Additional idea - in the multi-action, make it actually start the replay record, wait 10 seconds, then start the replay showing as you have it. Then it is all in one button on your stream deck.
i was thinking the same thing but i dont see and option in streamdeck for and instant replay start or stop so if you did that please explain how cuz im scrathing my brain trying to figure out how
it depends on what you plan to livestream. Let's say you're livestreaming a football game, you want the buffer to start right before the snap so you have only what matters if you were to start the buffer every 10seconds, it would be un watchable

One question: I have the Replay Buffer set to 15 seconds, do I keep the IR Buffer running throughout my stream, then save the replay when something interesting happens in the last 15 seconds, is that how this works? I would think so, because when i'm streaming in-game, if something interesting happens and I don't have the buffer started, then it's gone. @@MichaelFeyrerJr We have a Sling Studio system that allows us to easily do instant replays in slow motion. Unfortunately SlingStudio is no longer in production and not supported. That's why I wanted to know how to do it OBS. Have you been able to do it in slow motion? TIA

MFJ - you're basically the only channel I go now for OBS. It's been great. Question to take this Instant Replay next level....Let's say I use about 5-6 instant replays during my gaming session...Is there a way to combine those quickly, and play them "the highlights" at the end of a session DURING the live stream as well? Hope that makes sense. I play a game that usually has 4-5 replayable plays during the 20 minute session...and I'd love to show all the replays at the end. Thank you!

This would help me reduce from 4 to 2 keys to trigger my replays - just one question, are the replays saved and can be accessed even when the livestream ended, or are they overwritten each time?? It would be helpful to have all the replays in order to make a highlights clip of a sport event.

this is such a great video, so direct and to the point. i have an issue where the replay doesn't refresh to the most recent clip and have no idea how to fix that.
I just thought of a way that would make the stream deck integration of this fully automatic. Have the first command of the multi action to be the hotkey to save the replay buffer, delay it a few seconds, then start with the commands that you had. That way one press would have a moment happen, save it, replay it, and then back to live.. Tho I will say, I just subbed as I found the videos the other day, and I have loved all the OBS tips that you have provided.

i have a question when i clip it shows it saved it but its not automatically changing replays it still the one i selected in the url its not changing to the new clip unless i manually re do the source ?
I was tinkering with this. I tried the replay buffer save button on stream deck but as you said, it only plays the initial one. I’ve come to find out that whenever I actually use the hot key directly through OBS that’s the only way that it actually works.
Instead of the hot key being CTRL+Shift+R, can you just make the stream deck do that? This way you press a button to save it, then press the other to show it?
I've watched this back through and I'm not sure if I'm missing a step. I've loaded the Lua script and connected it to my instant replay media source. It doesn't replace the footage that was there last, I just get my first replay every time I try to make a new replay. Any tips?

Hey Michael, love the videos they helped a ton and give me new ideas so thank you very much. Quick question, I run live streams for my sons hockey games and we use instant replay often. One problem I’ve encountered is being able to save off all the instant replays to show a highlights package during intermission. I’ve circumvented OBS by writing a simple batch script to copy the file to another folder location but I’m wondering if you know how to modify the actual instant replay script so that A copy of the instant replay file can be made so it’s completely automated. I guess another solution would be to call my batch script from inside the instant replay script but thought I would ask if you knew anything about how to do this. Thanks again!
@@FoosballSportsNetwork in the 2 months since my comment I’ve come a ways from this issue but it still isn’t working quite right. Used advanced scene switcher macros to call my bat script which copies the file. Also using directory watcher for a couple of vlc replay sources to some but not perfect results. I’ve just started migrating over from the baked in OBS replay to Exeldro’s “source replay” plug in. Thanks for the response tho, dir watcher has a weird side effect of adding the files added to the directory in the list of replays (in properties) and borking up the replays during our intermission. OBS is sooo finicky.

ISSUE when using the "Replay Buffer Save" button on my Stream Deck. Whenever I click the multi action tab, it is only showing the last clip that I MANUALLY hot-keyed in OBS. The only work around I know is just hotkey in OBS when you want to replay something, then use the Stream Deck Multi-Action Button to do the transition. Good video!

i can use instant replay in SLOBS but in OBS for some reason when i save the video its gets saved but when i switch to the replay scene the video is stuck like a photo and i have to manually search for it and choose it again for it to play, could u plz help me understand whats going on?
the problem is the replay video is selected but its frozen if i manually select it again by opening the folder its unfrozen, what do u think might make the video freeze everytime i save it and i want to replay it
Is there a way (or plug-in) to mark the start of a replay with one key, then the end of a replay with another to just play that segment of time? This is similar to how Wirecast lets you mark your replay in and out. This way you're not limited to a preset time. (We're using Touch Portal with OBS right now)

Hey man, everything works how it's meant to be, but my main issue im having is the the replays are in different length's/durations and so the move animation in obs doesn't look nice at all. When I hit the hotkey to record a replay it will only record 7 seconds of it or less, and then randomly going to 10 or 9 seconds, is this a feature I need to turn off or what?
UPDATE: So I think I fixed it by changing the keyframe interval from 0 to 1, not sure why but it fixed it. If anyone else is having the problem I'm having, I guess just do what I did.

So I did everything exactly as you did but when I press replay and then go to the replay scene it doesn't load the new replay it just has the initial one I selected in the beginning. Any ideas?
I got replay working no problem thanks to your video but was wondering if there is a way set a source that will collect all the replay vid files in the replay folder and then play them back to back at the end of the stream without having to add em ti a playlist?

They save in order. It’s also a great way to clip out highlights.

I have that same issue myself, and I can't find a way to correct it.
Make shure you activated the lua script, and use the save instant replay hotkey to activate the script, the script does choose the latest replay.

Let's say I was instant replaying a football play how do I know when I caught the beginning of it and replay to the end of the play? Is there a hotkey to start recording replay and a hotkey to end recording of a replay
So I did everything exactly as you did but when I press replay and then go to the replay scene it doesn't load the new replay it just has the initial one I selected in the beginning. Any ideas?
yeah, he completely left this part out. The video is misleading. This is basically to show videos at the touch of a button that you have pre-recorded.
It only updates using the hotkey for "Instant Replay".
Will this interfere with the scene clipping plug in I installed already?
So the replay will update everytime you hit the hotkey or do you have to delete and add new scenes everytime you want to do a replay.

I got replay working no problem thanks to your video but was wondering if there is a way set a source that will collect all the replay vid files in the replay folder and then play them back to back at the end of the stream without having to add em ti a playlist?
