It will come as no surprise that the world record for longest hair on a guinea pig coat is the 20 inches on a Peruvian. Back up, Rapunzel. They are Native to South America and specifically, they are thought to originate from countries such as Bolivia, Argentina and, of course, Peru hence, Peruvian guinea pig. the Peruvian can grow to be a rather large guinea pig, usually larger than any other breed. But despite their bigger size, they have an unusually small head compared to other breeds like the American. The most common colors seen in this breed include white, dark brown, light brown, and even black. We have seen grey colored coats, but they are not very common. Cool, yes. But pretty rare.

I have a Peruvian piggy and she is a spit fire but loved and spoiled. All of the pigs are so cute but they aren't all Peruvian. Some of them are shelties.
