In Bloom is one of my favourite riffs of all time - can't pick up a guitar without playing it! I think these riff sound great on an LP👍 - I've got an LP shape ESP Ltd and they definitely sound good on that too.
Sounds more generic on the Les Paul. People forget how significant Krist Novoselics bass tone and technique were to Nirvanas sound. His playing always complimented Kurt's melodies and added the right balance of heaviness
@@foljs5858 yeah, sometimes his live sound with the fenders just wasn't enough, empty at times. It wasnt until they added pat on second guitar that it finally sounded like the records.
@@JE-ot2zy You had me until you said electrics are affected by tonewood in any quantifiable amount. It's ultimately a signal picked up by a metal magnet and outputted through an amplifier. Finally committed to getting an LP (Chibson!) So this came at just the right time! I never have, even as a teen, got on with the weight of a Les Paul so this one I couldn’t pass up
I've heard that some Nirvana songs were recorded with a Les Paul, that Kurt loved the sound but couldn't play with them live cause the weight was too much on his bad back, so he didn't rely on them. I don't know how well documented the gear used on each song is, but I'm certain the Les Paul had slipped into at least a few songs.

I actually really like this, this is really thick and fruitful. I believe Noel Gallagher used these guitars for his sound in Oasis, and I'm a huge Oasis fan
It's a preposterous statement to say that Nirvana lacked a thick sound. You obviously never saw them live. Kurt almost always played with humbuckers, and he had a wall of Marshall stacks behind him. they didn't really lack it, it was just never part of their sound, for me nirvana's tone is always that twangy punchy tone that no les paul can get coz in my opinion they aren't versatile enough
Kurt pretty much always used humbuckers, especially in the bridge position. He also played an SG sometimes. Most of his guitars were heavily modded. In summation, the words “Fender” and “single coil” have very little to do with Nirvana’s sounds.
I have an epiphone lespaul of my own and with my current hardware of my own I’m getting so close to the tone I’m looking for personally, sounds amazing
