Your information is very valuable. I would suggest getting a small mic because sound really makes a difference in how one perceives the quality of your content. Keep going!
I just tried to buy ciclomethicone for a clear body spray and it said that ingredient was proven dangerous so could no longer be used in the formulation 😕 I’m too new to cosmetics to know the difference. This is enlightening!
So glad I found this. I'm a new hair care formulator and this discussion is always an uphill battle indeed. Question: So how did silicones start getting such a bad rep?
I believe it started with people bashing sulfates in haircare, even though there was no scientific reason for that. So after ditching sulfates no products would wash off the silicones of hair, and silicone build up started to be a thing. Thus the reputation.
I have a video on various exfoliants: How to use natural exfoliants in cosmetic formulas: ruclips.net/video/_hvBKJPaPFE/видео.html And you also learn how to make selections based on size in more detail in our Certificate in Advanced Cosmetic Science: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/CertificateinAdvancedCosmeticScience-478/ or Diploma of Personal Care Formulation: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/DiplomaofPersonalCareFormulation-479/
Hi, do silicone-based creams and cosmetics create a barrier that covers the skin and prevents water from fully penetrating the skin under the silicone film? Is it like a waterproof layer? Since “breathable” may mean partially preventing water due to crystals. Also, is it true that silicone stays on the skin indefinitely unless removed with micellar water or coconut oil? And that it can’t be washed off with regular soap and water? Is this true?
No, these things are not true about silicones. Please email us for full formulation, method and supplier details: info@personalcarescience.com.au we provide this free. Happy formulating!

No more than plant oils do - please watch the video again as I explain it in there. Once you wash the hair both silicones and plant oils are easily removed. Silicones are not the enemy!
