I am Puerto Rican and whenever I was tired and exhausted from working so many hours my mother would come over and bring watercress with salt and olive oil. It would always make me feel better. It has bee a while and I forgot so thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I have been following Dr Berg for many years and my body, skin and health has gotten better and better. This is the healthiest I have ever been. Lost 60lbs and if I gain weight I can lose it through Dr. Berg. No more feeling almost defeated like I see the light but not there. Now I see the light and am very very happy. Can you do one on napal.

Ive just recently bought some and so far ive been eating a handful a morning for 3 days now. stuff doesnt taste all that good, but i treat it like a bitter medicine lol
Just yesterday i was talking to my girlfriend about it and suggested baking it like i do with broccoli, with olive oil and salt in the oven.
Hearing from you about pairing it with olive oil and salt makes me sp happy to hear my idea just might work lol

I'm Chinese living in Southeast Asia. Here we boiled it with pork bones as a savoury broth and have it with our main meal. But it is often boiled to death, lol. Not sure if that takes out all the nutrients. For me I add it right at the end of the boil, then turn it off so it still looks green & fresh though cooked thru. Love it!

Dr Berg, I eat lots of wild plants and there are a host of wonderful foods just growing as weeds. For example, Curly Dock is very anti inflammatory and healing for the gut. Another wonderful plant is plantain. Both help with inflammation and have a decent cooling effect on the body, great for summer! Amaranth pretty much grows everywhere too and the whole plant is edible. All of these are easy to ID and don't have many if any dangerous lookalikes.

Thanks, Dr. Berg for being a great on-line information source for health and diet. Over the past 1.5 years your voluminous materials have inspired major diet/lifestyle modifications which have significantly reversed post-retirement weight accumulation (55 lbs) and brought about ‘radical’ (for me) actions such as eliminating added sugars, reducing most carbohydrates (flour, bread, pasta, potatoes etc.), and rejecting manufactured shortenings and processed vegetable oils in favor of better quality fats ie olive/avocado/coconut/real butter/natural lard etc. And implementing two meals a day, no snacks and meals on either end of an eating window of six- to eight hours usually. Thanks for continuing great information like the above. It is much needed education for the nutritionally illiterate masses - but we’re getting better with help like yours!

Thanks to your videos I am on a one meal per day lifestyle, I sleep through the night and am in an overall better condition. I need to add that the foodstyle of the people in France helped a lot too. In general I have noticed that if you get through wintertime without gaining to much weight you will be fine.

Great info thanks 👍 😀 I also heard that from the way it grows (in water!) & i guess because they like it, it can be a magnet for liver-flukes, so gotta be very thorough washing it before eat. Also is it important to try get organic or does it grow easily without much pesticide if the liver flukes stay on it? Or do they nowadays? I always struggled with the bitter taste plus hard to find to buy here, & don't know how big are liver flukes to be visible or not..?
My Mum lovvvvved watercress, bless her. I liked chewing on parsley stalks!

Watercress is a staple vegetable for Chinese cuisine in soup category, you can make soup with watercress, pork chop and black mushrooms. I have yet to try it as salad.

I was waiting for you to make a video on this. This may be one of the top nutrient dense vegetation discovered thus far. A very interesting thing about watercress is the botanical adaptation that it developed as a defense mechanism from insects eating it, it gives off a pungent mustard odor to fend them off. That pungent odor is a poisonous defense against the insects and it becomes more astringent as it gives it off, however to humans it adds more flavor (and nutritional value I think too.)

Dr B: I am 74 yr old active athlete (cycling, weightlifting, hiking, swimming, & kayaking. My forearms have begun to bleed in small blotches or straight lines between my skin layers. It seems to happen not only from contact, but also from stretching the skin. The blood takes a while to be absorbed. Is there a recommendation you can make to eliminate this?

I ve known this about watercress for a long time Eric! Used to buy it in bunches very cheap in UK, now it only comes pricey in a miniscule plastic bag, usually from Spain 😣 Make watercress soup with onion and moullet it til thickens, delicious 😋

Hi Dr Berg! Thanks so much for the data. On the internet (I know fun) it talks about POSSIBLE stomach issues when taking too much watercress and some other negative comments on it...so just in case wanted to ensure all that is covered, maybe a follow up video or something on those/that. :) But will definilty be adding to my diet
    ...YOU ROCK.

All my family and I basically eat for veggies every day is watercress, cucumbers and carrots. I'm glad to hear about the health benefits- but I didn't realise it was cruciferous! I have thyroid nodules, my tsh is within normal range though. Could this be worsening my thyroid? Should I cook it? I have always only eaten it raw...

What does watercress taste like? Does it help if you have cancer? I was diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks ago.
