The next time you want to cut a Christmas tree on Lola's Fram please leave the bottom 4 or 5 branches. By mid June the remaining branches will start growing up pointing to the sky. Choose the strongest, straight shoot and trim off the rest. You now have a new tree growing on old roots. Small tree farms that harvest for December do this every few years. The remaining roots will speed up the growth of the 'new' tree. Some of our trees have twenty year old roots growing a two year old Christmas tree. Just remember to keep the bottom branches when you re-cut the evergreen.

I echo what some other people have said about using overflow water to create a second pool, or better yet, a pond. It looks like you have good clay there, so it shouldn't be too difficult. You don't want to be going in the drinking water pool because that will stir up sediment, which will clog your filters up at the house. Swim in the pond, but not in the water behind the great wall.

I agree. I think it is gross to get into the water you plan on using in your house. It is amazing to me that it has taken them this long to find this water source. Would have been nice if they had found it earlier when they first occupied the land. Love watching Sadie enjoy nature. She is so adorable.

Hola 👋 from New Mexico🌶️🌵....I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin. As kids we once went swimming in the cow tank they drink from which was a very big NO No the whole tank had to be dumped and cleaned. Cows don't drink dirty water. Even if you purify your water, don't water all your animals with water you have swam in. Its a good idea to build a pond below your water source for swimming.. .

A 6’ square of heavy plastic or piece of woven tarp. Add half a bag of dry mix and half the water in the middle. Two strong humans each with a hand on corners. Alternate pulling up on the ‘buritto’ to about waste high. Opposing diagonally, Right up- left up, repeat. You’ll get it. Mixes very fast and tarp can also be the delivery chute. Great core work!

One of the easiest ways to mix concrete is on a plastic sheet. You need like an 8'x8' piece approximately. Dump the concrete out of the bag in the middle add a little water. Two people hold the two corners of the plastic each and mix. Lifting their corners to make the wet parts mix with the dry parts. You'll know when you see it. Add water till perfect. Pour it off the plastic where you need it. Super easy😮

You shouldn’t swim in your drinking water. Regardless of organic anything. Your bodies harbor good bacteria everywhere but when it gets into a different area it’s not good. You need to cover it to prevent bacteria and parasites from getting in your water. I would recommend getting a ceramic filter by Daulton because you are so casual of the capturing of water. Those filters take out everything.

Maybe you could put some big rocks in the bottom of your pool then a layer of gravel and sand to help with filtration. Since you don't have chlorination, or UV sterilization, you need some kind of cover to help keep snakes, frogs, and mosquitos , debris (and people) out of your drinking source. I would also recommend starting water safety teaching with Sadie now. She is so smart and impressionable she will learn it as second nature like kids who live by water. It will not be long before she starts adventuring out and not always be by your side. She might go looking for you someday and go down by the ponds. You would not want her to fall in.

My grandma was so careful about keeping it covered. She has a giant hood off a car dug in on three sides to keep bird poop and disease out and she would scoop it back to dirt and let it refill until it was purely clear.
Crawdads were allowed inside to keep it clean.

Find a way to stabilize the dirt walls surrounding your 'pool'.
Otherwise, they may collapse into the pool.
Also, a 12volt RV pump would let you remove the water
faster than using a small bucket.
You can swim in your pool as we all are drinking reclaimed water

So glad to see you finally set this up. I've been suggesting in comments for a long time about the water power system. Good job. OK Matt your suggestion that I've been making is that you need to put yourself in a rail trolley going down the hill from your house to Rodrigos'. This would allow you to move heavy items up and down the hill very easily. If you had some sort of cart on a rail system. You can attach an electric winch at the top and haul heavy stuff up and down. This would be much safer and easier. Again great job.

To add to what Kayley was saying about SEED; I recently went to a functional Dr. and had a Gut zoomer done and found out I have bacterial overgrowth in my intestines. I have been taking SEED for about 3-4 months and I think it’s also important for people to get a gut zoomer to see what needs to be cleaned as well. A person can be thinking they are doing all the right things, taking a probiotic, eating whole foods, etc etc and if there are root issues they won’t reach their full health potential. Also toxicity in the body (mold, heavy metals and BPA)can be causing a problem. My son had Leukemia and I thought I was doing everything right. He was exposed to round-up and his body could t detox a
quickly enough before the cancer cells multiplied. In America that means mandatory treatment for anyone under 18-chemo, steroids and other nasty poisons into a child body. I feel compelled now to educated people on how a healthy gut, detox and proper diet specific to their body ( not what the internet says ) but by a well trained functional Dr and/or naturopath. I ate smoothies, raw vegetables, and pasture raised non gmo meats and eggs and gave this all to my children. but alas I have learned it’s not enough.

You will meed a UV treatment of the water before the filter, and possibly before a swing pool depending on the temp of the water. so you don't get sick or killed from microbes. Also you want a bigger pipe for a hydro generator to make any decent power. there are plenty of RUclips videos on hydro generators.

You could sell the extra water to the Canal Authority so that they can increase canal traffic…
    Get those ships moving again.

Just ordered some Tropical Punch! Working my way through the holiday pack at the moment. My favorite from you all has been Wonka! I love the wild, tannic, fruity coffees. I have a local roaster that has an amazing anaerobic processed coffee from El Salvador I've been loving too. Keep being awesome, you guys!

You might want to put some kind of small fish in the water to keep the mosquitoes down. Also I wouldn’t swim in your drinking water. Maybe build a second pool below the first one to capture the run off from the first pool

it's about time you guys done this. I would have done it a long time ago. However, I would have put in a big bin at the start where the pump is for clearer water. However, I think an actual basing or pool would be better. No dirt or hardly any in the water. I enjoy finally see it done tho.

Get that water Jordan and Kaylie, get down with your bad selves, hard work yes, but the finish product is priceless dude. Love it. My only negative Jordan is , don't you worry about a mud slide in the future, if it's a underground river like Kaylie said , that would be a problem buddy. Tell me it's ok, not a future problem.

Please be careful to not disturb the ecosystem too much. Not sure what is dependent on that water. Hopefully there is enough for everything. A underground river is next to gold! Good luck you guys!
