I was there at Shepherds Bush! Family was my first ever gig c.1972 Portsmouth Guildhall. I was 14. My ears were ringing as I left. My next gig? Family at The Mecca Portsmouth a year later. Next gig Jeff Beck 1974 R.I.P. Jeff.
Unfortunately not - the "original" original lineup was John "Charlie" Whitney (guitars), Jim King (Died 2012 - saxophones, vocals, harmonica), Rob Townsend (drums), Ric Grech (Died 1990 - bass, vocals, violin), Roger Chapman (vocals). Rich Grech went on to form Blind Faith with Clapton, Winwood & Baker and Rob Townsend joined Medicine Head and then went on to play in The Blues Band and Manfred Mann plus loads of session work.
Really miffs me how whitehorn laughs at Cregan's legit fill at 00.38, simply not showing respect to a fellow musician. At best, whitehorn is a Generic guitarist, this proves it ..... disgraceful behaviour.

Cheltenham odeon 72 👍😎 once heard and seen never forgotten.... Strange band single played regularly still....
One of the best bands to come out of Britain. Roger Chapman is truly great, still.
Wow this was great! Makes me happy!
Hardworking band this, Chapman seems to have been touring forever. Brilliant..
I don't hear anything even close to this nowadays. 40+ years it is still in my mind, everyday )))
Proper Music,brings back many memories.
What a night that must have been. SOO envious!
Bloody great!
GREAT band. That's Albert Steptoe to the left of Roger Chapman. He lives in Shepherd's Bush with his son Harold.
And Hercules the horse
@@TheGnomeCity and Nicky the Nag
you rotters lol
I'm an American. Family hasn't played in the States since 1972 and Roger Chapman hasn't performed here since 1976. I'm jealous, Jeffers.
Chappo was 70 in 2013, 80 now. Holding on to his, what, third liver transplant?
Opened for Elton John in 72. Man that concert had a contrast of music. Was 14 and can still see Chapman swinging his microphone .
That awesome bass
I was there and sang myself hoarse. Could hardly talk the next day
Geile Zeiten!!
First band i ever saw. 1975. showing my age now :(
Roger Chapman that voice needs to be UpFront! Rememeber me xxx
Geoff Whitehorn, top man!!!
Geoff Whitehorn on guitar I believe!
Great Leicester band
Not sure that Jim King is playing here and Tony Ashton was ling dead but alongside Roger and Poli and drummer Rob is guitarist Jim Cregan :)
Is that Nick Pentlow on Sax. ??
Jim King on "Burlesque!" Who's the other guitarist (besides Charlie)?
Jim Cregan( ex Wings, I think).
No John Wetton?
Who played bass on the 1972 single?
The great John Wetton .
Oops, the camera panned wide left and I saw Tony Ashton.....
Poli should've played electric piano on this as well (not that I'm complaining)......
is this the original lineup

@@musicandthensome276 and Rob played with Kevin Ayers. 👍
As much The Shortlist as Family.
You are showing your age. They broke up in 1973.

I agree, he comes across as very smug.
Why did they bother?
He's lost all the high notes, but God bless him.
