Even though u think it's beautiful, I hate it.
When I was going to school back in the 80s, we had Simplex electromechanical horns with “Fire” lamps instead of strobes. Then as new school buildings were being constructed back in the 90s, those were fitted with System Sensor multi-alerts horns with strobes. All of those old alarms were set by the school district to continuous tone, and those were some really scary sounding alarms, back when I was a kid. As a grown man, I learned to appreciate the harmonious tone effect they give off. They used to scare me to death. These new code-3 buzzers don’t really appeal to me at all. They don’t scare me, they lack harmonization, and lastly, they serve to annoy me rather than scare me. Are you a 2000s - 2010s school going kid???? I’m just curious...... I can understand you if you like these new alarms.
Code 3 is so much better then continuous. In my Elementary School we had simplex 4050 on continuous. Imagine that and 7 year old that didn't know what was going on. Those things scared the living day lights out of me.
I hated the 4050 buzzers. Growing up, I would much rather have had a bell or bleeping sound.
This setup perfectly replicates my Middle School. Simplex 4100U FACP, Simplex TrueAlert 4903-9417 SmartSync horn/strobes, 4099-9001 pull stations and TrueAlarm smoke detectors. The only classrooms that had horn/strobes were the kitchen classrooms. I prefer the 9417s over the 4906-9127s simply because the timing is perfect.
This school has Simplex 4903-9419s according to the '110CD' sticker on the reflector at the beginning of the video.
The strobes go first before the horns, (in some cases) because the panel is trying to sync all of them together.

I have to say that I live in a school campus dorm with these alarms. Two weeks ago, they woke us up for a fire drill at 5:00 in the morning. It scared the living crap out of us! My roommate got real angry and tried to get on his shoes, but didn’t have enough time to do so. LOL!
I would've enlodged a huge complaint to the school administrators if I had to wake up for a stupid fire drill at 5am.

Now there's a familiar sound from my childhood. My Elementary school in the early 00s had these, on code 3 and synced just like these. The anxiety of worrying those loud alarms about to go off at any time, and then the memories of the ear splitting, echoing beeps as they did.

That's the same fear experience I suffered in school only with the loud buzzers, the 4050 alarms. Man, that sound caused me so much anxiety.
I seriously had problems pissing myself several times throughout Elementary, because I was too freaked out to just go to the bathroom down a long walk through the hall. Not to mention, they had automatic flushing toilets that were also very loud. Extremely unpleasant experience for a kid with sensitive ears!
My middle schools fire alarm had that odd delay like what was shown at the beginning. My school also had true alerts, but the panel was a 4020.
My high school has a seperate building with a system identical to this. The main building has late 80s era Simplex strobe panels with speakers on them and unknown ceiling mount speaker strobes (possibly Siemens) in the classrooms, but I have not heard what sound they use nor know what panel it is. (I heard the main building, the panel seems to be something around the lines of 4005 with a custom voice evac.)
These damn things scared the shit out of me when i was a kid at my elementary school. lol but sometimes I was able to prepare myself because they did have that delay where the light would flash before the horn went off.
My elementary school had the true alerts With no warning and the horn and strobe would go off together.

My high school has these alarms and they would scare the shit out of me. No flash warning. However, if you have a class near the main lobby, you could tell they were about to set it off for a drill because you would hear the pull station alarm first.
I’m still afraid of truealerts and my new school has these on continuous with no delay :(. At least I was in the class where it is quietest. 😇 If I was in science, I wouldn’t be here today 😰
They usually flash 4 times before going off and it’s really common and idk why
At 0:11 the strobe on the simplex system starts first and then after that the horn will sound for certain amount of time until the had been reset or since the alarms

I have a question. I noticed that some Truealerts will sound the horns immediately with no delay. But others are set to flash the strobe lights first, which is how it is in my dorm. Why do not all horns have a delay?

The Simplex TrueAlert is one of the loudest electronic fire alarm horn/strobes ever made, alongside the System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance and the Wheelock AS.
Once I heard a Truealert system go off in person and it wasn't even that loud. I'd say slightly louder than the integrity

Does this school have just a strobe in the classrooms? My high school did with the est integrity. I think it was wrong to have a horn strobe in the restrooms.

@@TheFirePanel I find that not good. Horns pierce our ears. I even dislike the horn strobes in the restrooms at my high school. But I do understand horn strobes in music rooms physical education rooms like activity rooms and gymnasiums. As well as tech Ed workshops but not regular classrooms.

I think the strobes activate first because the panel is trying to sync all the horns together. In school, i like to think of it as a warning that my ears are abt to explode. Lmao 😂
Siemens makes a better sound sorry but to me I enjoy listening to a ummt. They have a lower pitch. Our panel doesn’t need to synchronize. When we do fire drills I get to help. When we pull it the panel beeps for a second then the alarms go off on code 3.

From what I've heard That hospitals, Elementary schools and behavioral schools usually have it set up so the strobes will Flash for 30 seconds before the alarm sounds it's to make it less Startling

BeatDropperYT That’s calles voice evac. Most high occupancies are required by code to have them so that way an orderly evacuation is manageable without that much panic. A horn does not only make it annoying, but people can more easily panic over the sound and may not know how to respond appropriately. Giving voice instructions makes it clear that there is a fire and you need to evacuate.

Smart sync pisses me off lowkey bc it can’t keep itself in sync for more than 30 seconds. You can kind of notice how every minute or so most of them have a longer first horn of the three

These alarms sound like a guy yelling BEEP! In a really low voice on high volume. I REALLY hate these alarms and the Wheelock AS and System Sensor Spectrualert Advance (hell on earth)
DON'T even get me started on Wheelock MT and spectralert advance. I heard both systems go off in person,I fainted BOTH TIMES
You know what’s fun? When your school has Advances and one of the alarms has a messed up sensor. You could be sitting there in class and the alarm would randomly go off. It happens at least every 1-2 weeks

In one school I attended with integrities the warning strobe flashed 8 times before the horns sounded. We were ultra prepared because we were given ample time to cover our ears before it went off lol

The point of testing fire alarms is to make sure everything in the system is working. At around 0:44 seconds, you can see a horn/strobe with a dead horn. It's better to find problems during a system test than in an actual emergency.
Dalton Copson reason why he does this is because he works at a company to do fire alarm inspections, so he gets to do these things and gets paid to do this
