Mine went off at 1am last night, & I was sleeping so good, one long singular non stop beep (system malfunction) I thought to myself that doesn't sound like any alarm I've ever heard & wasn't very loud either just annoying. Took it off checked the batteries saw a small amount of crusty shit & assumed they had exploded & leaked into the device. Even though they were recently changed. I wasn't about to put new batteries in & get woken up again in an hour. Took my best guess & went back to sleep but opened the window just in case lol. Good to know my best guess was correct or I wouldn't be writing this.
Same dude. Literally 30 minutes ago my alarm was doing the 4 continuous beeps and a pause. I called the maintenance guy in my location and he checked my home with some sort of device for any gas leaks and it didn't pick anything up. He then replaced the batteries and the beeping stopped. Hopefully there is no leak that he might have missed. If it were me, I would immediately call 911 but my mother and siblings insisted in calling the maintenance guy first.

I thought there was carbon monoxide flowing, so my dad opened the windows and turned on the fans, but then I stumbled upon this video and saw that when there's 2 beeps every 30 seconds, it's at the end of life. I even got my stopwatch and measured for each beep. It was in fact 30 seconds. Now my dad's gonna buy a new alarm tomorrow.
The CO detector in my college dorm was doing the long, continuous beep thing and nobody really cared about what it was. It was in the basement by the furnace, so it wasn't super bothersome. I finally checked it out around 2am before I went to bed and found out where the noise was coming from. Of course I didnt know any better, so I told the dorm supervisor and she called security, who made us all evacuate in the middle of the night. Someone went in to check it and found the batteries were dead and corroded, so we all were allowed back in to go back to bed.
I almost slept through it beeping. Now I have about 5 in my house. I also fainted and had a concussion. I managed to get out of house even though I landed outside on concrete. It’s a very scary experience. I recommend using plug in ones, not battery operated. Plug them in higher level because carbon monoxide is thinner than the air so it starts spreading from ceiling then spreads around the house. I think the levels at my house were 380 when they took me in the ambulance.

Yesterday night I was messing with my fireplace (which unfortunately is a gas fireplace) and it started releasing to much gas or something, and my whole house smelled like PURE CO2 and my stupid alarm didn’t go off. It’ll only turn on if I click the button, but then it’ll go from green to beeping red a couple times then green again, and just shuts off. Only because of the smell I was able to open the back window, and the front door to air it out. It smells much better to my knowledge, but as we all know human noses aren’t necessarily the best. I've got the K-COB-LP2 and it is lousy. Every time I press the test button, it does the 4-beep alarm behavior TWICE to freak out the user, and then stops. Who would design their alarm like that? Any sane person would just make it beep once when the test is pressed so that the user knows it's working.
How about making an alarm that, when it's going off for the 'non-emergency' reason, that it's EASIER to turn OFF??!! So many times mine has gone off for burned toast, smoke from spilled liquid in the oven, and today, an apparently End Of Life device. I tried pressing the button, twisting off the cover.... nothing. I simply cannot get the sound to stop. And there are no batteries to remove as the device was hard-wired by the building owner, who's asleep right now! So...I now have to make a call to the fire dept to come out, all to silence my stupid alarm that's been going off since 630 in the morning.

@@Decayindolly did you purchase both at the same time? Check the back of the units, there is a manufacture date at the back. If its more than 5 to 7 years, most likely it needs a replacement. The gas company came and checked our whole house and there were no signs of carbon monoxide. If you are not sure about the alarm, call them. Its better to be safe.
@@Decayindolly it wont show. It will only make the 2 beeping noise every 15 seconds for battery replacement. If its end of life, the beeping will be every 30 seconds.
I found the beep information on the back of the unit. 2 beeps means replace. Why does it always seem to happen in the night or bedtime. Nearly gave me a heart attack.

I advise against this company. We have the talking variant and when nothing is wrong it constantly shuts itself and goes “fire! feu!” Or “low battery” even though it’s plugged in to power directly. It got so ridiculous it had to be pulled out. All day every day.

Why would you ever have any alarm that malfunctions emit a continuous sound that is as loud when an actual emergency happens? That just sounds like an actual emergency, and it sounds just as unpleasant as when an actual emergency happens. It's just a malfunction and it needs to be fixed, it's no more urgent than the device being at end of life. I know we need these alarms but I shouldn't have to fear the alarm more than the actual carbon monoxide poisoning

Mine was beeping 2x every 15-30 sec and then went to 4 beeps every like 10 sec. I called the apartment manager and he said I should be fine and he'll get me another one in a week. Not waiting that long for something that's required in all units. He's refusing to reimburse me for one I'm getting tomorrow. I'm not staying in the apartment with my kids for the night. Better to be safe than sorry

Just remember carbon monoxide is code 4 so it beeps 4 times every 5 maybe seconds if I’m right

Does bleeping goes off by itself?? Or a person need to press test rest to check carbon monoxide?

@@RJGaming3 I see now my brother was explaining that it would go out by itself. Yesterday my sister try to turn on wood burning stoves. But smokes was coming out we was breathing it for 30mins inside house.
@@RJGaming3 but there was no fire. It was only smokes I'm scared if we are breathing carbon inside the house. But the detector didn't went off crazy tho.
It actually takes two minutes for the green flash not 30 seconds. Video is helpful but misleading.

I got worried that there was carbon monoxide but it was the just the green led chirp!
Mine was beeping 2x every 15-30 sec and then went to 4 beeps every like 10 sec. I called the apartment manager and he said I should be fine and he'll get me another one in a week. Not waiting that long for something that's required in all units. He's refusing to reimburse me for one I'm getting tomorrow. I'm not staying in the apartment with my kids for the night. Better to be safe than sorry
