The next time you want to cut a Christmas tree on Lola's Fram please leave the bottom 4 or 5 branches. By mid June the remaining branches will start growing up pointing to the sky. Choose the strongest, straight shoot and trim off the rest. You now have a new tree growing on old roots. Small tree farms that harvest for December do this every few years. The remaining roots will speed up the growth of the 'new' tree. Some of our trees have twenty year old roots growing a two year old Christmas tree. Just remember to keep the bottom branches when you re-cut the evergreen.
I echo what some other people have said about using overflow water to create a second pool, or better yet, a pond. It looks like you have good clay there, so it shouldn't be too difficult. You don't want to be going in the drinking water pool because that will stir up sediment, which will clog your filters up at the house. Swim in the pond, but not in the water behind the great wall.
I agree. I think it is gross to get into the water you plan on using in your house. It is amazing to me that it has taken them this long to find this water source. Would have been nice if they had found it earlier when they first occupied the land. Love watching Sadie enjoy nature. She is so adorable.
I think they should also line the dirt walls of the cistern with rocks and remove the majority of the vegetation from the area to cut down on organic matter being introduced into the drinking water.
Hola 👋 from New Mexico🌶️🌵....I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin. As kids we once went swimming in the cow tank they drink from which was a very big NO No the whole tank had to be dumped and cleaned. Cows don't drink dirty water. Even if you purify your water, don't water all your animals with water you have swam in. Its a good idea to build a pond below your water source for swimming.. .
You should build a natural spring pool from the overflow as a second capture to keep your first pool as "clean" as possible. There are some awesome ones on pintrest.
A few fish would make that mosquito free. I also agree with the other person that said make a second pool for swimming and keep the drinking water as clean as possible.
You have what we call here in Nicaragua an "ojo de agua" (eye of water). What you are calling the "great wall" is exactly what we do to make the ojo serviceable. Congratulations! This is a major step forward for you guys. Not only that but the ojo de agua significantly increases the value of your property.
This suggestion might be useful on another project. A 6’ square of heavy plastic or piece of woven tarp. Add half a bag of dry mix and half the water in the middle. Two strong humans each with a hand on corners. Alternate pulling up on the ‘buritto’ to about waste high. Opposing diagonally, Right up- left up, repeat. You’ll get it. Mixes very fast and tarp can also be the delivery chute. Great core work!
I would seriously consider putting gravel and sand in the bottom of the pool to help keep the sediment down and help keep the water cleaner. I would also have a separate pool for soaking in so that the drinking water doesn't get contaminated from body waste. Otherwise, congratulations on your new water supply!
Hopefully the frogs will find the water fast to feast on the mozzies. Would it be possible to build a pool beneath the wall? This is so exciting: such a game changer!
If you can have an overflow to the wall then you can make another pool that is for swimming in down below the drinking, cooking, and showering. Use it for gray water usages. ( flushing the toilets, water in the garden, etc. ) You know what you need there on the farm better than all of us because you live there.
One of the easiest ways to mix concrete is on a plastic sheet. You need like an 8'x8' piece approximately. Dump the concrete out of the bag in the middle add a little water. Two people hold the two corners of the plastic each and mix. Lifting their corners to make the wet parts mix with the dry parts. You'll know when you see it. Add water till perfect. Pour it off the plastic where you need it. Super easy😮
I am so glad you were able to spend time with your friend Trent & Allie back in the states a few months ago. Who knew Allie's Mom would leave us so soon. I know they really appreciated your love & support! Condolences to all that knew her beautiful Mom!
I like my coffee to taste like coffee. Don't want fruits, coco, etc. Just nice cup of coffee. I don't need cream, sugar or floating flower designs just coffee. Absolutely awesome Jordan & Kaylee . With Rodrigo , Umberto and Roberto building the great wall of Panama , a masterpiece of the mind. Great to see everyone back on Lola's farm and thriving.
I hope not to be too much of a nag, but I hope that you make sure that the water flows in the same creek bed where it was travelling previously. You don't want to either deprive someone of their water source farther down the creek or cause the water to flood an area that it didn't flow into before. I am happy that you have a way to source all the water you will need!
❤Lola's Farm is self sustainable in every way!! How exciting!! Plenty for laundry, showers, tub soaks, animals, green house, garden and trees!! I'm so very happy for Lola's Farm!!🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
That geisha you offered was ... Years and years ago I went to wedding and after dinner, the hotel where the reception was held offered coffee so I had a cup -- I 'd never tasted a coffee so delicious before ... til your geisha. Been searching nearly 50 years! Thank you!!😊
Hi Jordan, I'm really worried about your dam wall collapsing. You needed to curve the wall so the water pressure would push against the embankments. There is nothing holding the bricks together but a little morter. When you get to 4 ft of water, look out!
See if you can legally import some dragon flys from the us or if they are native somewhere in panama. Plant them in your spring area and cut the brush back away from the spring. The mature dragonflies are very frisky and will multiply quickly and decimate the mosquitos around a small pond the first year after they are established.
You shouldn’t swim in your drinking water. Regardless of organic anything. Your bodies harbor good bacteria everywhere but when it gets into a different area it’s not good. You need to cover it to prevent bacteria and parasites from getting in your water. I would recommend getting a ceramic filter by Daulton because you are so casual of the capturing of water. Those filters take out everything.
You guys are funny, "the great wall of Panama" you guys are too much.😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣Hugs and kisses to Sadie 🤗😍😘 so glad Rodrigo and Freddie is back at the farm safe. 🙏Stay safe!
Great invention of the Wall of Panama...I am happy for you all! Hopefully, the Panamanian Government doesn't have laws against this! Love your videos 😊
Maybe you could put some big rocks in the bottom of your pool then a layer of gravel and sand to help with filtration. Since you don't have chlorination, or UV sterilization, you need some kind of cover to help keep snakes, frogs, and mosquitos , debris (and people) out of your drinking source. I would also recommend starting water safety teaching with Sadie now. She is so smart and impressionable she will learn it as second nature like kids who live by water. It will not be long before she starts adventuring out and not always be by your side. She might go looking for you someday and go down by the ponds. You would not want her to fall in.
If you have so much ground level water, why don't you just dig a well?? Get a big roll of 24'x50' heavy duty black plastic and build a another dam for a swimming pool BELOW the concrete, drinking water dam....Who in their right mind wants to drink the water that people are swimming/bathing in?? Makes no sense what-so-ever!!
Time to setup the game camera to see what comes to drink at night! Maybe some frogs for the mosquitos? Hang up fake dragonflies? Can wait to see what it turns into. You could always haul gravel sized river rock down and make the bottom less sticky for Sadie. Love you guys! Can't wait to see it all!
What you have in the property is what we called "ojo de agua". My grandparents had several in their land. We would go take baths during the dry season. We use it for everything. But I would recommend you to visit some of the most beautiful swimming holes in the area. Like the one in Gualaca❤
Please consider making a second wall below the first one for your swimming pond. You don't want to contaminate the drinking water by swimming in it. And less sediment being stirred up to get into and cliff up filters
So so happy for you! That has to be a great feeling ... knowing that water is plentiful. Most never consider running out of water ... we just take it for granted ... makes me think deeply about taking for granted our basic needs. Thank you in making me think! Love this family 💜
You really moved along from replacing the ram pump (yup, most of that water was used to push the water uphill) to practically becoming your own water utility provider. Test the water frequently for all kinds of micro critters. Your original impoundment was not exposed very long before it was pushed up the hill to tanks. The dam water (??? Blessed Water????) will need watching. Huge congratulations on the ingenuity and fortitude in a homesteading-like environment. You have all pulled off a huge variety of amazing projects (miracles). Congratulations to all.
Look out for an IBC water container or two. Filter some water into them and store it for a not-rainy day. Cover with a fine mesh to stop insects getting in use swimming pool chemicals to sanitise and kill insects and bio.

Have you seen videos about digging a web with a sledge hamner? Water from underground up a pipe and pump not touched by human animals or air. Idk about swimming there but I know we had a hole for our drinking water when I was a kid. My grandma was so careful about keeping it covered. She has a giant hood off a car dug in on three sides to keep bird poop and disease out and she would scoop it back to dirt and let it refill until it was purely clear. Crawdads were allowed inside to keep it clean. At some point she said it became contaminated from a dead animal and started a different well Water born disease and ones from butts are dangerous.
Find a way to stabilize the dirt walls surrounding your 'pool'. Otherwise, they may collapse into the pool. Also, a 12volt RV pump would let you remove the water faster than using a small bucket. You can swim in your pool as we all are drinking reclaimed water which has had everything and the kitchen sink in it previously, including human and animal excrement. After it's filtered, no worries. Except for microplastics.
I don't know about soaking in it if it's for drinking and cooking and showering 😮 But it's definitely a brilliant concept. What you could do is put a trough in front of the wall and fill it for soaking and cooling off. A mini pool for Sadie, you could put another thingy that opens and closes to drain it. Just a thought. Love you guys every single one of you ❤️ 💙 laters . 👋
So glad to see you finally set this up. I've been suggesting in comments for a long time about the water power system. Good job. OK Matt your suggestion that I've been making is that you need to put yourself in a rail trolley going down the hill from your house to Rodrigos'. This would allow you to move heavy items up and down the hill very easily. If you had some sort of cart on a rail system. You can attach an electric winch at the top and haul heavy stuff up and down. This would be much safer and easier. Again great job.
If you go look at Michygos(?) on RUclips she uses a rope and pulleys to lower her building materials to her build site down a steep incline. This way she didn't have to build a road bed in heavily wooded terrain.
Even with the footing, that wall is not going to be strong enough to hold the water when full. I am going to suggest that add rocks and dirt in front of the wall- leaving just enough room for the outflow pipes.
To add to what Kayley was saying about SEED; I recently went to a functional Dr. and had a Gut zoomer done and found out I have bacterial overgrowth in my intestines. I have been taking SEED for about 3-4 months and I think it’s also important for people to get a gut zoomer to see what needs to be cleaned as well. A person can be thinking they are doing all the right things, taking a probiotic, eating whole foods, etc etc and if there are root issues they won’t reach their full health potential. Also toxicity in the body (mold, heavy metals and BPA)can be causing a problem. My son had Leukemia and I thought I was doing everything right. He was exposed to round-up and his body could t detox a quickly enough before the cancer cells multiplied. In America that means mandatory treatment for anyone under 18-chemo, steroids and other nasty poisons into a child body. I feel compelled now to educated people on how a healthy gut, detox and proper diet specific to their body ( not what the internet says ) but by a well trained functional Dr and/or naturopath. I ate smoothies, raw vegetables, and pasture raised non gmo meats and eggs and gave this all to my children. but alas I have learned it’s not enough.
You will meed a UV treatment of the water before the filter, and possibly before a swing pool depending on the temp of the water. so you don't get sick or killed from microbes. Also you want a bigger pipe for a hydro generator to make any decent power. there are plenty of RUclips videos on hydro generators.
Hi guys. I don't know if you've tried this but an easier way to mix your concrete/cement is to use a 3 meter square tarp. It takes 2 people. Put your dry mix in the middle add your water then each person holds 2 corners of the tarp. Then just take it in turns to lift and roll the mix back and forth until mixed. Anyway thanks for the vlogs. Warren & Lorraine Keighley Uk.
Just ordered some Tropical Punch! Working my way through the holiday pack at the moment. My favorite from you all has been Wonka! I love the wild, tannic, fruity coffees. I have a local roaster that has an amazing anaerobic processed coffee from El Salvador I've been loving too. Keep being awesome, you guys!
Hey Jordan$Kaley y’all need a small tractor with a bucket, that would really help Lola’s Farm would make caring and moving stuff around a whole lot easier Love your videos guys yall are doing a great job!
You might want to put some kind of small fish in the water to keep the mosquitoes down. Also I wouldn’t swim in your drinking water. Maybe build a second pool below the first one to capture the run off from the first pool
it's about time you guys done this. I would have done it a long time ago. However, I would have put in a big bin at the start where the pump is for clearer water. However, I think an actual basing or pool would be better. No dirt or hardly any in the water. I enjoy finally see it done tho.
Loved watching “Little Baker Girl!” That youngin is in her element! Her singing is so precious! Congratulations on your pool of water, what a fantastic gift. Blessings, CarrieJo/NC hugs ❤❤❤
Get that water Jordan and Kaylie, get down with your bad selves, hard work yes, but the finish product is priceless dude. Love it. My only negative Jordan is , don't you worry about a mud slide in the future, if it's a underground river like Kaylie said , that would be a problem buddy. Tell me it's ok, not a future problem.
Please be careful to not disturb the ecosystem too much. Not sure what is dependent on that water. Hopefully there is enough for everything. A underground river is next to gold! Good luck you guys!
Please show fun stuff that you can do in Panama other than construction work in your farm .. although i enjoy it immensely...a change that Panama can be fun is a bonus! ❤❤
Y’all Sadie will be building her own house before shes an adult watching her parents build Lola’s farm is the best school ever. What a lucky kid. Amazing how far it has come from the beginning. Great accomplishment. I love y’all thanks for sharing the journey.
If you cover the whole bottom in stone, it'll help mitigate the cloudiness in the water.
Perhaps you could plant citronella plants or something similar around your water hole to help with the mosquitoes

At some point she said it became contaminated from a dead animal and started a different well
Water born disease and ones from butts are dangerous.
No farm is complete without a swim hole!

Find a way to stabilize the dirt walls surrounding your 'pool'.
Otherwise, they may collapse into the pool.
Also, a 12volt RV pump would let you remove the water
faster than using a small bucket.
You can swim in your pool as we all are drinking reclaimed water
which has had everything and the kitchen sink in it previously,
including human and animal excrement.
The one difference is these guys know how to weld. If they could use a winch with a pulley system they could take some really heavy loads.
He was exposed to round-up and his body could t detox a
quickly enough before the cancer cells multiplied.
Water is amazing. I remember building dams all the time as a kid at our local beach. You really can make it do just about anything!
10:09 i HHAATTEEEEE coffee but I love skittles so that could be a good thing.

So happy you are all home together again . Love from a very cold Ireland, waiting on possible snow.
Sade cooking while singing is the best part!
Incredible how resourceful you guys are. Bravo🎉😊😊😊😊
You could sell the extra water to the Canal Authority so that they can increase canal traffic…
Get those ships moving again.
Sadie is one happy kid!!! What a joy to see.

That is so great what your doing just to get that water on the land great job 👍
Just keep swimming 🏊♀️ swimming 🏊 y’all adventure is Contagious🩵
You might want to put some kind of small fish in the water to keep the mosquitoes down. Also I wouldn’t swim in your drinking water. Maybe build a second pool below the first one to capture the run off from the first pool
Wow what a life u all live love it u all r the most greatest people wow Sadie is so blessed ❤❤❤
Jordan you crack me up ….you said that these two coffees are my favourite of the year…hello 15 days into the year lol
it's about time you guys done this.
Great project. Make sure you make a way out for the dogs or animals if they fall or jump in ❤
Get that water Jordan and Kaylie, get down with your bad selves, hard work yes, but the finish product is priceless dude.
I just adore seeing Sadie, my beautiful princess 👸 ❤❤❤❤❤
How can you swim in the water that you will drink with all your body fluids? Just weird.
Good job Jordan 🎉
I just ordered Tropical Blend. Looking forward to trying it.
