      F*ck Hughes, he's more responsible for Tommy's demise than anyone. I can't say that he introduced Tommy to heroin, but he sure did a whole lot of it with him, then stole his girlfriend which broke his heart and he Overdosed shortly after getting a "Dear John" letter from her.

    Gettin' Tighter is one of the best Deep Purple songs ever.
    Tommy had demoed the song prior to the album sessions, and Glenn wrote the lyrics.
    Glenn's voice went better with Tommy's style in my opinion, very soulful.

      @@BruceLee-io9by sto ascoltando proprio adesso Getting Fighter dei Deep purple Mark 4 in concerto in Giappone del 1975( io non ero ancora lontanamente nata) che meraviglia!! Hanno saputo dare ai Deep purple in quel periodo uno stile diverso e meraviglioso. Anche se i Deep purple sono comunque sempre i n 1 per me. Peccato
      Bolin era un chitarrista e musicista straordinario calcolando la giovanissima età 😢

    • @BruceLee-io9by
      @BruceLee-io9by 8 месяцев назад

      La formazione Mark IV era composta da musicisti di grande livello. Bolin era un ottimo chitarrista ma, purtroppo, tossicodipendente come, peraltro, a quei tempi, anche Hughes. Al di lá di questo, non venne accettata l'impronta Funky che Bolin e Huges diedero ai Deep Purple. A me, invece, piace moltissimo quella mescolanza tra Rock e Funky che si ritrova in "Come taste the band". Bolin era una persona molto alla mano, simpatico e modesto. Nulla a che vedere, caratterialmente, con quella merda di Blackmore.

    • @CHIARAMENTE-j5j
      @CHIARAMENTE-j5j 8 месяцев назад

      @@BruceLee-io9by sono perfettamente d'accordo con te. Anch'io ho amato tantissimo quello stile che avevano dato ai Deep purple. Anche Hughes comunque un fenomeno. Meraviglioso

    • @BruceLee-io9by
      @BruceLee-io9by 8 месяцев назад

      @@CHIARAMENTE-j5j Assolutamente sì. La tecnica bassistica di Hughes è fantastica. La sua voce, poi, mi ha sempre dato grandi emozioni. "Come taste the band" lo considero uno degli album inspiegabilmente più sottovalutati della produzione dei Deep Purple. Ti dirò che a me piacciono anche i primi Deep Purple, la formazione 68/69, con Evans e Simper. Se non lo hai già fatto, prova ad ascoltare qualche titolo di allora... ciao e buona serata.

    Glenn would have been 67 years old at the time of this gig n he can still hit the same notes he could when he started out on his musical career!
    I always like his story of phoning Deep Purple's Management n saying "That's it! I quit the band" n David Bowie popped his head up from the sofa where he been for a week n said "I don't think so!"
    N then David talked Glenn out of it!

    The best thing that happened to GH is the fact that he was in a drug comma for years and did not play live dates. Do to that he was able to save his voice. So while Ian Gillan and David Coverdale were screaming for years Glenn was resting his voice. That - in my opinion - is why Ian Gillan and David Coverdale have lost some of their vocal range while Glenn Hughes is singing just as good or better then he was back in the 70s. Just my opinion.

    Glenn is really expressive on the bass. I'm curious if he was an influence "Cliff Burton" of Metallica fame or vice versa?

      Karen's last name is spelled Ulibarri. She and Tommy split around May of '76 after approximately 6 years together. Not sure when she hooked up with Glenn but it was probably soon thereafter. Tommy never really got over the breakup. Karen and Glenn were married till around 1988 (if memory serves from his book).

    Ultimately Hughes was a disaster for DP and half of Stormbringer is poor due to him. Blackmore was correct to call it shoeshine music. His time with Bolin in DP was wasted on hard drugs and awful live performances. However, there were some highlights, Come Taste the Band and Live in California were great. Getting Tighter on Live in California is a real highlight. This version is also really good.
