Vikings has sadly come to an end, but like the question posed in the finale- what exactly is the end? The show might not be making any more episodes, but that doesn’t mean it’s dead (I mean, it’s having its own spinoff show after all) especially if we keep talking about it. To be honest, since it’s ended, that’s all we can do...keep talking about Vikings! So that’s why in this video we are going to take a look at 25 things you might have missed in the show.
We shall be including easter eggs that were sneakily inserted without you probably knowing, interesting pieces of trivia, behind the scenes details as well as shocking secrets from the cast members. It’s going to be a great voyage- are you up for the adventure? If you are, join us on our Screen Rant longship as we take a voyage to behind the scenes and raid them for their precious easter eggs. Seriously though, I will keep doing these weak Viking metaphors if you don’t watch the video. Enjoy!
What did you make of this video? What was your favorite piece of trivia or easter egg? Anything we missed? Let us know in the comments below and make sure to subscribe today for all this and more!

I always thought helga and tovi looked so much alike that makes so much more sense now 😂
They do look alike don't they
I said the same thing lol
me too
They are both beautiful women and strong actresses.
They are both sisters I thought that they looked alike and was seeing double
I couldn't believe how he said travis Fimmel was really biten by the snakes . That's painful man
Travis is an australian farmer. I bet he was familiar with that xD
Yeah he wasn't. Idk why they didnt do their research, the snakes were real but the shots of them biting him werent
@@Gwenny_Black he said he was use to snakes from growing up on a farm so the bites didn't bother him but the snake poop did😂
@@ykwia1 the shots being bitten weren't real, but he was bitten by them, and pooped on. He mentioned it. No biggie, those are pythons and boas and their bites are just flesh wounds.
Really bothered me that they said that no cgi was used. Yes the boas and pythons were real but the shots with bites were obviously cgi, as the snakes biting were venomous.
It's just insane how much work and passion was put in this serie. One of our all time favorites, for sure.
Alexander is absolutely amazing. I went from like to hate to loving Ivar. And Floki omg my absolute favorite character!!!
I hope Ragnar actor got paid at least a million for that snake scene.
Vikings did what Game Of Thrones couldn’t do. Great show from beginning to end!
Trueeeee! I loved GOT but I don't think it can top vikings. It was a 10/10 every season.
Hell yeah! So underrated! I tried FOR YEARS to get my friends on board but they all failed me.
@@starkiller_88 yeah I know what you mean one of my friends showed me a video of Vikings and I'm glad she did cuz I absolutely fell for it.😂
I started watching Vikings because a friend told me it was a cheap GOT wannabe but damn he was wrong. I enjoyed and loved this show. Ragnar just has so many things that we can learn from him.
@@benedictmusenge984 have you watched GoT
Him: “Evar”
Me: “ITS IVARRRR!!”
Its actually pronounced Eevar
@@aleksandervaldal Eevar is the pronounciation for the norse version (Ívarr), but it is more like eyevar for the english variation
all i heard in the show was ivar, not evar
@@heretoannoyu4706 yes because english speaking show
@@sturridh which is great because im English !!!
How did the actor who plays Ragnar ever agreed on being thrown into a pit full of snakes ACTUALLY BITING HIM
regardless of what this dude said a couple of the bites clearly were cgi. The director himself said that the biting was all cgi
He's a farm boy, he eats raw fish, he loves the goats in Kattegat, He skinned a rat onscreen, true man of nature. 💪
@@tylermarshall6298 no It was actual travis actualy told that the bites was not so bad but the poo was bad
@@tristan9881 I know Travis said he was bit, but the director said most of the bites were cgi. you can see him getting bit from a distance, and those shots were nonvenomous bites and real. The close up bites from venomous snakes were clearly fake. i wrote a couple of the bites in my original response.
He’s Australian.
Wow. Knowing Ragnar is really being bitten by the snakes makes that scene one of the best in film imo.
I was bummed out! Ragnar dead! He was the reason I began watching but the rest of the actors carried on very well. Sad to see them go.
He was not bitten by any snakes. The snakes biting him were CGI and definitely are definitely venomous. There are, however, real ball pythons, a couple retics, and some boas. Hope this helps.... they would never use real snakes on an actor with the purpose of him/her getting bit. Thats silly.
@@eddiej165 he didnt get bit, but there were actually real snakes with him
the ending was better then the whole season 8 of game of throne
I haven't had the time to watch Game of Thrones, I think I got to se3.
I did enjoy this project, I think I will pass on GOT after reading yr comment & move on to my next show on my list.
@@imkitti1942 lol I mean it up to you but you should still finish it when you can but you going dislike and hate the last season
The ending was more worse than the Game of Thrones ending 🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@emanuel6893 no the ending was good exept the kattegat ending
Both are disasters
Ziggy didnt "fall" through the ice. She dove in to save Hvitserk and Ube who were the ones to fall through.
Siggy*
Dived*
@@mrjw6701 ... you must be joking
Siggy not ziggy
What is "dived" Mr JW?? To jump in a thread to uncorrectly correct someone is one of the most cringiest someone can do. I mean seriously . Maybe u feel the same way I do n you've been in the hole u crawled into a year ago after ur "dived" comment.
Best show in the world 😭❤️🥺 Wish it didnt have to end.
It's coming back!!!
@@anthonymunoz5016 lol 😅 when
Honestly the effects were incredible. It's one of the only things I've watched that includes clotting and rhe various textures that blood takes on.
The best Easter egg is when Ragnar is walking through the market place and two people are pushing a cart with a cage on it that contains an Australian native bird, a emu
There’s macaws as well. No sure which vikings visited the Amazon tho.
A cameo is a brief appearance. Edge, Maude, and Georgia were not cameos. They all were regulars on the show.
Ridiculous isn't it...next it'll be 'Australian actor Travis fimmel makes a cameo apoearance'
Then he didn't say the actual best cameo at all. Brent Burns
To be honest, it seems to me that no one involved In makings this vid actually saw the show. That would explain thinking they were cameos or stating that Sigi FELL through the ice
@@LA-ps9rs as she was shove diving in , in the video ... lol
Edge was a full blown character on the show
Vikings will go down as one of my favorite shows and def the show with the best soundtrack to ever exist !
I live beside the set for Paris, its about a 20 minute drive and its called Cahir Castle. Fun Fact, it still has English canonballs stuck in the castle walls from the time that Oliver Cromwell genocided Ireland.
Was it? I'd read that they used the river Boyne and slane Castle for Paris.
@@UrEvilAngel91 Pretty sure it was cahir castle, I may be wrong though, I saw the boats in cork for the show though. They were either being assembled there or were just in the area.
Oh... My.. Odin... I've seen this show at least 6 times through and I NEVER noticed that Edge was Kjetill.... Props to Adam Copeland, shows how good his performance is that I couldn't recognize him at all!!!
Greek language was also used in the show . Specifically we can hear Greek words at the trip of Bjorn and Halfdand and in some episodes of season 6
Πες τα ρε....παντού ήταν
They also spoke in arabic as well.
And russian or ukrainian in Kiev
@@domiiinik4320Getting too late here but still. The language was ancient Rus language, which is actually accurate. As a Ukrainian, I was delighted to see so many details pointing on Rus excluding Russian myths and propaganda
For all of you complaining he is not saying the Name Ivar correctly - he does. "E"var is correct, not Aivar like many americans or english speaking people do.
As a Dane, who speaks all skandinavian languages, and even knows old norse (both west and east) dialect. You are so right about that
As an Englishman. You definitely not wrong.
Would have loved to see Odin in the episode Bjorn died. King Egbert was just as good as Batiatus, what a great performence!
Travis Fimmel is a legend. That's crazy that he would get in there with real snakes biting him. Alex Anderson is great too.
I think Travis Fimmel would have been great as Rollo or Floki too but in my heart he will always be Ragnar.
The floki we have now is the perfect floki. Idk but floki is my fave character
@@theunknown3632 Yeah Floki was awesome and the acting was great too. It’s a shame that he got really boring after Helga died though.
He'd be a nice Floki. He's great sense of humor.
@@viniciuslosekann5224 I agree
Travis tried put for Floki, but Hirst preferred him for Ragnar. The 2 people who are Floki and Rollo wanted to be Ragnar but ended up with their roles. Awesome show 🔱
I've actually went back and started over,I'm on s2 ep3 now,and it is still,if not better than the first time
Now I understand why torvi and helga always seemed so similar
Imagine Ragnar really existing, doing amazing things and thousand years later someone saying Ragnar didn't exist, he just represents a sum of some great men together. I would be pissed off if I were Ragnar lolol
I'd be more pissed if I was the son of Ragnar and you keep saying my dad wasn't a real person but that's what I'm mostly famous for....lol
@@michealburns8017 you already know the feeling then ahahaah
@@Catia81 lol
How can he pronounce Hvitserk but not Ivar or Lothbrok?? Maybe have someone who's watched the show make these videos
Can't pronounce Arne either 😂
Or Ivar.... Who is EEvar?
@@JothieChetty its not even like theres an excuse, they say it like 20 times every episode for the last 3 seasons
@@JothieChetty Eye-var is the English pronunciation. His Old Norse name, Ívarr, would indeed have been closer to "Ee-var"...
The way he pronounces Ivar is more accurate than in the show though
can we get a Vikings pitch meeting please.
can we get another 8-2 please ?
they are doing a spin off soon
Absolutely a personal favorite. Seen the whole series, 3 times! 😂
Adam Copeland wasn't a cameo, he had a full blown part and he did it well.
After every episode with him, the first name on the credits was "Guest Starring Adam Copeland", thought they should add him to the full cast after so many episodes, maybe he was meant to be a cameo, but stayed on
It's so obvious these people never watched the show. Evidenced by how mispronounced the names are
Ehh, I did grow up watching Edge"Adam", but I honestly couldn't stand his character. For me, it was mostly how he talked, that threw me off. He has the look tho, but didn't fit in my opinion..
i absolutely hated his character in season 5 & 6
@@bozitrapboy Yep, you were supposed to. That means he acted it well.
I wish they had done a little more with The Saami and the Swedes.
the condensed final 6 or so episodes were amazing!!! yet somehow GOT has recieved more prestige. vikings is just as good as GOT
Edge was a cameo? Dude, the guy was a supporting player for the entirety of S05, the entire S06a and half the S06b, how is that exactly a “cameo”?
not sure how supporting roles from the Hirst sisters are cameos either.. they were both pretty major characters
the first three seasons were pure gold. Lagatha is amazing.
When the ships were being lifted up the cliff, as if their enormous weight was not difficult enough to lift, several times someone was adding another 200 pounds or so by standing on the edge of the ship.
In the paris scene where ragnar is in the coffin the guys that carrying it is the members of the metal band Amon Amarth
You're pronouncing Ivar PROPERLY!!! Thank you! Lagertha pronounced it properly too, once (when Ivar was a young boy). Then it was "eye-var" for the rest of the show.
Once Ragnar was dead all of the betrayal really pissed me off and I kind wanted them all dead. Struggling to finish now.
While I have been a fan of the show since episode 1 it needs to be said that there are many flaws, and as such there are flaws in this video. First, there is ONE account that suggests that the Norse wore eyeliner, the man responsible for the account was a Spanish Muslim names Al-Tartushi who visited the Danish city of Hedeby some time in the 10th century. Eyeliner MAY have been a custom there, but that does not mean Norwegians would have done the same thing or that they would have gobbed it all over half of their faces. Tattoos are another area where we have no physical evidence, and not even a word in their language that we can link to the word tattoo. The idea of Vikings having tattoos comes from the written account of Ibn Fadlan another 10th century traveled, who traveled from Baghdad up to the Rus kingdom somewhere around Kiev. While in Kiev he reportedly witnessed a chieftain’s funeral where he saw men “painted” (according to the translations I’ve read) with images of trees. These marks reportedly went “from fingernails to neck” meaning the face tattoos we see in the show are almost certainly not representative the custom. The Rus (originally Swedish) were also very much integrated into the local population by this point, so they may well have been practicing a custom borrowed from the Slavic people of the area. The costumes are nowhere near accurate, far too much leather and raw pelts draped over the shoulders, also bright colours were a way to show off ones wealth. Like stated the show is not meant to be historical, and it shows.
The effort put in this show was unbelievable
I’m not bothered by creative latitude - I love some “what if” in my entertainment. Vikings didn’t have to be historically correct to be great - GOT didn’t have to follow the books to be amazing. My mind set is Entertain Me …and boy did they !
Something about ragnors speech in the cage got me. It was really good acting. Then into the snakes
It’s amazing how these vikings had a pit filled with snakes from Africa, North America, and South America.
Wasn't it the king of mercia (Britain area?) that had the snake pit?
@@Janellabelle
Yes, you are correct. My point still stands though. ;-)
The costumes are not pretty close at all...
There is simply TOO MUCH LEATHER in the armor
"There's no such thing as too much leather." -Old Viking Proverb
There's nothing even close to viking garb in this show.
And don’t even get me started on why 9th century Saxon soldiers are wearing 16th century burgeonet helmets from Italy during battles, either.
You didn’t mention the cameo by NHL Allstar defence man Brent Burns..
their clothing being historically accurate? Who told you that hahaha? biggest mistake? all the armor... NOTHING is accurate
Great video, thanks for all details
This series was better than game of thrones, bless the creator for this masterstory. Purely genius.
Not historically accurate yet on the history channel. Lol
Not historically accurate but historically Authentic.
So structure of medieval societies, environment and their surroundings are pretty historically accurate. A lot of events also happened and a lot of characters were based on real characters. Now main problem from the historical perspective in this show is its pacing: In 6 seasons it covers more than 200 years history of the Viking Age and it the show it takes maybe 20-30 years. So that is the the biggest pitfall from this perspective, but otherwise this show is very historically authentic.
@@jamesp4132 Unauthentic fight scenes but it’s more exciting that way
I would say it peaks interest into history though. I didn't know too much about vikings or the period until watching the show, and then I was intrigued enough to research more things. For that reason I see why it was placed on the channel.
Historically accurate with the costumes? They would have never have worn that much leather armour haha, it would have been chain mail or literally just clothes
Were none of you there?
I eye rolled at that too man.
1:51 why are they pulling from opposite side?
Forgetting Brent burns also appears too I remember watching that episode and loved it
Travis actually took those snake bites for real... damn, what a boss
Well they made the perfect choice. Loved the show from beginning to the end . The last kingdom is quite good too .
then you will love the books
@@fanert1 my eyes are bad it'll have to be an e book 🤣 cheers man
@@adrianeyre3630 is on ebook, went through them while working
I just finished this show 😅 glad to see its treading
This is absolutely mind blowing
There was no Covid when the siege of Paris was shot...
He didn’t say there was, he said it seems alien because of COVID now. As in that would never happen today.
Wrong. Coronavirus family of viruses was first discovered in like the 50's. Its just new strains every year like the flu
@@AJRitty They’re talking about COVID-19 not Coronavirus in general... obviously...
The one episode they must not have noticed in the background but some of the background fighters were swinging their sword soooooo slow and it made it to the final cut
Excellent review
I just got done with Vikings, the show was great, favorite Character's were Ragnar and Athelstan, their friendship was real and true and how friends should be, accepting and understanding. Travis really got bitten by some snakes. that is suffering for your art truly!! if that happened.
I believe that Kattegat in the series, is actually supposed to be the real Hedeby.
Hedeby is believed to be exactly what Kattegat was in the series - except it was (still is) a city in Denmark.
It's a shame everything "Danish" became Norwegian on the screen, but I really can't blame them. There's no comparing between the flat fields in Denmark and the mountains and fjords of Norway 👍
Today Hedeby (German pronunciation Haithabu) belongs to the Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein in Germany.
Loved watching this show so much
Also the song if I had a heart appears in Sabrina...the one in netflix
Whatever you say, Ragnar broke my heart as much as it did to Floki. Haha!
It's a wonderful series, which i just binge watched this last month. Beautiful scenes with a dark and cold color, well done. But the series is crippled by historical inaccuracies.
fimmel himself said he didnt care about the snakes biting him but he was annoyed by them pooping on him
Skal bros ! attitude and strength is everything !
Very nice video!
I loved this show. I was telling everyone I knew about it. None of them watched when it was airing on History. Now they’re all watching on Prime and gushing. 🙄
Makes me want to watch it. again.
Vikings is best show for me
All hail to king ragnar❤️
Also In Sicilia they speak a dialect that what a little bit understanble by me as Greek , maybe it was Latin or Byzantines or ancient Greek with bad accent😅
The way he says Ivar in this video is killing me 😂
actually there is 5 dead languages: there’s Arabic too, the one they use in the show it’s a really old and ancient form that every arabic cultured person can read but can’t speak (like latin) which is now only used in the Koran
You said Vikings must have look at the future because of Elliot poems.. but what if Elliot looked back at the past and used those poems?
Bro i am getting goosebumps
I renamed my cat...Kat e Cat
😂😂😂😂
I wouldve never guessed that Flokis actor is the son of the actor that played in Chernobyl and Good Will Hunting. Its the beard. He seems older than his father xd
Sorry I missed it. There was not enough publicity in my area for me to realize what was about. Hopefully I get to see it in the future.
Norway was at one point also once part of kattegat In the Viking period and iron age Norway went all the way down to Halland So it could have gone be by Göteborg The town where the kattegat in Vikings was
no one talks about the 3-4 main body guards who were in pretty much all seasons and probs are the most bad ass worriors ti survive for so long
Idk if it’s just me but I feel like Alex Høgh Andersen will be an amazing Anakin Skywalker
One of the best
we need more viking movies with the same actors ,,,,it was a awesum viking series bring back moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Awesome 👏🏼
I always wondered why helgi and torvi looked so much alike. They're actually sisters
Please make spinoffs. Didn't want it to finish.
Great video, I actually re-watched Breaking Bad recently and discovered the Vikings theme tune, blew me away! But for Thor's sake it's Ivar, not Eevar!
Actually, the correct pronunciation would be Ee-var, not I-var. Just saying. ;)
When I did see that seen when ivar strangled freydas I did wonder since it looked very real
Had no idea that Edge was Kjettal. Also had no idea that Torvi and Helga are sisters in real life. 😳
Amazing 😀😄
Wtf,Ragnar actually got bitten by them snakes!!!! Thats just ubelievably crazy and courages of him as an actor, damn!
I need a "Top" for "The Walking Dead" too
You forgot about the Brent Burns cameo! SJ Sharks defender.
in real life bjorn was the son of aslaug
Fun fact Vikings didn’t have any tattoos at all there is one written case where a man meet a Viking from western Russia who he described having art on his arms and face this is the only evidence that tattoos where in Viking culture they themselves never mention it nor is it in any of their legends
I knew Kjetill Flatnose is just too familiar! Its Edge!!
After Ragnar died, it stunk. But the last season sure did redeem it. Amazing.
I was surprised that I did not see a single viking wearing a chain mail
You forgot to mention the youngest Skarsgård brother: Valter Skarsgård as Bård "Faust" Eithun in Lords of Chaos
At least now i know why i kept confusing Helga and Torvi to start with 😂 i thought they had to be sisters in real life as at certain times it wasnt the easiest to tell
