The line about his body, "I spend so much time hating it, but it never says a bad word about me." actually changed my life. It hit me like a lightning bolt, I suddenly realized that I spend so much time hating myself, and not taking care of myself properly and that before I can truly be happy with anything else in my life I have to work to take care of myself and be happy with myself. My body has kept me alive all these years, the least I can do is take care of it, and love it for all the things it has allowed me.
I never really thought of it like that, I never realized that of all the objects in my life that I claim to cherish, my body wasn't one of them. That had to change.

I wish we could apply your comment KG to the world as well, instead of hating things about the world what if we could work on taking care of it better, it's keeping all of us alive... Loving ourselves is key to happiness though, I really think that. If you hate yourself how can you ever be happy?

Can we just talk about the genius who ran the cinematography!
During Earth section: Wide panning, high shots above Tim, even as it gets closer to him it still stays above him and points down to him, keeps the piano between the camera and Tim/
During Country section: Still wide panning, but this time it's more level with Tim, as it gets closer it stays at eye level, still keeps piano between the camera and Tim.
During House section: Wide pan is considerably closer now, stays about level with him as before, but this is important, it goes around the piano to Tim, getting closer, and now we no longer have the piano hiding us from Tim.
During Body section: Wide starts from above this time, we get a full view of Tim from above, we literally see his body, after the initial shot we get a close up of Tim until it finally pans out, preparing us for the final section.
During Brain section: No wide pan this time, it cuts straight to a shot of him, we slowly zoom in on his face, this is the most personal we're going to get to Tim, it show every facial expression clearly. Near the end we cut back to a wide pan and pan out to the top to end the video how we started it.
I'll let you all interpret the camera work in your own ways, just wanted to point out that it's genius.

I was contemplating taking my own life, earlier this week, and I came across this song.
I'm not going to be so prosaic, as to credit this song, or Tim Minchin, with my continuing to breathe, but I will say that I find quite a lot of meaning in these words.

Lines like "never even messes up my hair", "really rather radical of eyebrows" and "love and bad song lyrics" had obvious beats for the audience to laugh, and when he had turned 30 the line where he gives his age was "29 and 12 months old". This is one of my favorites of his because it is such a touching sentiment, but doesn't forget to have a little fun along the way. :)

I discovered this song in 2017, when I was going through a really rough time. I've always struggled with depression, for as long as I can remember. During a particularly strong episode, I felt so trapped in my situation, and it felt like nothing would ever change. I was tired of having to fight to build the life I wanted only to keep hitting the same walls. But in an effort to break that thought pattern, I once again turned to musical comedy. After hitting up my usual favorites, I saw this song in the sidebar and decided to give it a try. Listening to it hit me hard, and a lot of the lyrics really resonated with me. By the time I was near the end, at the verse about his brain, I was sobbing. Just the look in his eyes as he sang, that raw emotion that made me feel like someone else truly understood, it gave me this sense of overwhelming relief.
As time went on, I'd periodically return to this song, and would bring me a bit of peace. Eventually I came to interpret the song as learning to accept your current circumstances and do what you can with them. Sometimes you just need to survive through a hard time, and not put pressure on yourself to constantly fight your way out of it. Over the years, I have learned much better ways to cope with my illness. I understand now that it's not my fault, and it's not something I'm making up or inflicting upon myself. But most of all, it's something I can live with. When I have an episode, I've learned that it's okay to take care of myself, and that I deserve that just as much as anyone else.
I know it may sound a little ridiculous, and like these are obvious statements, but for me, depression really messed with my sense of self worth and for a long time, I really didn't have the will to practice self care. Even basic tasks like bathing or brushing my hair felt impossible. I'm still not quite in control of my mental health, but I'm slowly working through it. I really credit Tim as well as countless other artists and comedians for helping to shift my way of thinking even marginally, as it ultimately led me to where I am now in my life. It's not perfect, but it's mine.

I've had depression and anxiety and find this is a great song to get through. I like how it's structured starting big and working its way in, the line "this is my brain...it's where I spend the vast majority of my time" brings home how it's just me in here and it's not perfect. Very touching song, sentimental and heartfelt, love it.

There are so many words to use to express Tim Minchen! He's a perpendicular , horizontal, vertical inclination of a contradicting ironic legend. The best I gather about him is is he's truly an honest and gentle man .The laughter he offers this world about the truth perhaps many people do not understand. His point language use is vulgar, offensive or otherwise unappealing yet refreshing to me and I fucking love his open minded originality! When first I came across his performances by chance I was an inquisitive 62 year old lady of sorts and as I did dig deeper ( because I sift brains carefully ) I realized in a short time he is a god damn fucking genius! Yes you're a fucking " Rock Star " but you are the first realist I've ever seen who dares to be arrogantly hilarious. Your view on " Religion , church and world conditions " in general are so uncommonly familiar. As an indigenous woman I say hell man ROCK ON BITCH! This is definitely my favourite version of this song. The first time I'd heard this song was watching this performance when it aired on The Sideshow in 2007 - my mind was officially blown. He doesn’t do it much (if at all) anymore, because it dates the song and makes the song very Australian, but I really like the verse about "my country" - it's a perfect description of Australia at the time under Howard's government. Even 13 years later, I still regularly come back to this performance so I can laugh and cry within the space of a few minutes.

also I also think comedic musician are used to make every word in a song have meaning (the joke only works if every word is chosen right in the perfect order kind of style) unlike most other musicians where the most important part is the chorus and you kind of forget about the build up to it.

It's so humbling to hear the lyrics, "It's where I spend the vast majority of my time" in context of his body and mind, as if to say he has a choice and chooses to be there despite knowing its flaws. The line always gets my waterworks going.

I have heard this before but today it popped into my recommended so never one to pass by an opportunity to listen to Tim I clicked play. The Gods or someone knew I needed to hear this today. I cried because of fibromyalgia I can’t do the things I used to but Tim made me think about it......it’s my body, it’s not perfect but it’s mine. THANK YOU TIM ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

"But the weirdest thing is that this house has locks to keep the baddies out, but they're mainly used to lock ourselves away"
Best line is the whole song
