God, this is as moving a piece of music as I've ever heard. This guy is a comic fool, a philosopher, an antagonist, a protagonist, a real human being and a straight up, all out musical genius.
MrGrunge: In one sentence, you have captured the essence of the magnificent Tim Minchin. Tim is proof that one need not be religious to be principled and "moral." He lives his life thoughtfully and intentionally.

I just strolled through commentaries to see if anyone else noticed or that was just me. 8D P.S. I hope this doesn't make her embarrased, since I noticed that because I was looking at her for the most time in the first place, just because she's absolutely beautiful IMO.
I thought she is just looking at the camera and giving a little smile. Because when you're on stage and don't have anything to do yet, smiling at the audience is a good way to pass the time.
Saw Groundhog Day: The Musical yesterday, and it was phenomenal. It seemed everybody in the audience loved it, and this song (as well as others) were both memorable and beautifully intwined in the story.
Look at you, your hair all straightened, in a suit wearing shoes.... What has happened to you..... xD but without kidding, great song love your work keep it up m8!
Tim is too good at everything he does. When he want's to be funny I laugh my ass off. When he plays stuff like this and White Wine in the Sun, I want to tear up.
+Jovi Levi :3 never heard drowned but White Wine in the Sun makes me sob, Not Perfect makes me sob and Grew on Me is particularly horrible imo. I apparently cry at this too but I don't know if that's cos I'm just very emotional atm cos I just finished listening to Hamilton 😂
This song is heartbreakingly beautiful - I was fortunate enough to see the show in London and it was - as absolutely everything Mr M does - completely amazing. Such talent.
That key change after 3:42 was the best, most well placed key change I've ever heard in a song! That was a musical must but so well done it's... I loved the song, adore Minchin and saw Mathilda live and was amazed... but THAT KEY CHANGE!! The devil is in the details and satan is a ginger! (I can use that word)
You sir have good taste, I thought the exact same thing when I first heard this and still often come back to listen to this masterpiece for that exact moment. Excellent composition. Tim nailed this one.
Saw Groundhog day on Wednesday at The Old Vic Theatre... along with Matilda it's one of the best things I've ever seen. Go see it if you can get tickets.
Well done. Your lyrics bring out even more nuances of the story I hadn't thought of. Groundhog Day is a philosophical goldmine. Candide would approve, I believe.
It sounds more like a score than a musical, if that makes any sense... Maybe just the presentation. In Tim fashion it's a song that has a bigness about it that is rather satisfying.
Beautiful. I have had this on repeat since it came online. Can't wait for the musical to hear the rest of the songs if they're all of this quality. Another great Minchin production.
geez Tim way to make me think as I walk the dog around the block on this chilly Mel morning... getting ready to face another Groundhog day of my own at a call centre job... I gotta change things up now.
I NEVER HEARD OF TIM TILL CALIFORNICATION HE WAS AWESOME IN THAT. WHAT A GREAT TALENT ALL THE WAY AROUND AND FANTASTIC PIANO PLAYER. JUST A COOL DUDE TO BOOT.
Ah! Finally! I heard a couple of bars of this on the documentary about Tim by his sister and thought it would be very sad if I never heard the rest of this song. It is complete.
"Groundhog Day" is my favorite movie of all time, so I was really on the fence when I heard they wanted to make a musical version of it. But after hearing this, I think it's in good hands.
Groundhog Day is an amazing show. The music is pure Minchin. There's a song called (maybe) On and On. Until that song I had never been among an audience in tears. It's beautiful and I'm hoping that there'll be a recording of the shows music.
Some years ago I meet 2 videos with Tim in Publicks, one friend send to me video from Californication with his song. and I start to love tim =) watch many things about him and his life and comic stuff and songs. Its change me my mind and my humor =) And im glad about it ) Thanks @Tim Minchin
I want a whole album of Tim singing these Groundhog day songs. Who's with me?
Not sure he'd be the ideal fit for ''Playing Nancy'. Ah, he could pull it off.
@@coughlinslaw7207 He pulled off singing one of Mathildas songs, he could make it work aha
I love hearing him sing his compositions. Makes me feel like I am listening to him while he's creating his music. ❤
@@coughlinslaw7207 He just did, he sang Playing Nancy for the West End Live 2023!!
The last leg version of seeing you is amazing.
God, this is as moving a piece of music as I've ever heard. This guy is a comic fool, a philosopher, an antagonist, a protagonist, a real human being and a straight up, all out musical genius.
Well put. He truly is as good as people come. And I’m not just saying that coz I’m in his fan group 😉
MrGrunge: In one sentence, you have captured the essence of the magnificent Tim Minchin. Tim is proof that one need not be religious to be principled and "moral." He lives his life thoughtfully and intentionally.
When he sings "white wine in the sun" I cry every time. Beautiful.
In which Tim reminds the world that he's a bona fide musical genius, as well as being a world-class satiricist.
I must say I thought he isn't capable of writing something that is not funny and offensible. I was wrong.
@@joeltrowe5155 you obviously hadn't listened to all his music! You can't tell me White Wine in the Sun is offensive!
@@mengyft
Offence is subjective. That's why it's such a stupid concept.
"He's advocating alcohol consumption!!", you can always be offended.

Ferret best comment to anything.....ever
Toughnes isnt in what you do, but what you are.
I love how he just looks humbled by the applause, like not knowing if he even deserved it
Relief
I still haven't got over the fact that Broadway killed this musical. I loved it when I saw it at the Old Vic
Absolutely gutting
well, they got rid of the lines referring to erections and masturbation.
guess they didn't need them; there's enough wankers in the USA already.
That violin hit like an emotional ton of bricks.
Tim is one of the most consistent artists I've ever seen, everything he has put out has been incredible for years, he's a bloody talented guy.
I love Tim. I hate musicals. I love this song. This is getting complicated.
So you kissed the goat then kicked it then hugged it
You don't hate musicals you hate shit musicals just so happens tim writes the only good musicals
It could be worse. This could be the video for Avril Lavigne where she did that Japanese..... thing.

Low key cried in the theater when I saw the show and they did this song. Wish more people would have seen the show before it closed, it was fantastic.
New Minchin!???? My god today is a good day.
Same old Minchin - just some more new grey hair.
not the same.....PERFECT in my opinion!
'Perfect' and 'same old Minchin' are surely synonyms?
It's a testament to Tim's talent that he can upload a dramatic piece on his comedy channel and still get an overwhelmingly positive response
Date someone who looks to you the way, that the blonde singer looked at Tim on 1:25.
Someone needs to make that a meme
I just strolled through commentaries to see if anyone else noticed or that was just me. 8D
P.S. I hope this doesn't make her embarrased, since I noticed that because I was looking at her for the most time in the first place, just because she's absolutely beautiful IMO.

kkme7 then I claim she was looking at me!! =D
The silence after 'I know nothing' at 2:40 is heartbreaking.
Oh my God, this is absolutely beautiful, I so hope Tim goes on tour again soon, I would love love love to see him live!!!
I need him to tour again.
He's said he wants to go back to solo work soon.
Saw Groundhog Day: The Musical yesterday, and it was phenomenal. It seemed everybody in the audience loved it, and this song (as well as others) were both memorable and beautifully intwined in the story.
I saw it in London last year. It's an amazing performance. A very powerful experience!
Look at you, your hair all straightened, in a suit wearing shoes.... What has happened to you..... xD but without kidding, great song love your work keep it up m8!
I know he should have added his I love Jesus song in.
You forgot no eye makeup ;)
+Ross Crawford xD
I wonder if anyone has ever looked at me the way that the left-side backing singer gazes at Mr. Minchin during this video...
"I'm here... I'm fine."
Well I'm glad you are COS I'M SOBBING LIKE A BABY NOW! 😢😢
Tim is too good at everything he does. When he want's to be funny I laugh my ass off. When he plays stuff like this and White Wine in the Sun, I want to tear up.
Gosh, this man is a genius, plain and simple.
Zane Millecchia you should research “genius.” He’s creative. Wonderful to listen to. But.....
Everything Tim does seems beautifully put together.
Reminiscent of 'Not Perfect' in a few ways... Which is entirely a good thing.
"I'm here, and I'm fine..."
Awesome fucking song. I kind of choke up when I hear it, as well as with White Wine...
drowned, though.
This, White Wine in the Sun, Not Perfect and Drowned must be Tim's four most beautiful songs, to me.
Tim is one of my heroes.
This song is heartbreakingly beautiful - I was fortunate enough to see the show in London and it was - as absolutely everything Mr M does - completely amazing. Such talent.
I saw Groundhog Day yesterday during its first week. It was awesome and Tim munchkin was sitting only a few rows away!
Back vocals singer on the left is sooooo fancy Tim :)
who wouldn't :3
agreed
I have a beautiful girlfriend and I'd fuck him. Or let him fuck me... Whatever that handsome hunk of talented man meat wanted.
hah yeah I noticed her too. Her eyes are full of adoration. U can tell she's smitten
Tim Minchin and Trey Parker doing a co-op musical..... how awesome would that be?
About the Pope. I would pre book.

I teared up a little bit when the violins came in around 3:40.
Beautifully crafted song, well done Tim! Just a shame you're wearing shoes now! 🙈😂
i keep coming back to this song.
I love it dearly
Aw he looks like he wants to cry at at the end! He's so beautiful
8 YEARS ago??? Man where has time gone? And I still love listening to this song... Thanks Tim!

Speechless. Tim is such a life goal. Put everything you have in what you love.

Where can I see it if I'm not in the same country? Is it online or something?
It sounds more like a score than a musical, if that makes any sense... Maybe just the presentation. In Tim fashion it's a song that has a bigness about it that is rather satisfying.
Beautiful. I have had this on repeat since it came online. Can't wait for the musical to hear the rest of the songs if they're all of this quality. Another great Minchin production.
Will you get his vocal mic up where Tim deserves it? He is awesome.
You the man Minchin, you the man..
I'm so thrilled to see this show is getting another shot in London.
Just saw the west coast premiere of Groundhog Day the musical at Landmark Theatre in Long Beach. Love this musical! ❤️❤️❤️
Brilliant song. So sad this is the only Groundhog day number available as yet. Having to play it on a loop....
I saw this show in a local production last weekend and I keep thinking about it.
Where has Tim been for the past 7 months?!?! I still haven't found anything that measures up to his old stuff!
0:40 Music starts
Man, I love this guy!
Greatest Aussie comedian/musician/actor/composer (I could go on & on) EVER, Ever, Ever!
Tony Hadley on drums there... some really bold chord choices in there, great stuff.
I don't even know what the musical is about and this touched me.
J it’s based on the movie groundhog day
This one gives me the goose-bumps. Feels good
No-one deserves this much talent....!
WELL DONE TIM MINCHIN!!
Simply. Beautiful.
geez Tim way to make me think as I walk the dog around the block on this chilly Mel morning... getting ready to face another Groundhog day of my own at a call centre job... I gotta change things up now.

"Groundhog Day" is my favorite movie of all time, so I was really on the fence when I heard they wanted to make a musical version of it. But after hearing this, I think it's in good hands.
damn Tim, this is fantastic. wish I could see this live!
i teared up.. wow. man. guys. he has become ..
Love a song that gets more poignant each time I listen! Can't wait to see this.
Thanks Tim ...
Groundhog Day is an amazing show. The music is pure Minchin. There's a song called (maybe) On and On. Until that song I had never been among an audience in tears. It's beautiful and I'm hoping that there'll be a recording of the shows music.
If your referring to Ned Ryerson's song, it's called 'Night Will Come'.
always love the minch!
The whole show is amazing. If you can, see it!
Groundhog day the musical is bloody great. Amazing.
there are times when we his hilarious, and there are times like this where he is thought-provoking and tear jerking. a true master of his craft
This is one of the most talented man. I love everything he does.
Now I want to see that goddamn musical!
saw the show last night - just wow
Here I was, waiting for a comedy, and getting this fantastic piece of musical beauty and delicacy instead. Bravo!
This is such a great song, I'm really bummed I'll never get to see the show :(
As an Australian, who lives in New Zealand and is visiting England; Tim Minchin makes me proud of the wonderful talent from home.
love him!
Tim, with all the prejudice around the UK, I believe Brexit is calling for a song
This song is so beautiful
nice!
rock 'n roll nerd!
Love you, Tim! You make my day better!

Everytime... my ears flutter with adrenaline and appreciation when I hear you sing.
Ears can flutter?
Jokes - know what you mean #fistbump
Love this song in the musical.
This is for Groundhog Day? What a surprise! This is gorgeous - just beautiful. Can't wait to hear the rest!
This song is amazing. I love how Tim's so humble in receiving acclaim, what a legend.
I always cry listening to this. It’s just so perfect.
