I use glycerin on wet skin when I’ve finished showering. In dry Colorado It works better at moisturizing my skin than any lotion, oil or butter I’ve tried over the years. I was afraid of trying glycerin for the longest time because of its potential drying effect. Its worth trying glycerin and see if it works for you.

Glycerin in shampoo is great, cause it gives volume, but in a conditioner/mask it can be frizzy especially for wavy and curly hair if you use it too much. And the trick for glycerin for me in haircare is to mix it with water -> spray hair. Then put your preferred oil (cocounut, shea butter, olive oil, jojoba, sweet almonds - depending on your hair). Leave it for up to 45 minutes - then you go into the shower to wash your hair :)

Been using The Heritage Store brand of rosewater and glycerin over the last few years on my face after my shower; it has totally changed my skin for the better! It’s the only face product I use as skin care, aside from my face wash. It even works great when I have a psoriasis outbreak. It has reduced redness and fine lines, and has definitely plumped up my skin.

I mix 2 teaspoons with a cup of distilled water and a teaspoon of honey and spritz on my hair. My hair is fine, breaks easily, and prone to frizz. I’ve found that this makes my hair softer, more healthy looking (I can’t say if it actually is more healthy), and controls my frizz. I usually agree with you Dr. Dray, but I’m sorry, I can’t this time.

I don't use conditioner at all as my hair is short and though its fine, it is strong, plus, most conditioners just make my hair oily and heavy. All depends on your hair and skin type. My scalp is oily. My hair gets cut often enough for it to be good on the ends. Never have problems and colour my hair at home regularly. Saves me a ton of money.

I’ve always used glycerin based products. Also, my 57-year-old face/body hasn’t seen the sun since I was 18 and I’ve never had a sunburn. I really dislike the sun. I take plenty of Vitamin D, as we get Vitamin D from the sun and need it for strong bones and teeth. Women are prone to Osteoporosis, so that’s another important thing to consider. I love nighttime. I live in Florida and there are so many young girls who’ve already ruined their skin. Cancer’s a big issue in this state as well. I’m happy to say that I’ve never had anything done whatsoever. No Botox or fillers…nothing. Staying out of the sun pays off! My husband jokes and calls me a vampire. He’s an M.D., so that comes in quite handy. SPF clothing is excellent as well. Back to the topic at hand; glycerin is inexpensive and it truly makes my skin and hair shine!

I get what you are saying but I actually really enjoy making my own products. 🤗 I am on 2 prescriptions (tretinion and hydroquinone). Sometimes my skin gets a bit irritated cause I am in the early stages of usage and my glycerine based face mist works better at soothing my skin then any product I have ever purchased. I have never had any issues with rancid ingredients. I like making my own lip balms, face sprays, deodorants, lotions and oil cleansing blends. For my face spray I use about 2 tablespoons of palm glycerine, 2 tablespoons of apricot kernal oil about 3 oz of distilled water and 3 oz of coconut alcohol based witch hazel, about 10 drops of vanilla and that is a heavenly face mist. I make new spray every 2-3 months and keep it out on my counter. When I oil cleanse I use apricot kernal oil, sunflower derrived vitamin e oil and tamanu about 1/3rd of a teaspoon of each. These 2 things make my skin so glowy and the tamunu takes the redness out of my skin.

suffered dry, flaky, burning, itching, hurting, red and swollen skin from sebderm (I guess😬. I'm not really sure but I did some searching and my symptoms match the most with it). the area would then get hyperpigmented.
I tried few moisturisers, cheap ones and although they stopped the dry flaking they burned my skin💀.
the only thing that worked, tada. dove soap, glycerin and vaseline. the cheapest stuffs. First, wash my face with dove soap. then wait for some time and put diluted glycerin in still damp skin. wait for it to be dry (?) then layer vaseline on top. cured it overnight. literally overnightttt. now my skin looks like it never went through anything.
doesn't cure permanently though (ofc) . note to myself, never use any other soap, never use any facewash, never use any moisturiser with fragrance. just stick with dove, glycerin and vaseline. water plays a huge role too. I'm glad I found this cure early on before my skin got worse.

When I went to visit Colorado I skipped this morning step because I didn’t want the moisture to be removed from skin. Additionally, I only wash my hair (natural gray) every 7 to 10 days because I’ve been dry my entire life 😂, but on wash day, after blow drying my hair I rub straight glycerin into my ends of hair. It’s sticky and feels weird for about 30 minutes…but then it feels soft and amazing. I’ve been doing these 2 routines (skin & hair) for about 5 years and the benefits (on me) have been AMAZING. I’m a glycerin lover 😅❤

I am totally confused as to the benefits and dangers of "glycerin". First off...are we talking about "glycerine" like soap or is it a bottle of Vegetable Glycerin(otc)? Are they the same? Two months ago I saw a blog saying that applying "vegetable glycerin" to the face while diluted with a few drops of rosewater would make my skin smoother and improve texture. I used it at the end of my nighttime routine for 1.5 months. I applied it to my arms and neck as well. 1st month my skin looked great! Three weeks ago, I noticed beige/pink spots appearing on my face. Two weeks ago, tiny blisters with white "PUS-FILLED" centers broke out next. Now Bumps. "VEGETABLE GLYCERIN" was the only new thing I've used on my face/arms/neck...so it IS the likely culprit.
Those were the three places I applied the VG. Those "spots" were not melasma nor hyperpigmentation. It was an allergic reaction that I have never experienced before in my life of 61 years. I did not have sensitive skin...maybe now I do? I have been using anti-allergen sheet masks, calming carrier oils, and stopping all actives...trying to return my face to its prior clear condition. It will be a long road ahead. If Dr. Dray or any other professional can clarify about this issue...I would be very grateful for the help. My confidence is pretty shook...right now. My next stop will be a Dermatologist.

Thanks for this video, I've been a stan for glycerin for a few years and can only say good things. I talk about it on my channel ALL THE TIME when doing skincare. It's the less fancy alternative to hyaluronic acid and I buy bottles of the stuff to add to moisturisers, toners and haircare when I don't feel my skin is hydrated enough. I wouldn't use it neat it though. To those in the UK, it's dirt cheap and you can get bottles of the stuff for £2 at Boots if you're not happy with how moisturising your products are, add a bit in. In addition, if you've got natural or thick curly hair, it helps the frizz and dryness when added in to your haircare. Our climate helps since it's always raining or humid in winter 🙂
