Brad and Dylan work really well together. They talk to each other, the gesture is natural, they respect and complement each other's point of view and it flows naturally. These two should present more content together !
I was about to comment the same thing.
fukkin A!
totally agree
I totally agree. They play off each other very well.
King Gizz deserves more love.
King gizzard & lizzard wizard produced a great album.
There’s so much metal out there so impossible to cover everything. I’ve been following Overkill reviews for 2 years now and have never in my life discovered so many new bands that I would never have otherwise heard of. So thanks guys, you do a great job. Thanks for a great year and let’s look forward to more awesome metal in 2020.
Angus Bowie thanks man!
I love how Brad and Dylan have deep discussions on each of these. I was hoping this would be another Dylan and Blayne video, but this worked really well. What we really need is a Dylan, Blayne and Brad Video.
Dylan's right, y'all are sleeping on Wilderun.
My favorite album of the year. It's so far out in front of everything else that it's almost criminal not to review it on a metal review show. \m/
Album of the year for me. Veil Of Imagination is incredibly melodic
You should check out Iapetus. Atmospheric meldoic death metal about space. If you liked Wilderun this might be up your ally.
No clue how MGLA didn't make this list!
The same reason they trashed deathspell omega. It's like the black metal lock horns episode where they acted like Burzum didn't even exist...
@@tiny9398 Although I do remember Blayne giving Burzum props on the Atmoblack lock horns
because they dont cover black metal
Downfall Of Gaia, Insomnium, Saor, Wormwood...
@Calin Amariei No they aint. Its the antifa that tries te falsely label them.
Everyone keeps sleeping on Car Bomb, the best band that no one gives enough attention to.
Car Bomb are so fucking awesome
Agree !
And their latest record is the album of the year, at least for me
Saw them with Gojira in NYC and they fucking destroyed Terminal 5.
True. Car Bomb kills
Really enjoyed the excellent debate between these two. Especially on the king gizzard album. Keep up the great work!
KNOCKED LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE! THE biggest hardcore release of the year
FACTS
True. They are blowing up. The new Sanction is sick af too
gianluca de rosa saw them two nights ago, the show/atmosphere was crazyyyyy
@@ThyWorshipMetal I'm going to see them next Saturday, they will destroy the fucking venue
Ari Arnalds One of my favorites albums of 2019 for sure!
Really great tag team, would love to see these two do more reviews together in the future!
i am so glad that you talked about King Gizzard! been listening to them for a couple of years and this metal album was a great surprise. wish they release an album going into old school hardcore sounding at some point.
Symphonic Deathcore sounds like what would be playing in my version of hell.
You guys have never reviewed Insomnium. Missed that one.
Dude, you've got to check out Fit for an Autopsy's "Great Collapse". This album was an absolute masterpiece.
Thanks for reviewing Shadow of Intent! I’ll take that as an early Christmas Present.
Jose Alberto Reed your welcome !
Giving Infest The Rat’s Nest a 2/5 is a crime.
No, it's good rating for that album
I give it 1.5
@@kristiankrastanov5995 Well Kristian, no one cares.
one of my favorite metal albums this year, granted, i like metal, but wouldn't call myself a metal head
I didnt outright "hate" that album but I felt like it was just......too basic of an thrash album to be truly novel like any hipsters would tell me , though I think it was kind of an interesting experiment for the band, I've loved the Gizz generally, so
I’m amused that he makes so much fun of King Gizz’s band name right after the mention of 12 Foot Ninja
Even when I don't know the albums, I love to have some reviews about music. Keep up the good work guys. \m/
Daniel Pereira da Silva thanks man!
Devourement, Nile, Hideous Divinity....
Steven Shreif devourement's new album is fucking brilliant ! So hard hitting
Hideous divinity one is decent but the new beheaded record is probably better so it's in my top 10 of 2019 instead
Obscene majesty is a perfectly named album 🔥🔥🔥
My fellow Deathmetal dude!
Loved those three albums
The Hideous Divinity album is fucking exceptional 🤘
The new Wilderun record is a masterpiece! Thanks for a great video.
Love the different approaches! As always.
I've wanted to hear Dylan's thoughts on Macro ever since it dropped, thank you so much. my only complaint about the album, as a huge fan, is the mix/mastering sounds...quiet and muddy, especially compared to Micro. still love it regardless. saw Jinjer on their NA tour this year and it's def one of the best concert experiences of my life. great video guys 🤘
Did they cover Numenorian - Adore before? Because that was a monster album
Where is Wilderun - Veil of Imagination ? AOTY for me and lots of folks over at sputnikmusic. Being French and all, I salute their choice of talking about Alcest though. Cocorico!
Totalement d'accord !
AOTY for me as well!
I'm so glad King Gizzard and Shadow of Intent were on the list. That King Gizzard release is a kickass thrash album. Still wish Devourment would have made it.
Brad looks like extreme metal Santa
He looks like Thor from Avengers: Endgame.
Damn, I was hoping Blayne would have to review 3 deathcore albums lmao
Will you be doing a Best of 2019 Lock Horns episode? Have really enjoyed the ones in the past.
Why low score on King Gizzard dude it is a great album.
No, it's not even good
Dylan might 'be bored" of it, but it's objectively a great album. And Brad is right, there's a lot of potential as a great point of entry for kids who are into King Gizz but aren't familiar with how awesome metal can be.
@@mikeb4858 to be fair though, no 'kids' are into psychedelic rock. So it's a completely moot point.
@@gktbaron You haven't ever been to a King Gizzard show, right?
Yeah, good album, but I suppose you have to be in that niche to really appreciate it.
They missed the overall Motorhead influence too, which was more obvious than Sabbath and Metallica bits imo.
I was also very pleased to see King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard get noticed. I thoroughly enjoyed Infest the Rat's Nest!
I really enjoyed this episode! Seemed much more organic, I felt like Dylan and Brad were debating in an incredibly calm and straightforward manner.
You guys should stick to this formula. Loved it.
Lúcio Fidelis thanks !
I enjoyed it too!
What happened to the music clips. I like those
RUclips has been increasingly aggressive with music clips sometimes pulling our videos before we can air them. Getting rights from the label can help but most labels employ a third party to monitor online content so we're doing what we can but in short music copyright on RUclips is minefield and we can't afford to have our videos taken down by a bot.
@@BangerTV yeah fair. No clip is better than no video. Keep doing what you're doing
Yeah I miss them but I don't blame them for avoiding YT copyright flagging system
Talk over them like numerous RUclipsrs do. But really, hearing the dam music will make us buy the music and this is directed at the labels!!!!!
@@SB-1947 I mean certainly in the UK where I'm from the label couldn't persue legal action over this because Banger is getting them positive attention and sales it's really dumb of the labels hope it gets worked out
Great talk. Disappointed Borknagar and Gaahls WYRD didn't get enough votes but I love that you actually take the time to put together a video like this.
Incredible MGLA's Age of Excuse did not get a dedicated review! Hands down the best album in 2019.
Mgla- Age of Excuse?
I'm with Dylan. Where's the Wilderun? My album of the decade right there
Preach!!
Nice beard brad, and thank you banger tv.
I love Dylan’s kickass Atheist shirt. I should buy that
Only if Christ(opher Hitchens) is your lord and savior)
im seeing them soon!
You guys should do a podcast, I can listen to you guys discuss metal for 30-45 minutes at a time, great conversation!
sador42 we have a podcast, 4 new eps are going live between Xmas and New Years
Great list guys, 2 albums I actually voted for were on here 👍🏻
Crux - Moon Tooth still calls your name, Dylan...
Eddie Lippert nice thanks!
I wanna see these guys brawl, I feel like that's what they kinda want too.
Jinjer's Macro is awesome. They've come really far.
That Fit For an autopsy is amazing
lol I was kinda hoping to see Leprous, so Dylan's reaction at the end gave me a laugh
Damn, Wilderun should have really been on here...
Agreed!
Same
New album is a masterpiece.
I want a video where you guys do your top picks for the year. But not from the reviews you’ve done. Also need new bands to listen to. I definitely agree with the number 2 and 1 especially. 2 bands on top of my list for this year.
I see that Atheist shirt hiding behind your hoodie Mr. Prog-man. Love it!
Damn, I did not expect such a low score on Alcest. For me, that was one of the best albums this year.
seriously no review for Insomnium, disappointed...
Ill give you an insomnium review. Good song at the start, good song at the end and a bunch of the exact same stuff insomium has been doing forever in the middle. Another 3/5 album to add to the pile of 3/5 insomnium albums.
@@unfortunatelyrob2635 That sums it up pretty good, lol. Although Mute is my sorrow is sick track and the solo just gives me the chills.
@@unfortunatelyrob2635 haha I like Insomnium but this is dead on. Winter's Gate was extremely overrated too
EricAxel36 loved winter’s gate
@@BangerTV
What about Wilderun?
Can we get a video where Dylan teaches us how to finger drum Bleed? I no joke played that part of the video over a dozen times at 0.5 speed and still couldn't figure it out.
I can’t believe you guys didn’t cover Knocked Loose or Vitriol!
Did they do one with the new splattered albulm?
Maybe I've become too old, but I still maintain that Flotsam and Jetsam's 'The End of Chaos', might be the best album they've ever written... And can stand toe to toe with any Big 4, Great 8, or Dirty Dozen of thrash masterpieces! I've barely heard of most of the bands you talk about.
How do I get into more of these obscure blackened death metal bands?
Wilderun is absolutely fantastic. My favorite album this year.
So the 2008 Overkill Rewind video WAS Dylan's first appearance right?
Fuming Mouth- The Grand Descent. A perfect blend of grimy, sludgy hardcore and death.
Wilderun - Veil of Imagination deserves album of the year IMO.
This channel is amazing!!!! Keep up the good work!!! I'm so glad there are more channels about metal now
They start talking about King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard at: 4:33
Brad, your voice goes so HIGH!! :)
This list is in desperate need of Venom Prison and Employed to serve two of the best releases of the year !
No love for Warforged?
We have a New Song out today. cheers from Norway!
I must say that the Reagae section from Jinjer is freaking sick then the Booyah hits and it’s great!
That new Infant Annihilator and shadow of intent hit so damn good.
Hearts of No Light from Schammasch is an excellent release.
I was hoping for a review of AILD
Did you guys review:
Weeping Sores - "False Confession"
Abyssal - "A Beacon in the Husk"
Mizmor - "Cairn"
Esoctrilihum - "Telluric Ashes.."
Triumvir Foul - "Urine of Abomination"???
TheDarkLordSteer check Metal Monthly
Gah, wish Saor would’ve made it. Def my album of the year.
I have been searching the internet for anyone reviewing Lacuna Coil's new album "Black Anima" .... it's so good and no one seems to even know it exists
I love that album! LC gets better every year. I totally agree with you. They didn't get near the credit for Black Anima
To me the self-immolate riff sounds more like damage inc.
I agree where is Nile. I think one time you guys reviewed 1 of their early albums it got like 2 skulls .
Shadow of intent almost got 5 skulls damn it so close.
My birthday is on October 25th. This year was a great birthday.
What about Soilwork - Verkligheten? Possibly the best/most accessible album of their career imho. Something about the production and performance on this album makes me stop and pay attention every time a track pops up on my song list. Seriously check it out and tell me I'm wrong.
"Kicky, kicky blast beats", that is some shit Eric Foreman would say lmao
Brad, King Gizzard only really have 3-4 members that write music mostly. the're always a 7 piece live though, and the other guys play on almost all their stuff in some capacity.
Dude just wanted to hate, knew nothing about the band, made fun of their name, thinks they're just experimenting rather than being actual metal fans. People like Brad are why I can't stand most metal heads.
@@DrTurdsley Brad's a good dude. and he does more for metal than anyone you know.
this has been the best one yet. lemme get a job
Loved the bleed cover
I knew the album of WILDERUN, "Veil of Imagination" from Coverkiller Nation. It was really really a transcendic master piece. This is the real No.1 of year 2019. Probably, best album of this 20 years or more.
heartbroken that you guys didn't get to talk about devil master
Sucks y’all never reviewed the new Yellow Eyes album, I highly recommend it!!
Astronoid’s self-titled second album is my album of the year!
Still waiting for some coverage of my boys Haunt out of Fresno, Ca. Burst Into Flame was a phenomenal album... Their release this year, If Icarus Could Fly, hasn't been touched on at all, not even in the NWOTHM video. What gives? Did I miss a video? Give them a listen guys. You're welcome.
Deceptive Khan I mentioned that album as well on my comment!! They kick Ass!
Good show...you guys seem to have chemistry...personally, I'm not a fan of Jinjer or that lizard stuff...they strike me as two bands desperately trying to be interesting for the sake of being interesting...from my view, the other 3 are pretty good...glad you reviewed them...
Organectomy and Devourment are keeping slam ALIVE
Thornhil had a great Debut album the same day as Jinjer, Alcest and FFAA
ThatBlindGuy247 second that for Thornhill
Shoutout to the new Leprous album
No Luciferous by Enterprise Earth?
Brad's description of a guitar arpeggio @18:45 is making me lose it
Car bomb is like my bed
*it gets slept on*
What you guys miss is this banging album by Kryptos -Afterburner
kitumeitei 1926 Exactly the album kicks Ass!!!
I need a Unquestionable Presence tee.
I don't know how y'all slept on cerebral rot. Their new record is absolutely filthy.
Dylan, check out VINTERSEA if you haven't. Kinda prog, kinda black metal, melodic....its good stuff.
The Bleeding - Morbid Prophecy (2019) is KILLER
Man, wait, 1:50 mark, +1 to Twelve Foot Ninja. Amazing australian band. Big fan. And I live on the other side of the globe literally: Brazil.
Borknagar and Novembers Doom!
