Tim Horan - The Linebreaker

- Tim Horan was quite simply, the greatest inside centre that ever played the game. He had a magnificent step off both feet and had electrifying pace that could cut opposition defenses to shreds.
He won two Rugby World Cups with Australia and in 1999 he was named player of the tournament. Just think of his sublime performance against the Springboks while struggling with illness... What a player...
Thanks for watching and enjoy!
Meeting the ball at pace! Don’t see enough of that these days..
That Australian back line was better than the All Black's. Loved the smooth combination of Horan and Little.
The lateral quickness combined with hands made of glue! What an athlete!
Met Tim in a bar one evening after a rugby league match in London (played union in the winter and league in the summer during my late 20’s). We had just went n an amateur title match and were all hammered from celebrating and happened to end up in the same place. Spent time playing racing games side by side on some PlayStations and then did the classic “do you mind taking a photo” and handed him the camera to take a photo with some of my teammates. He got the joke, took some cool pics and then we all got a few with him. Totally cool guy and an awesome player and an honour to have met him in person.
Great story!
Under 21 touring Tonga he was stand out .
It is Dutch.
Phew, this guy was good. My fave player of all time and I'm a Kiwi.
I call BS. Kiwi's fave player being an Aussie, er no.
@Kenny Nolan These a just some of the highlights you flog! He was world cup player of the tournament 1999
What a great Rugby player he was. Looks like his solid grounding in Rugby League as a young kid paid off (along with Jason Little too).
Amazing era of Wallabies rugby...Tim...one of my all time favorites....credit to Jason Little for his runs to set things up....plus Campo.....wow...was he a winger, full back, centre....
one of the greatest of his time for sure! great stuff as always
Timmy was my heros at high school time, amazing linebreakers. I leant from his plays very much,
Tim Horan #12 All Times favorite.
Tim Horan, super centre. I just can't understand why there is not many (if more than 2 brief) videos on RUclips about his centre partner Jason Little. An equally skilful centre, but also an important cog in a potent Australia side at the time (90's).
Agreed Little was a great 13 too.
Agreed, I grew up playing grammar school rugby when I moved to Sydney in the early 90's. Horan went to Knox Grammar if memory serves, a formidable school everyone hated to play, next to St Josephs & Shore. I'm an ex-Trinity Grammar player myself.
Also an astute and skilful playmaker as well as an intelligent and tough defender. Probably my favourite player ever
Him and Mortlock are my two favourite players in history. I even sold Horan a newspaper once at Waratah Stadium in Concord.
Timmy also played one of the greatest individual games ever in that RWC semi in 99.
Tim Horan made a hamburger for me at Sts Peter and Paul primary school fete, Bulimba, Australia.
ABs hard but man, i miss seeing that slick Australian style. Just slick.
Kinda lost touch with my rugby roots over the past few years great seeing these vids! suscribed
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoy these videos
Real Rugby you reckon you could do all time xv's for Aus, NZ and SA. Just pick the best 15 from all time for these countries? I wanna learn more about the best players ever but don't know much about the 90's
@@myd0ugie That's a great idea. Look, ultimately it will be my opinion, but it would be fun to do those videos
Real Rugby yeah obviously your opinion, I wanna see who you got for the AB backline And Joots or Fourie du Perez? I look forward to it if you do go through with it!
Holy sheeee that Aussie side in 99 was lethal!
Narrowly edges out Bunce for my GOAT #12. Although neither had a weakness, Tim's offensive brilliance slightly outshines Frank's defensive brutality. Great vid!!
Cosmos Daze, Bunce was 13, not 12.
Nonu surpassed both.
@@rogerpattube lol no way
Great vid. Thanks for uploading.
Just a pleasure! I'm glad you enjoyed it
Thank you I have been looking for a tribute of him for so long
Damn they used to crush in the later 90's. Well-oiled machine. Gregan & Eales's immortals.
The best second five ever i reckon
Little and Horan what a combo
Horan and Sella would be my perfect centre partnership. Both spent most of their careers at 12 which gave them the creative vision as the second play-maker and great distribution plus the footwork to run in traffic but both also had great pace. Horan was the better kicker so he'd be the 12 with Sella the better tackler at 13.
Sella was a 13. Horan was a 12.
Sella spent most of his career at 13
As a Kiwi he was definitely one best centres ever.
I don't like being beaten for 20
Years , by the All blacks but make it easier is
You Kiwi are good sports 👍
Cheers Bro
Him and little were the best centre pairing in the world during their time.
When aussie were the best in the world at rugby i miss these days , campesie was so fast one of the best wingers of all time
This vid should be called *Campese* the line breaker - Horan the *support player*
Campo is a legend yep
Yeah - I just watched the Campese package and saw the best of Tim Horan (eg: the try he set up for Campo, length of the field in the South African mud 1992) and now I come here to see the best of Campo.
campo and horan would have to be starters in all time world xv for me
Best wallaby number 12 of all Time.
Australian rugby fans watching this must relate to West Indian cricket fans watching footage of their lost golden era…
Wow, what a pass from Campo at around 6:10.
Not just there, but in heaps of actions prior to Horan's finishing!
This Tim Horan tribute is doubling up as a David Campese tribute. Saw him in 95 and didn’t understand the hype. The guy was good….
Horan's greatest run and general play was setting up Campese's 50th international try against Sth Africa in the mud 1994. Horan's blistering pace, chip n chase, commitment in the tackle, then awareness to get to his feet retrieve the ball and then unselfishly pass on to Campo, showed all of Horan's talent and team attitude.
See it here: ruclips.net/video/wwpB1sqr13U/видео.html at 8.55.
This was a Campese highlight reel.
The legend 🤙
Still the best Centre to play the game
Class operator and tough as teak!
Yes, he was a very classy player. Admire his talent but he also played the game as a gentleman. I saw John Eales a number of times, have you done a video of him yet? You know you have to call it "Nobody" right?
Martin Coetzee We have a pipeline of videos we are working on. Its always tricky to do a video of a forward as we focus mostly on tries. We'll add Eales to the list and get to it some time
7:39 damn Hedricks had some wheels reeling Horan in that quick
Onya Tim…….thanks for everything…………
I think probably the greatest 12 to play the game. Did Gerber and Sella play 12 or 13? If Gerber played 12 arguably that knocks Horan down to number 2. Greatest modern 12 anyway!
Alex Brown Gerber played 13
I think you got to give the greatest 12 ever to a prime Ma’a Nonu 2010-15. He was as complete as a 12 gets; fast with a sharp step, immense strength, great handling, perfect passing, underrated kicking and vision, formidable defence, even had a great offload, all around matured game.
@@mruv5944 You have just described Horan with that skillset, either way I cannot split the two
At this time the Australian team may well have been the best the world has ever seen - and I dont mean for the time in which they played - I mean of ALL time - just look at those names!
2015 All blacks would've given them a run for their money.
12 Tim Horan
13 Brian O`Driscoll
Los mejores centros de todos los tiempos.
Gerber > ODriscoll.
absolutely brilliant player, at 12,13 or 15
l'enchainement à 10:09 est incroyable
The Aussie version of Gerber, just imagine those 2 lining up together... wow!
Any chance you could compile a vid of Bruce Robertson? The most gifted and IMO greatest center than NZ has ever produced.
You're* Gerber and Horan is the perfect midfield combo. No one even comes close. Robertson is an interesting one. He was a generation before me, so never saw him play. Bunce was the best in my opinion. I'll see what we can dig up on him
Awesome cheers... he was a freakish player ... didn't have the raw physical ability of Gerber and Horan, but he did have dashing pace and could just glide through defenses like no one I've ever seen. He had really silky skills and was just an absolute natural... might be hard to find footage of him though.
As for no one coming close to Gerber and Horan, I'd say Sella perhaps deserves to be there along side them.
Real Rugby People definitely come close. Sella, BOD, Bunce for sure are in their league and guys like Smith, Nonu, Guscott, Umaga are just a tiny bit below.
IMO, Gerber, Horan, Sella, and BOD are the top 4.
Agreed
A feisty and tough nugget he was.
LOL THE CONDITIONS AT 3:36!!!
Horan was incredible. His versatility was undervalued. Several times when Australia and Queensland were overstocked with centres but understocked elsewhere, he would move to fullback, wing or flyhalf without any bother. It's a pity you didn't have any footage of his Super 12 try at Ballymore when he caught a dropout 60m out and beat the entire opposition to score. Can't remember the year or opposition, sorry.
GOAT 12
Absolutely! Imagine him and Gerber next to each other in the midfield...
Gerber and Horan what a combination that would of been.
Awesome and had lethal pace. Brian odriscolls gotta be up there too
Love Tim Horan, but this was a Campo / Jason Little highlights reel until around the 8min mark!
GOAT
How good was TH !
背番号12は誇りの証。
Horan, Gregan and Eales were the best in there positions McQueen was the best coach in my opinion
Back when the team was Australian .
2:13 I don't think Little diving into the ruck to win the ball like that was permitted even in those days.
Greatest? I'm not sure. First class though, definitely. As always, great videos. Still waiting for a vid of Christian Stewart of Western Province, Canada and Springboks.
muntu Who's your greatest 12 ever?
Real Rugby ma'a nonu 2 time world champion all black centurion
@@RealRugby Jeremy Guscott, England and Lions.
Shame he had a terrible knee injury in 1994. The Horan from 1989 to 1994 was as good as Dannie Gerber. They are the two best centers of all time in my opinion.
you cannot be serious
Has Chelka ever watched this?
2:11 the TMO would have ruined that try these days 🤦♂️
Back when Australia could beat Wales!
He retired well before 2017
Mal Maninga was the best center ever, Wally Lewis said one time the best player he has ever seen was Mark Ella,do you get my drift.
Is he the greatest centre of all time?
He's not a linebreaker. More of a speedster/finisher : very fast, great in support, runs great lines and chases balls.
Just here he broke the line quite often . Crazy fast for his size .
He is also a playmaker and a defender. Complete player
ruclips.net/video/np5i82_1LYA/видео.htmlm47s check this Tim and Danie Gerber against each other for the only once
Played in a great team. Not the greatest. Sella, Gerber, O Driscoll, Umaga all better.
Umaga, no way. Umaga was not even the best centre of his era. Both Mortlock and O´Driscoll were better than him. Gerber and O´Driscoll were both 13s anyway. The best ever no 12 is between Horan and Sella.
They are all 13s, Horan was a 12
