Imagine having Sour, Guts, and The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (plus many others) under your belt! Dan Nigro deserves sooo much more recognition. Give him that producer of the year Grammy already!
Chappell herself has said that Kaleidoscope is about falling in love with your best friend and being afraid that she will not reciprocate those feelings. Although the love she has for this person may shift from platonic to romantic and/or sexual, at its core, it’s still the same, just like a kaleidoscope.
Honestly, she is one of the newer artists that is genuinely talented in all aspects. Her rise to success definitely has to do a lot more with her debut album, and good luck babe. I see people say she owes Olivia for her success but she opened for Olivia during her sour tour but didn't get any attraction until recently because she finally had music that people were able to connect with. To some degree, her opening for guts did help her but I do think her rise to fame was already starting even prior to the recent tour. It's her persona and upbeat songs that made her hit mainstream. She is authentically herself and doesn't seem like she's playing a “character”. She also is not afraid to stand out and represent queer people while continuing to pay homage to those before her. She deserves all the success. She knows her artistry and what kind of music she wants to make. I will always say that those who take 10+ years to hit mainstream are better than those who have overnight fame because once they hit mainstream their artistry is developed and they know their musical identity.
Imma say this: If there's any modern Gen Z pop Star that has the potential to be this decade's Lady Gaga, it's Chappell Roan imo. Like, her campiness, her theatricality, her VOCALS, stage presence, her embracing her queerness all of that is something that excites me for her future in the industry! 😊
We won’t ever have another Lady Gaga because a big thing that shaped her was the era. She busted through the late 2000s media with crazy antics and outfits. In 2024, it’s all been done and said before.
@@naomi.cannibalhe has been Conan Grays producer for a long time too! I think I heard it’s the reason why Olivia Rodrigo chose him as a producer. That she was a fan of Conan and decided to work with his producer

chappell also performed an unreleased song called “The Subway” at coachella (iirc, could’ve been another show) that she said is going to be released at some point soon!
I've mentioned this before under another Chappell Roan video but I'll say it again - I think a major reason why Chappell has gained so much attention is she bringing back the "over the top" campy/maximalist pop girl aesthetic we saw back in the late 00s-early 2010s (EX: Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry). Besides her aesthetic helping her stick out amongst her peers, I think her popularity also correlates to how many people are growing bored of minimalism, clean girl, etc (especially in the makeup & fashion spaces). Plus she has an extremely recognizable & memorable image/look but it feels authentic to her. We can sense the kind of influences that have helped create who she is both in her image & music. At the same time, I love how detailed these looks are & how they kinda tell a story. For example, I love how her band also wear outfits that connect back to her own look (EX: lady liberty + yellow taxi cabs) & further enhance the look/story. In general, I really enjoy the Chappell's lyricism & storytelling (especially on songs like Good Luck Babe). It's been a long time since we've someone with her kind of star power & I'm excited to see what she does in the future.
@@Kermitt_thee_frog23 Her authenticity is what gravitated me to her!! You can tell she has found her artistry that is specific to her and it doesn’t “mimick” her influences. I do think that has to be due to being in the game for so long. She has already established her “Chappell Roan sound”.
Chappell roan rise is truly one that should go on the pop history books. Like she has 5 songs charting in the hot100(Good luck babe #11, hot to go #38, Red Wine Supernova #46, Pink Pony Club #66, and cusual at #82) which are not only predicted to all rise next week, but also 2 other of her songs are predicted to enter the hot 100 next week which will mean shes going to have 7 songs on the hot 100. Also her album is predicted to enter the top5 in billboard 200 almost a year after release. Chappel roan story is truly amazing, she has been releasing music for 7 years and was dropped from her label but she never gave up and kept following her dreams. Shes just rising in popularity reaching new peaks in streams every single day.
i’m obsessed with her right now and her music. i love that she embraces the more tacky middle america aesthetic but then adds some theatricality and campiness to it. also i like her live performances more than the recorded versions of her songs. i hope she’ll release a live album some day. she’s like a mix of dolly parton, cyndi lauper, and kate bush to me. my fave songs change from week to week but i always come back to red wine supernova, california, picture you, and pink pony club

@@migueskoka not that I give a rat's ass about it but I imagine Chappell is getting more praise because she "leans into it (the campiness)" more with the outfits and appearence (and the music isn't super like what Gaga released back in the day). Meanwhile Ava didn't really have the camp appeal / full popstar persona that she leaned into outside of the music, she just makes Gaga-esque dancepop (and subsequently tried to distance herself from being called "the next Gaga", in her defence I don't think that's a bad thing for her to do at all, nothing wrong with wanting to be recognised for who you are as an artist)
@@migueskoka Ava Max didn't bring anything new to the industry or have her own sound/look that wasn't just a non-risque take on 2010s Dance-Pop, especially from Gaga's catalog.... that's the difference. Cookie cutter pop ≠ actually good NEW Pop aren't the same thing
