You had one heck of a grandpa made 3 or 4 generations happy with his music including a lot of scooby doo fans but I know how you feel my second cousin was Jim nabors I'm always looking for his songs or vids of him saying shazam or golly because my dad told me when I was little he would say them and start laughing like crazy I was just an infant and when Jimmy was on gomer Pyle or the Andy Griffith show he would say that on there because he knew my dad had me watching and I would just start cackling

Was 12 years old when The Monkees aired on TV. Been enjoying reruns on AXS TV. Brings back some enjoyable, innocent times! Saw Davy on The Teen Idol Tour many years ago with Peter Noone and Bobby Sherman ❤❤❤
He had exactly 60 days left when this interview was held. Yes we never know what the future holds from one day to the next and really should try to value and embrace every minute of every day. Davy seemed to be a good example of a person who enjoyed life and tried to do just that. One of my favorite all-time rock performers. God bless him and may he continue to RIP.
It was such a shock hearing when he passed, especially afterwards when it was reported this arteries were so badly blocked. A little guy with never any real excess weight on him his entire life, he wasn't even afforded the 'warning' heart attack prior. I'm wondering if early heart disease existed in either side of his family.
I was born in 1956. Still remember screaming at the lunch table at my job when a coworker told me Davy had just died. I immediately called my daughter and my cousin. His passing still makes me sad. Loved him!
I met Davy in the summer of '86 when the Monkees were doing a reunion tour. His limo pulled up and the back window rolled down and out came Davy's head and he said "Officer, which way to the stage entrance?" I walked him in and he signed my duty notebook and shook my hand. He was a very kind and fun loving guy.
hospital was liable, he supposedly went to Emergency complaining of chest pains, they merely examined him and released him that same day. He went home and died, they should have kept him overnight at least.

I once played darts in our local with Davy. He lived just a few minutes away and used the local quite regularly. They don't pronounce the T as a T, but put a D in there.

He eventually sang Daydream "believer" instead of "believah," but that's why RUclips is so great. It captures moments in time and we can wash ourselves in the late 60s, and that adorbs Manchester accent.

I always liked and related to Davy Jones because I’m not that tall either and I used to be cute but never as cute as he was! Anyway, I always liked his accent too! I’m not saying he was a Saint or perfect but from all accounts I’ve heard of him he was incredibly kind and sweet and always went the extra mile to help people and do charity work! The Monkees were the soundtrack to my childhood. I'm glad to have seen them a few times in concert in later years. Davy was definitely the charming one, and a great entertainer. RIP
Great interview. Well prepared interviewers with a fantastic attitude, and some wonderful anecdotes from Davy. Somewhat bittersweet, especially when he talked about his plans for his horses in the next year or so. It looks like he had a lot of fun in his life. A shame it couldn't last longer.
I was 11 when I first saw the Monkees in 1966. Instantly crushed on Davy with that British accent. So sad that he was gone first, then Peter, and now Michael. My heart breaks for Micky.
Here we come walking down the street.. Loved Davey and all the band. Raced home for the show after school. Some fun fact: David Bowie's real name was David Jones but he changed it so fan 's could differentiate between the two. Very sorry we lost him. Heavy heart of condolences to all the family and fans. I personally will never forget him as memories of the show are burned into my mind. A really nice kind human who everyone loved. RIP Davey Jones

He was a class act. Another class act David Bowie changed his name because of the popular Davy Jones. That was Bowie's birth name. RIP to the 2 real Davy Jones. Class Acts.
I didn't know that. I heard that David Bowie changed his name from "David Jones" (not "Davy Jones") but I did not know he changed to Tom Jones. I thought Tom Jones was an established singer way before the Monkees or David Jones, like in the early 1960s at least.
His last directive in his documentary was “Never give up on your dreams.” And he had a very serious tone as he walked away looking back at the camera. He passed not long after that.
Davy Jones was and always will be the love of my life. Great to hear he still had his mancunian accent after all those years in the USA. R.i.p beautiful man ❤❤
Davy Jones, Gran persona !!! Loved this man, Davey Jones. I miss him terribly. Its 2020, September and the whole West Coast USA is on fire. It touches my heart that one of his last charity events was for firefighters. There were two David Jones in music. One ended up as Bowie. The other is my true love the Monkee man. I picked the correct David Jones to love forever. RIP my love. The pandemic and the fires are making me so SAD. I need some Monkees memories to sustain me.

Camila Maeda agreed. Death is an illusion anyway. Yes, the physical body dies, but the person never does. We are all eternal. I know that Davy was also with the other Monkees when they had their 50th anniversary tour last year. 😊
Yes, he was a good guy. Completely unpretentious about the Monkees and acknowledging that they borrowed that madcap style from Hard Day's Night. And he made some music a lot of people loved, me included.
I remember when I was a child in the 1980s, I saw reruns of The Monkees. However, I didn't realize at the time that they were reruns, as I thought the show was present-day. well he did a bit .the Beatles he called the beadles peter Fonda is Peder fonda
it was easier for him to keep his own voice..I was so sad to hear of his death
He eventually sang Daydream "believer" instead of "believah," but that's why RUclips is so great. It captures moments in time and we can wash ourselves in the late 60s, and that adorbs Manchester accent.
- Or his beauty.
Sue Sundowner true. At first I thought it was dubbed with a 60’s interview.
Your grandfather was my teenage heartthrob along with thousands other but is voice and sincerity and decency is what came through on stage as a performer. He left you a great legacy best of luck to you and your dreams and talent does run in families.😍
Like so many, I fell for Davy in 1966..and weren’t we the lucky ones!!! What a lovely man. He looks happy here... so grateful for him and all he gave and still does. 💖
What a great guy ... had to look back at this .. refreshing .. we are all lucky that there was a Davy Jones ! Such a shock when the news came of his passing.
He was really a great guy! God bless him and I hope he is in a better place now and his personality will be missed! He was always a charmer and fun! RIP Davy Jones and Peter Tork just passed away! I hope they are together and having a laugh up in Heaven! Wouldn’t
That be great? God bless them both!
I loved Davy Jones. He was such a good singer and so cute. I miss him. R.I.P. Davy 🙏🏻 ❤
The Monkees were the soundtrack to my childhood. I'm glad to have seen them a few times in concert in later years. Davy was definitely the charming one, and a great entertainer. RIP
So very sad...may he rest in peace. I've always loved Davy and the Monkees. Their music brings back great childhood memories.
He was such a cool and genuine guy - thank you so much for posting this!
Bless him , what a lovely guy he was, good job we don`t know what the future holds for us x
I was 11 when I first saw the Monkees in 1966. Instantly crushed on Davy with that British accent. So sad that he was gone first, then Peter, and now Michael. My heart breaks for Micky.
What a nice humble guy. Rest in Peace, Davy Jones.
He was so pretty when he was young, but he maintained his beautiful good looks the older he got.
Just the best time to have grown up. Born in 57. So enjoyed the show
Ditto. 1957
I met him in July '11.He was so tiny!!!But sooooo very sweet!!Still gorgeous!!Miss you lil' Davy
It's Davy. No E
Heart wrenching to watch him. Wish he were still around !
Jeff Lewis:Wish they were all still around, espec Peter.Pete & that computer, hysterical!I replay it when I'm down. And could listen to Shades of Grey,Joanne & For Pete's Sake all day.Sooo funny how that got its name!
L Martinez Q
That story is more legend than fact. Bowie changed his name before anyone knew who Davy Jones the Monkee was.
Really,?
Untrue he changed it due to Davy's popularity with The Monkees.
Beautiful man.. so caring and loving to his fans. Always be my #1 ❤😘😍
His last directive in his documentary was “Never give up on your dreams.” And he had a very serious tone as he walked away looking back at the camera. He passed not long after that.
Such an English gentleman. R.I.P. Chap!!
Davy Jones was and always will be the love of my life. Great to hear he still had his mancunian accent after all those years in the USA.
R.i.p beautiful man ❤❤
What a nice guy! Loved the Monkees from the start! Singing with the angels….❤️
Davy Jones ...... A piece of History That Will Always Bring Beautiful Memories
to your heart and Soul .
Davy Jones looked gorgeous in 2011 for hes age , RIP
God Bless Davy, keep them dancing in heaven!
I hate selfishly thinking only the good dite young look at Randy rhoads
Quite ironic that America's answer to the Beatles has an English lead singer. Top guy - the Monkees was a must watch series when I was young.
He was my favorite! My son got into listening to the Monkees years later. So proud of him😂😊!
i will always remember the good times i had watching you when i was growing up may you rest in paece in gods arms thank you davy jones
Hard to believe he was not going to be around much longer, so much energy.
Davy Jones, Gran persona !!!
What a sweet man and so talented. I wish he were still with us.
I have a soft spot for Davy. Love you Davy and thank you for all those young girl feelings.
RIP. You are missed.
We all miss Davy Thomas Jones even though he is your grandpa most people love him because he's was and always will be a Monkees to his fans I am one of the Monkees biggest fan since I was 12yrs old so I know how you feel right now I miss him too.
I'd never seen this before...Davy was just a regular guy never patting himself on the back and thinking he was just so great like so many other performers....a very likeable and down to earth guy..wish i could have met him in person..I'll forever miss him...R.I.P. Davy
I miss Davy Jones. LOVE that accent he still had.
How i miss you Davy Jones!!! But the most important of you is alive : your happy and beautiful soul, your gentle and sweet heart... and i belive that you are always near us, and close by the side Who loves you cause you know that i love you and i am sure you know this!!! God lights up you more and more!!! ;)
Camila Maeda agreed. Death is an illusion anyway. Yes, the physical body dies, but the person never does. We are all eternal. I know that Davy was also with the other Monkees when they had their 50th anniversary tour last year. 😊
THE WORLD LOVES DAVY JONES....
This interview of Davy Jones is alot fun to watch.
I'm 57. Huge influence to me as a child to want to become a guitar player. The Monkees that is.
I had such a crush on Davy, even as a little girl, it's so funny! I remember thinking how cool the starry-eye effect was on the show, and I wished I could make my eyes twinkle in such a way. :) I was so sad when I heard he passed away and still am! RIP Davy Jones
RIP / VIP Thanks Davy always for inspiring us all and the young musician's and singers of the world....👍👍👍😎😎🙌👌✨✨💖💖💖💖
I was at his last concert! He was great!
Where was it? His second to last was at BB King's in NYC. I was supposed to go but the plans fell through. I remember there was another concert a day or 3 later & then he suddenly passed. I was so sad I missed that show.
... thanks for posting the interview ... I don't understand these ten thumbs down ... probably just mistakes ... great guy ... great loss ...
So sad.... Cherish everyday, hug those you love, forgive those you don't ... Thanks Davy for being you! Miss you
Went to a Monkees concert in Roanoke, VA a long time ago with a high school classmate. His 2 daughters reluctantly went but had a fantastic time. RIP to the 3 who are gone but not forgotten.
A gentleman. A good man. A true talent with natural charisma. Cheers brother.
I met Davy Jones at a Houston Aeros hockey game in the Summit in Houston in the 1990s. He was great to talk with and he showed his wonderful smile throughout our talk.
In 2009 I also got to meet Mickey Dolentz at Cynthia Woods pavilion north of Houston. I was glad to have met two on the Monkees. I always loved their music, their hilarious show and their sense of humor. They were American icons. We need more fun groups like the Monkees today.

Monkees posessed all around fabulous talent - always fun and musically entertaining.
Very gracious in his interview. Im sorry I never saw him with the Monkees. RIP Davy.
Mark Ganter You missed out!! I enjoyed them in the 60's and then in the 80's, and WILL always love this group! Sorry, it is in my DNA!
Did we think we'd be watching him, and have lost him so unexpectedly? No.
Miss you, Davy.
I always loved David Jones and his wonderful attitude. Such a great guy and a terrible loss when he passed. He was a wonderful human being and how could anyone not like him. Rest in peace Davy, you are really missed, along with Peter, and now Mike. You had the attitude and big heart though! 😔
Hes from Manchester in England, where ive lived for over 20 years. Its a great city, but rains a lot, but....not at the moment as i write this July 3rd 2018...its very warm, we are having a heatwave !
justmadeit2
Global Warming? Heatwave in Manchester England? Somethings not right! That’s very strange! The climates changed or is changing because I’m hearing a lot about heatwaves in places that are known for chilly weather. Bizarre!
what a truly great man sadly missed but with his songs he will be with us forever
I went to my first concert in Phoenix, it was a Monkees concert. I'll never forget it.
Bertaboop1955 what year was it in
We Saw The Monkees! At!Steamboat Days! DOWNTOWN Burlington,Iowa! IN 1980s!
Miss you Davy. You will always have a special place in my heart.
Always enjoyed his acting, his interviews & his singing. Still love listening to him on Little Bit Me, Little Bit You. He had cool dance moves too. Rest in Peace Davy .
I was born 1953 - I had a boyfriend at 14 and every Saturday helped him with his paper round but had to be home to watch the monkeys on TV. Loved Davy Jones. So many happy memories from that era. Unfortunately me and my boyfriend didn't last and I learned that he unfortunately passed away about 20 years ago but whenever I hear a monkeys song I always think of him.
I just read this, if this is true and he was your Grandpa, he was such a nice guy .He hugged me and put his head on my chest at a concert. I thought i was going to faint. I saw the monkees live when they were on TV, I was about 9 yrs old. He was so handsome. My heart broke when i heard he passed away.
Davy Jones is still missed July 2020, and will forever be missed...
Great interview. I'm still so sad he's gone.
Rest in Peace Davy, Peter and Mike loved you guys saw the Monkeeys in Australia love you ever since ❤️❤️❤️
