This is great. I just traded in my beloved 7D and picked up a 7D Mk II. Although I'm reasonably familiar with the controls, it's always helpful to watch good tutorials like this.
Hi, I still come back to these tutorials for bits and tips just to refresh my memory when I need to. Thanks for making these videos for US that have purchased the amazing Canon 7D MkII. Cheers Teddy
i watched this video atleast 4 times.. great work Colin.. could you help me understand if there is a function on the camera that takes pictures on 16:9 format instead of the 3:2..? if you understand what im saying..
Hi, when you press the "top right hank key" your screen displays the "AF point selections". Mine shows nothing. Is there a setting I have to initiate to be able to display the "AF point selections" on the rear screen as in your video, commencing at 10:36. Thanks for your time, the video is great.
How to QUICKLY switch from 5 point AF focus array for BIF, to SPOT focusing for when the bird lands in a tree and needs to be isolated from branches? Thanks!
Hi, I can't access my focus selection points on the LCD on my 7dmkii, not sure if I've changed something in settings.... can see them through eyepiece in red but function button assigned for LCD has stopped working. Any advice to fix this would be much appreciated. Susan.
Can you please give us a comprehensive overview of "7d mk ii, Register/recall shooting functions" and how to set it - The manual is poorly written, Thanks!
Hi canon I wand purchase 7dmark2 is good quality for weddings and please inform me wich lens is giving me sharp pictures I wand purchase wide angel and tele zoom . Thanks for video
Canon 10-20mm is an excellent men we for ultra wide to wide angle=(16mm-32mm) with crop factor figured in. Canon18-135mm nano lens is the sharpest 28-135 range Canon makes. And it is a lens that would be considered a all in one lens with range from ultra wide to telephoto. There are however other choices like a portrait lens in the fixed focal length of about 100 mm 55 -65 focal length crop factor included. Canon makes several 50 mm lenses with apertures ranging from 1.1,1.4,1.8 depending on your budget. They make macro lenses 50mm - 65mm that are very sharp plus these lenses could be used for close ups of rings ,flowers and the like. You can pick up all these lenses used and save money. B & H, Adorama and Roberts Camera used photo pro in idianapolis In. Has the best warranty six months. I purchase 90%of my used gear thru Used Photo Pro. Also when buying your speed light get the Canon 600 ex rt (first or second version) or 430 ex rt iii, they both are radio triggered and the 430 ex rt iii can even be set as the master over the 600 ex rt. They even carry these speed lights used at times.
At 600mm everything is magnified 10x on full frame so fast shutter speed and steady tripod is a must also turn off image stabilation. Atmosperic haze can also blur images as ever thing is magnified so images at far distances can be affexted by pollen , heat .....
I agree with what previous poster said. If shooting hand held, which I have done often, you must develop the correct skills in properly holding and shooting with a lens of this size. Just takes practice. Use image stabilization hand held, turn it off if using tripod.

Apart from the lense issue the 7d mkii is not a very sharp camera as it seems to have a very aggressive AA filter.
Some lenses suffer from diffraction at F22. 😉
Lol,that spinner
well worth spending 25 munites.
Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
