I love the ending song of Voltes V! I really hope that they will still use it as the ending song for Voltes V Legacy, maybe in English or Tagalog version. It will really give that vibe.
The reason why Voltes V is popular in our country because most kids wanted to own a Robot toy, we only have 2 free TV channels before, Favorite past time are animes, afternoon was anime time for kids for 90s kids.
Japan Toei animation had permit GMA7 to remake it into live action, reason pinoys loves anime voltes V or five it gives a sparks inspiration and imagination of the kids of late 60’s,70’s, 80’s , 90’s and up-to today of new century, the voltes V anime sparks idea of freedom and revolution during the time of 70’s time of the Marcos era., the anime was removed and canceled from Philippine prime TV , the anime series was not finish, but in 90’s it was back to complete the anime story in cinemas ., GMA7 decided last chapters was made into movie. Basically pinoys waited so long for final chapters to be view. Voltes V also followed by Daimos.
To clarify, it did not "suddenly get popular somehow in the PH these days". It has always been popular here in the PH since like, the 80s and its popularity simply never dropped. It "stayed popular", not "suddenly got popular again". Even with its fame in the 80s, PH television channels still continued to air the anime up til the late 2000s. It's so popular here that it is a song readily available in all our Karaokes. Maybe that's why TOEI decided to do this project with us. Because they can see the love the Filipinos have for this series. Perhaps even more so than the Japanese themselves. Also, there's a reason why Voltes V resonated so much with the Filipino people. I remember my grandpa, who was a mayor during some dark times here in the PH, telling me that Voltes V somehow gave people enjoyment (and even hope some would say) during one of our country's darkest times (years).
I am now 49 years old, and I grew up watching this here in the Philippines. I think it was sometime between my preparatory school age and kindergarten age when I would watch this on TV. I even memorized the song when I was small and, take note, in Japanese language. Hahahha! 😁❤👍Never mind that I didn't understand any word in the theme song's lyrics, but I just love Voltes V. I still love Voltes V. This brings back so many fond childhood memories for me. I'm so excited to watch this!
Back then, we didn't really have many fantasy/superhero shows native to the Philippines. So most of our 80's-90's shows for that genre are either from the US or Japan. I remember growing up with Bioman.
It didn’t just go famous just now but way back in the 80’s. This is a well-loved anime which most of the Filipinos grew up with. Old generations to new generations are so well-attached to this anime. Well, Filipinos have been a fan of anime since the beginning, it completes the childhood days and keeps the old ones young at heart.
Voltus 5, that's how we called it in Indonesia, was a very famous Japanese cartoon back then. And yes, we called it Japanese cartoon because the word 'anime' wasn't popular at the time. It was the first anime I've ever seen and I think Transformers was inspired by this series.
Filipino loved anime in general and that VoltesV probably the greatest of all that even made them remake a realistic movie of it collabing with TOUEI company in Japan I believed.
@Shin Smith Hi! The final trailer has been released! But look up Negi Kitsu's channel here because he put English and Japanese subtitles to it (the official "Mega Trailer" GMA uploaded doesn't have those).
Some of the reasons why Voltes V is still widely popular here in the Philippines is because: - For most Filipinos (myself included) it was our first super robot anime as kids. The show literally had reruns for several years, and was brought back during the 80s (after the show was banned during the Martial Law era) and found a brand new audience, alongside the fans who first watched it during the 70s. Then it was brought back again during the 90s, as well as in the early 2000s. That is over 40 years of reruns and a large generation of fans who grew up watching Voltes V on local air TV here in the Philippines. - The story about family is something that is highly appealing to Filipinos. It made the whole story more relatable to more Filipinos, because we can relate to parents being away from their kids, due to the OFW phenomenon that is still persistent to this day. - We have, in a way, adopted Voltes V as our national super robot. While it is made and produced in Japan, we Filipinos are the ones who kept him relevant and popular for over 40 years and still is popular to this day.
@@diobrando19 Combattler V and Getter Robots, perhaps. Gundam, however, remains popular although mainly the alternate universes and not the original Universal Century series.
That was an excellent explanation brother. The fact that it was so popular during 70’s and 80’s that only 30% of the population that time owns a television set and some kids ( including me ) had to watch it from outside their neighbours windows. Other kids with tv in their house had to fight with their dads over FPJ’s movies to watch😂😂😂
I know in japan combattler V was popular than voltes V but in 70s voltesV was banned before in the philippines and they got another release since 1999 to 2000 with full episode and ending too
T'was very popular in the Phils. in the early 80's. My son grew up with V5 and Transformers. He was crazy about them. I remember sending him toys and robots of V5 and Transformers from Japan where I was working for years in Tokyo. There's a certain charisma about Voltez 5 that I also enjoyed watching w/ my son back in the days. Sending him betamax tape (there was no CD or VCD yet those days) with it made him more crazy😁.
It's not early 80's but late 70's. Late pres Marcos banned it before it finishes it's final episodes. That is why we viewed it again when it was re played it in the 90's with my son. . I even rented in video city it's original vcds of all episodes and bought my son it's audio cassette tape.
Voltez V is very famous here in the Philippines in the 80's. It was so famous that it was banned by the government because its theme revolved around resistance and rebellion and that didn't sit well with a dictatorial regime at that time. Years after the cancellation and martial law era, it was re-aired again by the very same channel, GMA. Imagine our joy when it was re-aired again because finally we can witness how the series will end.
It was the first anime, together with Mazinger Z, to be syndicated in the Philippines. There were earlier anime circulated but not syndicated, like Astro Boy and Gigantor to name but two. Voltes V and Mazinger Z opened up the floodgates for anime viewership in the Philippines, hence, their closeness to the Filipino heart.
I think the reason for the popularity is that fact that it is among the first "cartoon" - anime that was a series. something about the characters unfold every episode. It wasn't simply a day to day routine of the characters. I found it even more interesting when I read the whole story about the heirachy of the Bozanian (one horn, two horns) and how they ended up interacting with earthlings. Looking forward. I'm excited. Hope GMA does justice to this classic (in my book).
"Why is it so popular in the Philippines?", because for majority of the Filipinos at the time, this was our first introduction to Anime! Along, with Mazinger Z and the other "giant robots", the Go Rangers, and Sanrio, this in a way was our first exposure to Japanese culture. Of course many years before that there was the 1960s TV series "The Samurai", Gigantor, Astro Boy (Atomo), but this was by far the big wave of Japanese shows (hence, culture) that was imported by the Philippines in the late 70s/ early 80s. You should see the newest Voltes V(Five) trailer for 2023.
This anime may be old, but it scared the sh!t out of a dictator in the Philippines in the 70s because of the last episodes that show rebellion of the people oppresed by evil rulers and oligarchs. Those last episodes were banned and were just shown only after the dictator had fallen in 1986.
Voltes V(five) is aired in Japan I think 60s or 70s but the Voltes V is aired in the Philippines in 80s and 90s that's why it is sooo popular here in the Philippines.
This anime was aired late 70s in the Philippines. It was not finished due to the coup d'etat in the story that the government of the Philippines under that time feared people would follow. This was in the era were Marcos ruled with martial law. Then it was showed again and again in the 90s and even had a tv special aired for the last few episodes. This is why it was very popular in the Philippines.

its because this is the 1st anime that was aired in our country followed by astroboy and daimos. and my uncle told me that voltes v was the series that was aired after mazinger z ends and then it became popular up to my generation. i was 4 years old back then when i first watched voltes v that was way back 1989 and im sooo into robots and voltes v was my favorite since then it became my habit to watch it every night at 7pm me and my older brother are sooo fanatic of it. that is why voltes v plays a major role in my childhood days because this anime is the main reason why im an anime fan from my childhood up to now.. 😊😊😊
I started to watch Voltes V when I was 4 or 5 because my Dad let me watch it cuz he's a fan of Voltes V and I became a fan too. And fun fact this is my first Anime♡
Rise japan/Rise Philippines 👍👍live action
Voltes Five is all time favorite japanese robot cartoons along with Daimos and Mazinger Z
Anime is way bigger in the Philippines back then.
Bigger Fan based than the source(Japan)
Many Adaptation of Anime like Princess Sarah and many more, and now Voltes V will have a live adaptation here in the Philippines.
The Voltes V is REAL!

There is a new trailer. It has 80 episodes to start airing this Jan 2023
even the villains of this show are actually well written in the anime. Looking for ward to watching more episodes of Voltes V Legacy.
Pati kontrabida sobrang galing nila..pati pag kanta ng Voltez V
for me its amazing! the designs, it can also be use for a video game
some history: voltes v and mazinger z and other classic super robo were popular and then banned by the dictator so it also symbolized freedom against oppression
Hope our little John will join the taping soon because of pandemic and restrictions here in PH.
LET'S VOLT IN🎉
it was aired on the PH on the 80s and replays on the 90s so those generations that grew up with it loved it
you can even hear the song use for political jingles
now those generation is excited to see their childhood show come to life
The Voltes V Legacy Japanese dub is now showing in cinemas in Japan. It started last October 18, 2024. I hope you can watch it.
This series VoLtes v is catered to Filipino audiences so that is why they used the local dialect.
That anime is so popular in ph. Way back 90s
Omg well there are hoponesa of reac in voltes V thank you
I'm really surprised that it's only popular in the Philippines. Next you'll say you never heard of Bioman - which I don't know why shouted "Voltes V" in its intro.
Voltes 5 is probably the most famous anime in the Philippines.
All Filipinos know it even if they are not anime lovers.
No, not all Filipinos know it.
There's actually a filipino anime called Trese. Don't know if you watched it yet but if you haven't, you should definitely do.
On netflix. Hehehe
It's not anime if it's not made by Japanese animators.
@@eatsmylifeYT anime is just animation as far as i know. But they're the one who made the tern anime popular. Copying them is still anime. It's just by Philippines.
@@algladyou No, it's not.
@@eatsmylifeYT disagreeing doesnt mske you right.
Did you know that some of the graphic animator of avengers etc are Filipino. All you need is a good program and time to create realistic cgi.
They really need to compensate fairly.
MY FAVORITE ANIME I LOVE JAPANESE ANIME
