      Because like the man said that compressor will be leaking again in 1-2 years time (conveniently when the warranty expires). The bad seals end up grinding a tiny ridge into the driveshaft that will eventually damage the new seal. The correct method is to remove the entire nose cone at that you can actually sand down the shaft to remove the ridge as much as possible, but you will never get it 100% perfect. There’s just too much liability for shops nowadays in rebuilding parts

    I love how I had to put up with weekly reminders and almost daily emails, from Honda, that stated that there was nothing wrong with the compressor and that the seal was supposed to leak a little. Now here we are 4 years later, and Honda is now accepting that there is a problem. Better late then never I guess.

      That's what they said about the condensers and told us that we weren't doing our PDI and checking if the a/c worked when we were submitting all the claims for the condensers leaking. After they were coming back after being sold.

      I have a V5 compressor and was able to punch it out from the rear of the housing. Hit the inside of the seal so you don't mar the surface where seal is held.

      When I was doing PDI the new Santa Fe 8 speed were leaking, the sway bar bushing bracket bolts cross threaded into the sub frame and causing noise cuz it wasn't run down all the way, a line of dead pixels across the screen on the new ioniq 5, someone left a bolt in the inlet side of the turbo on a Kona N, spilled coolant in the fuse box causing electrical issues, connectors not connected, missing bolts on genesis list goes on.

    Hi, just bot new ac compressor and she installed and working, my issue is it or something is drip drip drip very steady down back of compressor...what are the chances this leak IS the compressor? I mean the seam, as in a possible dud compressor. Its a UAC bot through rockauto. Answer if you can.

    • @theoffroadingmechanic

      I've never had this issue as I don't typically order parts from rock auto so I'm not sure about rock auto parts. I hear great things but also not so great things.

    I have the condenser and compressor shaft seal replaced under warranty, but the car still doesn't work as expected. With my solenoid on the compressor after the diagnostic it shows that the solenoid is not working properly ( B2988 Issue ). It seems the wiring and all is good. Honda installed USED solenoid from some compressor that they had laying around to test if the A/C will work and it worked, I got the cara with blowing cold air for 10 miles, I stopped to fill gas and after that it was blowing hot air again. Sometimes when sits for day or two it blows cold air , when I turn the A/C , after some time and after driving, it starts to blow hot air. after couple of days it's the same, blows really cold air, then hot again. It seems the wiring is okay (At least Honda said that). Do you think it might be faulty compressor after all? Currently with the *New* USED solenoid it gives the same error B2988

    • @theoffroadingmechanic
      @theoffroadingmechanic  28 дней назад +2

      Did you have the issue prior the repair or was this something after they did the condenser and compressor. Unlike the a/c compressor clutch which is controlled by the relay by the pcm. That solenoid is controlled by your climate control unit which is in the far right of your glove box if indeed the issue is that climate control solenoid. Can you make sure your condenser fan is kicking on when the a/c compressor kicks on. That code might be an old code or when they disconnect the connector for the a/c compressor which can also give you an open circuit and they are chasing their tail.

    • @antonkotsarov8763
      @antonkotsarov8763 28 дней назад +1

      They said that the climate control unit was checked and it was working okay. ( I got that car last week , purchased from another country and turned out the ac was not working ) the code was cleared and still pops out. Ac fan is turning on.. But if it's climate contro unit ( that's next othe glovebox ) I think with my solenoid it should've somewhat worked again, because with my solenoid it was blowing only hot air, with the new solenoid it's blowing cold air for sometimes then hot again. So if there are some metal shards in the compressor it could damages the solenoid itself or I am wrong :D. THanks for the help! Appretiate it.

    • @theoffroadingmechanic
      @theoffroadingmechanic  27 дней назад

      Because you had purchased the car a week ago and the a/c wasn't working it may have had that issue already but because there is a bulletin for the shaft seal and condenser they just went ahead and did that and they found out after that it still didn't work? For the code B2988 there are 3 separate codes what sub codes did it have C-B1, C-B2, 61. They all have the same code but each code will indicate a short, open or just a generic code for an issue. Without having to see what is happening you would have to have the issue happening to see what is happening. If it had metal debris in the compressor the tech would have said something when they had changed it and sold you a new compressor and not just throw it back in because that would cause more DMG as the compressor will start sending more metal throughout your system.

    What I've never understood is: Hydrolocking a compressor is a thing, right. And yet you pour plenty of oil directly in to the compressor. How does it not immediately hydro-lock when you start it up?!

    • @theoffroadingmechanic
      @theoffroadingmechanic  9 месяцев назад +1

      But think about it this way if your a/c is off and the refrigerant in your system is equalized what is the compressor taking in when your compressor starts up. And the majority of compressors use reed valves. Not saying you can't but you would really have to overfill the system. In the manual it will say how much to put in the compressor before installing. Or any components you are replacing.

    • @theoffroadingmechanic

      Are you having issues with your a/c? Are they saying it's leaking because the area where the compressor is located is wet. Because the previous tech didn't clean around the subframe from all the oil and dirt that was left behind from when they replaced the seal. Also condensers always start leaking after a few years.
