    We all know Jordan was the greatest player, but Charles unequivocally deserved that 92-93 MVP award for that season. His team finished with the best record in the league and what most people forget is that he played 33 of his 76 games without his best teammate Kevin Johnson.

      Barkley was playing out of his mind both in the '92 Olympics and the entire '93 season. Non-stop beast mode. But also, he's right he should have gotten MVP in '89. Magic won only because certain people of the media didn't like Chuck's attitude (which is why they left him off their ballots entirely).

    • @Riles3152
      @Riles3152 18 дней назад +2

      @@JakeStine Jordan won the MVP in 88. I’m 99% sure he’s talking about the 89-90 season., when Chuck was probably at the absolute peak of his playing ability. Magic won the MVP that year, probably because it was their first year without Kareem and they finished with the best record in the league that year. Chuck, however, led the 76ers to 53 wins with literally no other star on the team. He was actually a better individual player that season than he was in 93, but he had better players around him on the 93 Suns.

Even better since poor, bitter, jealous Michigan State fans were flooding social media with the vitriol that the Lions wasted, they literally said the Lions "wasted", that pick. The kid who was born and raised in Detroit, went to Michigan, became an AA, and then got picked by his hometown pro team is a wasted pick. This is why sparty can't have nice things. I am glad Dan is starting to realize the NBA hasn't been fun to watch lately. The MLB Postseason blew by the NBA Playoff ratings, and rightfully so. MLB has been correcting their issues. NBA is doubling down on three point shootfest, constant blowouts, and starters not wanting to play until April. And the NBA is abandoning TNT which is better than the Mothership. Especially with their pre-game/talk show. That said, I always enjoy Wilbon on ESPN.

    Dan Patrick shutup about giving incentives to NBA players for doing their jobs!
    Any NBA player who isn't certified as injured by a medical doctor should be playing in every game, period. If they refuse to play when not injured then the NBA should fine them $1 million for every game they miss. Each million then goes directly to a local food bank in the city where the team is located. I bet you players would be doing their jobs if they were at risk of lossing their money.
    No incentives, it's time for penalties.

    Maybe we should rethink the assumption that the game is more physical. When I watch games from the 90s, I get the opposite impression. Maybe it was more physical in the narrow sense that there were more flagrant fouls that were called common fouls, but that's not the kind of physicality that causes wear and tear injuries to knee ligaments and Achilles tendons. It's the more abrupt changes of direction, the Eurosteps, the deceleration, etc., that's causing injuries and necessitating load management.

    At least Embiid has a history he can point to showing he can't hold up. Most of these players don't have that evidence. Baseball players get later in the career and don't play day games after night games. Load management is fine, it just needs to be done differently.

    If players not playing is the dominant narrative of your league, I think your league is in trouble.

    NBA ratings from 1998 are down 70%, if it wasn't for the 5 Billion a year they get from China, the highest paid player would only make 15 Mil per year:)

    Incentivize players to play? Dan you’re tripping. These players already make a lot of money to play. If anything, their contracts should have a clause stating we will pay you this much IF you play minimum Xminutes in 82 games (sans injuries).
    80s & 90s, when a game is obviously gonna be won, the coach will sit star players to rest, they don’t stay in the game to pad their stats.. But, if the opponents are showing a come back, coach will put the star players back to ensure a win.

    LeBron saying he wants to play 82 games. Sure, he doesn’t play both ends more than 30-40 seconds a game.

    Bricking 3's. Carry the ball when they go left - because they can't dribble. Moving screens. Constant traveling. No boxing out - truly none. Very low effort defense. Not just lazy - but low skill players. Truth be told, there were a lot of low skill players in the 80's. But from 1988-2008 players were skilled on both ends of the court

    The star player will never say ill play 25 mins they don't want their averages to go down so they would rather sit out all these guys that say all they care about is winning watch how many of them refuse to shoot at the buzzer in the 1st 3 quarters bcuz they don't wanna mess up their shooting percentage

    Unless I’m betting on the game I have no desire to spend 3 hours watching any sporting event. Highlights are always on RUclips anyway. Better things to do with your time.

    Just divide salary into 82 and pay accordingly unless a serious injury
