tumble driers in future!
We have a tumble dryer but our house is too small to fit it inside so it’s in a little shed in the garden 😀 a lot of people to have the full fridge/freezer ones but possibly not as big as what you get in the US
I live in Norway and it’s totally normal to have a tumble dryer and full height fridge/freezer combo. We have both plus a trunk freezer in the cellar.
That is true, it’s like a mansion compared to the van 😂
Dallas, Texas USA here. Love your house. We have an older home (55 years old) and we originally had carpet throughout. 20 years ago we began removing it and replacing with Pergola laminate. With our many cats, the laminate is so much easier to keep clean. Carpet is never truly clean.
Great video, as always girls 👍
OMG...I can't believe complete strangers think it is OK to just turn up at your door!!! What is wrong with these people?
Quite a lot would be my answer😋
I think you are both more gracious than I'd have been about it.
Get well soon Emily . Lou, I have to say that you've fallen for one of the oldest tricks in the book...NEVER let your wife know that you can cook!!!!
Keep those excellent videos coming 👌
😂 oh I knew she could semi cook it’s just the mess she makes 😆 thanks I’m feeling loads better
Nice you give fanny a good clean
You two are such a loving couple and so cheerful your vlogs are great I look forward to seeing them and nice to see your babies and aj getting he's own sofa and kitty getting her own room bless you both x x x
Oh yeah they are pampered little cuties
I notice most homes in the UK have their washer & a small fridge under the counters. In the US alot of homes have laundry rooms & full size fridges. As for bedding it's a personal preference I guess. Some have quilts, comforters or duvets. Thanks for the tour!
First things first
Lou

It really is and oh we love nature and thank you 😊
In the south of America we have quilts. They are mainly cotton, cool in summer, warm in the winter.
Hope you feel better soon Emily ❤

Hi Girls, can't believe anyone would just turn up at your home! Get well soon Emily, lots of viruses about at the moment! Xx
Oh I know, and thanks, yeah so many going about plus I have not had a cold since pre covid so I was bound to get one this year
Get well soon Emily.
Hope Emily feels better soon. Funnily enough, I live close to you, but would never dream of intruding. Great content team!
😀 I am feeling loads better and thanks
In New Zealand we don’t have central heating, the lounge has a fire place which heats a large space, however you do run from the lounge straight into bed to keep warm at night.
😆 amazing
Hope you're feeling better Emily. Can't believe what people are like, we all know you got a house, some people need to get a life. And your private life is yours, not for anyone else. Never going to forget the Ninja video, it was just the best. Funny fact, bathroom colour, got same colour as feature wall in living room and few other bits. Good taste hahaha Love and Hugs Both, keep being yourselves. Fabulous as always X

Oh yeah you guys do don’t you 😀
Thumbs up for a clean Fanny!
The house looks very nice. 🥰 Hopefully, in the future, the You tube followers let you have your privacy. And yes, we have carpets, duvets, and quilts in Canada! 🇨🇦

Hope you are all better now as well
@@campervibe I'm getting there thank you.x
Your are the best! In Sweden, we generally don't have carpets in every room. Nowadays, its more common to carpet the bedrooms. In our other rooms we have wooden floor with only a small carpet. In the bathrooms and hallways, you often find floor with tiles and are also heated (due to the cold and water, e.g. snow). Thank you for wonderful vlogs.
Take care.
😀😀😀
Don’t worry what anybody says… hope Emily is feeling better 😁💞
I am really enjoying your videos. I like it that you are both completely natural and you are showing your real selves. I was born
in England and now living in Canada for a long time.
XXXX
ps it amazes us how peeps would put that effort into finding where you live. maybe its not hard but to us we wouldn't know where to start and feel it would take up a lot of time and energy to do that and if they are smarter enough to figure that out and go to that effort it would be so lovely if they found the confidence to guide that energy in more self productive ways.
That’s going to be an awesome detox for sure 😮😀
We don’t take things personally, it takes a lot to get to us, we just like to clear things up for some 😂😂
Have an amazing detox 😀😀
You know what word funny should be text changed it
😂 and thanks
Oh yeah we do seem to have more doors and the houses are smaller as well 😆
❤ Great cleaning job. Enjoy the soup Emily. You are so kind Louise I love that. We love your cozy house.
I am feeling better thank you
Another cracking video ladies.
During the rainy season, the dog sheet often gets washed three times a week, as she has a lot of fluff… and that’d be a pain in the a** to strip the duvet that often 🐾💕🐶
And feel better!
Oh wow, that’s a lot of sheets right 😊
@@campervibe It is. But its true that most people in US use a top sheet, probably a blanket and then a comforter (duvet). I cant stand just a comforter, if I get too warm and I need to roll back comforter I have no covering!
@@campervibe you can still buy the 2-sheet sets here in Ireland, the duvet only is a German (continental) concept which has crept in
I always use a top sheet. To save on washing the quilt cover.
Yeah it’s not nice standing on wet dirty flooring in a campsite shower, I get you there
Don't give a way too many secrets😉 Get well soon, I feel the same right now:)
😂 we won’t
Yes the US has quilts, blankets, duvet covers, and comforters. We have carpet, tile and laminate floors.
I don’t know why I thought you didn’t 🙈

@@campervibe Oh no!
I do like a wood burner, I ya always nice to have one and thanks I’m feeling loads better 😀

Oh yeah Ann, these people are just silly, life is life right 😀
Good job on the van Lou hope Emily feels better soon ❤️
Why is it the majority of your sponsors are food related? Emily?
😂😂😂
We have seen most of your house from time to time, and it is just perfect for 2 people, a dog & cat. Hope you get rid of that flu soon Emely. Don't know why it should bother anyone that you would have a house. It gives you a bit of security in case things go wrong, like it did in Spain. All the time on the road can start to get a bit painful after a while, and getting back to the house can be a nice break.
Oh yeah it was a massive help after the breakdown and AJs op for sure
You guys shouldn’t have to justify yourselves! You live your life the way you want to live it!.
I choose Boat life myself :-).
Thanks 😀😀
I don't think I've ever seen a sponsor section or ad worked so well into a video. Congrats this is the first video I've watched the sponsor section in without skipping
Thanks 😀
Feel better Emily!! I’m in Northwestern Ontario (Canada)…and although carpets are a thing here, most people opt for bare wood (with tiling in kitchen/bathrooms). We use throw rugs for a cozy feel. And as for blankets versus quilts…I think this varies by household. We use duvets on the beds. With the option of extra blankets/comforters (in my house). And lots and lots of smaller blankets for the couches and chairs. Take care!!!
I do like a rug on a wooden floor, that is very cosy feeling

You 2 Crack me up! Now I gotta go find this ninja vid! Much love! Yes, we have duvets and quilts!
I so thought you didn’t 😆
In Texas, we don’t have radiators. The hot air blows out of vents from the ceiling or floor to heat the house. I grew up in the UK as a kid ever since I moved to the states 30 years ago, I’ve always missed central heating. Not a fan of hot air blowing on me. It’s also more common to paint walls instead of wallpaper
Yeah that does sound a little weird to be fair, so want to visit Texas 😀

We watch them to see you and your pets 😊 The great scenery and travelling in your van are bonuses. Keep up the good work.
This is true, you just got to do what makes you feel happy and thank you I am feeling much better
Thanks James 😀
Much respect for your thoughts about privacy. Meeting someone while shopping is one thing, but showing up at your house is a different matter.
As a Norwegian, we are rather private, but there is a difference in cityfolks, and "us" on the contryside.
Ahh, and housevise...
My 5 year old house has vinyl floor in kitchen/living room. Tiles in bathroom and entrance. And cheap, fake woodfloor in the 3 bedrooms.
Will change to real wood when the loan is paid back in 10/15 years time. 😉
I must admitt, seeing a washing machine in the kitchen is odd tho..
Quilts, Hardwood floors with large area rugs and Afghans. California. I do like carpet in bedrooms but house already had wood floors 😁 Be Safe ❤️

Hi girls, I must admit, I was on a look out when you were driving through The Netherlands last summer.

Love all the info, thank you 😊
I like the fact that your videos show the other side of van life.
😂 I’ve had cars bigger than our house 😂😂
