Simplex TrueAlert ES Manual Self-Test Demonstration

- Demonstration of a recently evolved method of testing addressable Simplex TrueAlert notification devices. The method shown in this video involves the use of a magnet to test addressable TrueAlert ES speaker/strobes on a 4100ES panel. This is termed the "manual" self-test method. There is also an "automatic" self-test method which was demonstrated in one of my prior videos on a 4007ES. Follow the link below or at the end of this video to see that demonstration.

The alarms sounded like they were spitting. Great video!
Great video 😀👍👍
Simplex is very interesting, to say the least. I’ve been Having very mixed opinions about them, the last few years. I miss the easier days of conventional systems!
Thanks for viewing!
I always loved your videos!! I wish I could do the same work as you do. I’m an enthusiast who loves his alarms! Hope to see more videos soon!! Have a good night
Test tone sounds like a spectralert advance
It sounds like an air compressor 😂
Reminds me of the "laser" tone on the System Sensor MAEH.
@@mikebode7560 what's a lazer tone?
*laser*
Max Dutiel it sounds like a dieing one being powered with filtered DC not AC
The test tone sounds like a system sensor l series
It really does that’s the crazy part
Agreed
The test tone that plays when you to the self test with the magnet on the Truealert ES Speaker Strobes needs to be changed to a 1,000 Hz test tone because the horn like test tone could scare the inspectors/testers as they're inches away from the speaker that makes the horn sound
Yay finally getting to see them in action!
Test tone sounds like SCP-079 hacked into the voice evac system.
That's pretty neat. They don't use the addressable TrueAlert signals in this part of Massachusetts, not even in Boston. Even if the Simplex system is addressable (and it typically is) they always go with conventional TrueAlert signals (typically with the multi-candela strobes). I think it's because the AHJ for this area doesn't allow use of addressable fire alarm signals.
Why does the TrueAlert make that weird sound? Why does it audibly click?
The one second loud sound is the speaker confirming audible operation. The clicking sound you hear is just the strobe flashing - all devices make that noise.
And what does All Speakers Talk mean on some Simplex panels?
@@Emmisullivan14 When the panel operator wants to broadcast a message to all the speakers in the building, they'll select that button, take out the microphone at the panel, press the button on the microphone, and usually after a brief tone (usually a chime sound) plays over the speakers alerting building occupants of a message about to be broadcast, the person operating the microphone will speak into it and the message will be heard throughout the entire building. The panel could also have messages programmed into it to be broadcast instead of a live message.
Each speaker turns on when self-test is initiated. The sounds you are hearing is the audio feedback as each device is polled.
@Brandon 268-735 The tones/messages are generated by the audio circuits from the panel, not the alarm itself.
What kind of these strobes are they chime strobes horn high pitched three tone I don't like that sound. Do most strobes are horn strobes high pitched?
Thoose simplex horn strobe es can be tested one by one with a magnet
Cool! That's helpful for us all!
Also, at least we can manually test it instead of letting technology do all the work.
I was here before the chaos
Question how does the magnet activate the fire alarm like that and does it work like that if anyone went up to that same fire alarm and did that
little ceasers arena in detroit have those alarms
I love your fire alarm
Is that test tone programmed into each speaker/strobe, or is it broadcast through the audio line of the system?
Its an audio supervision tone originating from the panel.
It plays that tone so the speaker can be tested for efficiency. the “testing channel x, device y” method is for initiating devices (pull stations, smoke and heat sensors) it wouldn’t make sense if they used that method for the self test feature.
That’s super cool!!
Great video!

Safetech where have you been? You didn't upload any of videos
Why do they have that sound and not the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE of the regular TrueAlert horns
WillardCrafto
That's only the self-test tone.
What kind of True Alerts are those? I've never seen those before
Jessica Howe speaker/strobes
It's the new TrueAlert ES alarm system. They sound different from the original TrueAlert.
It's the Truealert ES speaker strobe.
49SVC TrueAlert ES
Looks like SP strobe.
sounds like a low pitched advance.... when i change the pitch of them on roblox it sounds like that. Also, i would love to hear those things while you walked away, the reverb would be cool.
@@noxious_nights why are you replying to a 7 month old comment telling at me clown cfcbe
@@noxious_nights and I'm a real alarm guy with alarms in real life not just on roblox so got a problem?
@@noxious_nights Its honestly nothing. People have different hobbies and interests. Not everyone on roblox has alarms in real life.
No to loud are they chime strobes?
@@brandonbockman3454these are speakers but I think the chimes might have a similar design
Good lord, that test tone will be bound to ring some eardrums...
Nice 👍
Thanks for viewing!
I have never see those alarms that make those sounds and tested with a magnet
Nice
Do have truestart analyzer testing videos.
Unfortunately not as that is all done during initial commissioning. Not sure how many in our branch have the tool.
@@safetech
Thank you for your relay.
Do you have any simplex MX panel testing infirmations.
Are they the chime strobes?
Speaker strobes.
Hai, This sound is NFPA approve
this is testing purpose only..
That tone made me shit my pants
I noticed some spectralert classics had the red led as well
THEY ARE BASICALLY Commercial smoke alarms
In a sense, but it's still up to smoke, heat, & flame detectors located throughout the building to detect the fire, the alarms just notify building occupants of an emergency.
OMG THAT SCARED ME SO BAD 1:57
That prob sound so annoying on continueous
1:49 man that sounds horrible also that sounds nothing like a true alert
I think it's just a test tone. Those are speakers.
It's not supposed to
What's the self test for
now thats a rare alarm
Gray video
Which* :3
It said 28 seconds ago when I got here...
Volume warning would've been nice lol.
It's a fire alarm.. ain't no volume warning 😂😂😂🤣

Great video!!
