    It's interesting how Tim describes the style of Hope as "teenager-y" because, given that the show takes place approximately now and Phil is about 40, he would've been a teenager in the 90s, so this kind of grunge sound would definitely be the music of his adolescence. And I think that speaks to the immaturity he's stuck in, but also the vulnerability and fear. He's lost all sense of security and control over his life and he feels like a scared and angry kid.

    This is absolutely fascinating; I really wish Tim would play Phil himself in a movie version of the musical.

    I saw the final performance of GHD and Tim was in attendance. So pissed I didn't stage door. He's one of my favorite musicians.

      Jack Kelly - Dude I walked past him ON MY WAY TO SEE GROUNDHOG DAY, and I didn’t even know it was him. These girls were taking a pic with him and I was like “hm he looks familiar” .... I’m still mad at myself lmaoo

      I stage doored and saw him about a week before it closed- someone burst into tears when he appeared

    wow this is fascinating, love learning all the little details that contribute to the subconscious effect of the music or have symbolic meaning but you would never consciously realize just listening to it

      I would assume he is speaking "day" as in morning/breakfast to evening/dinner.

    Good song and interesting hearing about its birth , but for me there is something lost in excluding the movie's classic daybreak song, "Put your little hand in mine"...
