I think they gave us back stories of each of the characters including how they first met but the artists who played isn't them but overall it was great.
Jasper was kind hearted because he felt remorse towards the newborns, once you read the back stories of the Cullens, the wolves, the Volturi and other characters it really helps you to understand the story better than the books and even the movies.

Why did Jasper's actor win a Razzie? I don't think his acting is exactly Oscar-worthy, but it's on par with or better than the other actors in these movies.
