I agree that the interview gave the impression that the Monkees were more intelligent than they were given credit for. For years I fought my family on having my hair long not only because I wanted to but because its a respect for the other part of my ancestry. The Beatles are one of my all time favorites, next to Queen.
This interview is absolutely amazing. Very wise remarks coming from them all, showing lots of intelligence. Love it.
WOW I USED TO LOVE THE MONKEES WHEN I WAS YOUNGER. WOT A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE. I THINK I MIGHT OF BEEN ABOUT 3-4 WHEN IT WAS ON TV.
Chris Maginess - me too! My older sisters had their albums
Wow it only seem like yesterday! I remember coming home from school and watching the Monkees, Happy Days, Looney tunes, and Batman.
I can't believe it! In my single-digit years I watched a few parts of that show on a black and white TV that sounded terrible on a channel we could just barely get with snow all over the picture. Now, here it is in VIVID color, restored to perfection! AMAZING to be able to see it all those years later!
I never noticed how Peter wore his belt till today. 😛😇😁
Detail looks amazing. I'd never been able to see before that the Martians have different-colored stockings!
The 4 Martians outfits were used in that circus episode...and i think that space alien episode with the freaky goggles....
@@barbkhan2323 And I think the bathing caps used by the Jolly Green Giants turn up in the 'Captain Crocodile' episode. Worn by The Monkees as their hit with pies.
@@itiswhatitaintanditaintwha1427 it's they're, not their.
I watched this on Saturdays and loved it. A bunch of cute happy guys... I wanted to be just like them. The Monkeys just had a special something. Seemed Mike always ended the episode with a moral of the story.
I found it fascinating that the interview segment at the end was included in the first season. I would've pictured a subject that grown up to be included in Head
Mike is my favorite member from monkees! Hes great!
I was obsessed with the Monkees as a kid. Had the albums, inherited from my mom and aunt, and the show we in reruns. Just adored them, still do.
#1s
Micky for acting, slapstick, comedy
Mike for song writing and vocals
Pete for compassion
Davy he was there for his looks
Davy also had talent...he could sing
@@brendaamata9233 And dance. He's so good in the "Daddy" number in the movie Head. Anyone who thinks he was just in The Monkees for being cute, well, you're short changing Davy. Yes, he's attractive (in a very safe, boyish way) but there was more.
Davy was actually the first one cast. He was nominated for a Tony for his portrayal of the Artful Dodger on Broadway.
These shows aired 10 years before I was born but they were a staple of my childhood Sunday mornings.
Lol the one guy is Carl Ballantine from McHales's Navy. Geez these shows were on and off the air before I was born but they're better than any current comedies
I just realized that was him. (After watching a lot of McHale's Navy.😍)
Great watching in HD after 40 yrs of low quality, thanks Mate
These guys are the real deal! I love the older music 🎶
We need the blu-ray set re-released!!!
Yes, except individual seasons that are affordable to the average person.
Why is it taking so long to put it on blu-ray?! I have several episodes recorded and it's taking up room on my DVR.
This is my favorite episode this episode is the funniest
Season 1 was the best however season 2 rating went down hill
"Outta site" I like that. That should come back
Out of SIGHT Not Site.
the first time I heard. sweet young thing. thanks
Hello friend 👋 💐
This is genuinely excellent quality in sooo many ways.
This still makes me happier than I can say!!!!
Watch few of Monkees Tv show back 1974-1975 After school. Always love beginning sound tracks. Great song
Carl Ballantine held up the Missing Persons sign and stared at the camera in disbelief...still funny!(lol).
And now there's only Micky on this earth plane, while Davy and Peter are showing Mike the ropes on a higher plane.
I love the sign that says "In case of fire run"
in this episode, Nesmith songs are all featured. Sweet Young Thing was co-written by Nesmith and the famous Carole King/Gerry Goffin team. The late Peter Tork (as of a few days ago before this posting) I found quite funny in this episode. the pace and insanity of the Monkees Tv show still stands as watchable today and without all the garbage of so called highbrow sex humor, fart jokes, and other BS that kids have to grow up with today..
I agree completely...comedy now just isn't comedy. It was also very cool to see the guys talk about real life at the end!
Hate to burst your bubble but the Monkees episodes are full of sex, drug and antiwar content. It's subtle, but intentional. Even their first song 'Last Train To Clarksville' is about going to Vietnam. ...'And I don't know if I'm ever coming home'...one last fuck before going to war.
@@kennethbutler1343 The Monkees aren't the only ones who have songs about sex, drugs, and anti-war you know.
@@melissacooper4282 This is true; I was commenting on a post about the 'squeaky cleanliness' of Monkee songs and pointing out there are quite a few that had darker connotations.
The Nez is da bezzzzt
They did a really great job on this!
How cool this is 7 year's ago. I love the past.
Crazy how I'm watching this while Riots and demonstrations happened last week!
I was thinking the same thing when I was listening to the interview at the end. Thinking this should be shown a lot on TV right now.
DECADES this weekend did a MONKEES marathon
That's the reason for my watching it. I need some innocence.
note the late James Frawley, the actual director of the show, is listed on the building guide. Frawley recently passed away in Jan. 2019.
The director is listed in the building guide, but his name is Richard Nunis and he died 2 weeks before the show aired in 1966.
There were the Greatest Group ,comedy team, laugh smackin players of all !
@19:17 Peter getting his groove ON. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
gosh almighty i really miss the 1960s wish i could go back wartching reruns is the next best to it.
